  • Wow! To me you have arrived! Very crisp and clean. As an aspiring fiddle player at 76 years I hope I live long enough to plays as well. I've been playing for 5 years. How long have you been playing?

  • Reply to "paulinefiddle" 's post 1 month ago: I had an Uncle Harry who was a Fantastic wood carver. One day I was looking at an elephant that he had carved and I asked him how he carved the elephant. He just grinned and said just carve away any wood that doesn't look like an elephant! So I guess just don't play any notes that don't sound like you want to hear.. I think I actually play more fiddle away from the instrument, and then when I pick up the fiddle the music just has to come out. Red

  • Great version! I learned to flat-pick BB on a flat-top box from Russ Barenberg back in the very early '80's. I will work up fiddle and mandolin versions. That will be fun. Thanks again! Red

  • Fantastic.

  • Yes great take on such a classic trad.! Love your ingredients at the end... keep up the good work your quite a fiddler!

  • Positively awesome!

  • @paulinefiddle Thanks! =D

  • @Gary, that sounds fantastic. How do you play it so fast, add ornaments, and keep the rhythm lively, in addition to fast? This could be the definitive performance.

  • Loved it - great intonation and technique! What did you use for accompaniment - did you record the guitar yourself and play it back, or is that an accompaniment track that you purchased?

  • @todbrock I make the accompaniment tracks myself with a program called Band in a Box. It's great stuff to practice with and always keeps you in time. Thanks for the comment!

  • strangely, we are playing this song at school...in chamber orchestra O_O. nevertheless, through some spark of chance, i nailed the solo part, so pretty much i have to play what you just played. i am scared as i'm only in 7th grade and i need serious help at Measure 34, or D in my music. thanks for this video, i needed it :D

  • Getting better??? I don't think Mark O'Connor could get any better than that. You're awesome.

  • @wulfdogcat Thanks for the comment! =D

  • I wish I had your bow arm..what is it about Tahlequah that produces such good musicians

  • you are amazing!! How long have you been playing?? you inspire me!

  • Thanks! I have around 9 years of playing under the belt, but really practicing hard the last year or so. I'm glad you're inspired! It's really enjoyable, so stick with it!

  • Do you have the tab or music for this arrangement? It's far more interesting than the one I play.

  • I actually have taken parts from Craig Duncan's Master Fiddle Solo Collection and parts from the Fiddler's Fakebook. If you need a copy shoot me your email. =D

  • Oh good! I have both those books. I'll have to pull them out and figure out where you put things. I love your arrangement!

  • This Is a tune I could never seem to follow on my guitar and you have fiddled it the best I have ever heard it done..way better that 5 star....you the man..

  • Hey man! You're like a fine wine - you just keep getting better!

  • Thanks again! I do feel that I am improving little by little.

  • Damn! Why didn't I learn to play the fiddle! Awesome fiddling on a tough tune.

  • Very nice !

There is at a moment a theme wich is like Irish folk, I love it =D
