I've seen Rita at least 20 times in hockey arenas with 8000 people, theatres with 2000 and church halls with 200 people and this song touches everyone in its own way...thanks for sharing...
I took my son to Nova Scotia for a month when he turned 9 years old. Nova Scotians all the way from Ingonish Cape Breton down to Yarmouth and inbetween are the some of the nicest, kindest, and best people I have ever met. Wonderful part of the world. We're from the USA.
These are all actual mine workers who make this magic on stage, and I had the rare privilege of seeing one of their concerts. By the end of this song I was totally in tears. They are just amazing. They tell of a way of life that is back-breaking, but still, a necessity, and they all have a quiet pride about them when they perform and tell their stories, both funny and heartfelt. They make me so very proud to be Nova Scotian.
I was telling a friend of a song from my childhood saying by reba McIntyre found it yesterday and it's so lovely top ten song of all time
Imagine the macneills are originally from Barra outer Hebrides and the warmth of her voice sends shivers down my arms
Britain had terrible situation with the miners strike and families still don't speak but there is huge love for miners all over the world they won us the war
I saw her twice, Shes Amazing, i Wish I could see her with the men of the deeps one day. This is an awesome video, you must have an amazing camera thanks for posting
The concert was 12 December 2009 here in Ottawa at the National Arts Center. I enjoyed it a great deal ... especially the Men of the Deeps, who are truly manly men yet with the voices od angels. Quite the awesome combination.
