Hi, after you have made the hood and it is dry you add thin dowels (at least 4 inches long) to the bottom of the hood, which you attach with royal icing. Two in the center and one on either end of the bottom. This way you can poke them in the cake securely so it does not fall off. Let me know if this helps. You can check out my Rolled Fondant cake which I have added a Baby with a Teddy Bear under the balnket.
