The do isn´t the problem, the problem is your left kote and that the opponent knows from where you will be strikeing, which makes you vunerable to counters (mostly to the do, if you mean that, then yeah).
in jodan, your shinai stays above your head, approx. 45 degrees backwards, whereas in hasso no kamae it's usualy on the right side of your head, tsuba at the heigh of your mouth, almost straight up.
I fought against him today @ Imperial College London.
He was amazing, I had no chance against his Jodan.

jodan(sword high), hasso kamae (sword up at the right shoulder). Go to Kendo class to check actual difference..
