My elderly mother had a mid thigh amputation 6 months ago and the doctors and nurses were using paw paw ointment on her. I'm not sure exactly what they were doing with it though but I guess it was for the wound. It costs about $10 for a small tub at Woolies here in Australia. Her doctor at her nursing home orders her a large tub from the pharmacy.
