  • Thank you for posting this! I was in the audience for this concert, and it was magical both in performance and in rehearsals. My husband was the accompanist for this group (2010 Senior Mixed Choir under Dr. Jeff Johnson), as well the accompanist for the 2011 Senior Mixed Choir (under Dr. Andre Thomas) which was just this past weekend. I hated to miss this time. I would love for someone to post videos of the 2011 Senior Mixed group!

  • @JoyWatersFowler I was actually planning on attending this year's All-State performance as well, the university I am attending is in a town that practically neighbors Savannah. Unfortunately, other plans reared their ugly head, and I was forced to stay. I have a feeling I wouldn't have enjoyed it just as much anyway, since I would only be watching and not singing with them. I'm more of a get-in-on-the-action kind of guy!

  • @JoyWatersFowler Oh, and I just remembered this, though you may not, but we actually met in person for a brief moment in the elevator of the hotel that both you and your husband and my chorus teacher stayed in. We were all about to head to the Jonny Mercer Theatre to prepare for the upcoming concert. Funny how we should bump into each other a year later by means of reminiscing about the same event that had us cross paths the first time!

  • By FAR the best interpretation of this piece that I've ever heard. :)

  • Awesome work! I just think the pronunciation shouldn't be "chaedite" but instead "caedite" without the "ch" sound. it just doesnt fit for me. but still sounds excellent!

  • @lordofdastrings76 Ha hah! Thank you, and if I could, I would change the Latin language just for you. :)

  • @Maestro2500 Except thats how it's written in the music, "caedite" not "chadite".

  • @lordofdastrings76 Ah, but bear in mind that this is the Latin tongue. In Latin, "ch" forms a hard consonant, while c followed by another vowel formed a "ch" sound.

    Che = "Ke"

    Cae = "Chae"

  • So this is by far one of the best versions of this song. Blend is amazing. The transfer of choas and hate to voices of angels was simply breath taking. I think the only thing i would say that i dont like is the facials. Some of them looked extremely bored. Otheres though and looks of hatred on there face which is what needs to happen in the being. But vocally this choir is simply amazing congrats.

  • @bxdrkid Expressions can't be helped, some people just cannot -- if they are truly putting their hearts into the music -- let that show on their faces. Thank you for your comment on the vocal quality of the piece. I was really rather impressed at the final result, particularly the chord at 2:47, which never failed to give me chills.

    I certainly hope you didn't consider my face to be one of the unexpressive ones (hair gelled and in the middle of the screen at certain points).

  • @Maestro2500 no your face was the one that should have been replicated by the others the hate in your face at the beginning is what i am talking about. 70% of what people hear is what they see.

  • my a cappella choir is going to be singing this(:

  • That was my favorite piece out of all of them :) also the hardest though. I couldn't get the stomp right for the life of me so I just ended up leaving it out :P

  • One the most beautiful mixed choral pieces I have ever heard. I am absolutely amazed by this piece.
