Wow! To me you have arrived! Very crisp and clean. As an aspiring fiddle player at 76 years I hope I live long enough to plays as well. I've been playing for 5 years. How long have you been playing?
Reply to "paulinefiddle" 's post 1 month ago: I had an Uncle Harry who was a Fantastic wood carver. One day I was looking at an elephant that he had carved and I asked him how he carved the elephant. He just grinned and said just carve away any wood that doesn't look like an elephant! So I guess just don't play any notes that don't sound like you want to hear.. I think I actually play more fiddle away from the instrument, and then when I pick up the fiddle the music just has to come out. Red
Great version! I learned to flat-pick BB on a flat-top box from Russ Barenberg back in the very early '80's. I will work up fiddle and mandolin versions. That will be fun. Thanks again! Red
@Gary, that sounds fantastic. How do you play it so fast, add ornaments, and keep the rhythm lively, in addition to fast? This could be the definitive performance.
Loved it - great intonation and technique! What did you use for accompaniment - did you record the guitar yourself and play it back, or is that an accompaniment track that you purchased?
@todbrock I make the accompaniment tracks myself with a program called Band in a Box. It's great stuff to practice with and always keeps you in time. Thanks for the comment!
strangely, we are playing this song at school...in chamber orchestra O_O. nevertheless, through some spark of chance, i nailed the solo part, so pretty much i have to play what you just played. i am scared as i'm only in 7th grade and i need serious help at Measure 34, or D in my music. thanks for this video, i needed it :D
Thanks! I have around 9 years of playing under the belt, but really practicing hard the last year or so. I'm glad you're inspired! It's really enjoyable, so stick with it!
I actually have taken parts from Craig Duncan's Master Fiddle Solo Collection and parts from the Fiddler's Fakebook. If you need a copy shoot me your email. =D
This Is a tune I could never seem to follow on my guitar and you have fiddled it the best I have ever heard it done..way better that 5 star....you the man..

Do you have the tab or music for this arrangement? It's far more interesting than the one I play.
