  • Sorry guys, English is not my first language... what does exactly a "bloody valentine" refer to?

  • That intro is so stupid. It would perfectly fit in with the unforgiven 3 instead of the stupid piano

  • OMFG listen to that bass... fast, heavy &LLLLOOOOOUUUDDD !!!

trujillo is a fucking beast !!!!!

  • i'd say that the intro fulfilled its purpose. this is actually my first time hearing the song and it melded strangle eargasmically.

  • I love playing that song xD

Either way, the voice could be better, and I am not very fond of the intro. Either way, very good song.

  • I love kirks random as solos.

that's what i've always loved about metallca i think james and kirk are going to go one direction they go slow out of nowhere and then i think they go fast and go the other way.

Jeez i wanna know what they think when they write there songs.

  • to all the guys that play guitar.....!!!!!!!!

Why do you think metallica tunes half a step live??

    and intro suck balls!

  • @x00004 they tune it down because james's voice is lower

  • @x00004 they do. you don't have to play guitar to know that.. listen to this then the album version. this is detuned.

  • to all the guys that play guitar.....!!!!!!!!

Why do you think metallica tunes half a step live??

  • @x00004 cause it becomes easier to sing? DUH, other than that, what people often overlook.. it gives a much more profound lower end, not that they lack it, but it just gives that little more low attack on the lower E, making the tone heavier. I do it all the time, hell i go as far as C

  • Intro is badass but they should write a new song around it....it doesn't fit My Apocalypse .....Robert's bass playing is badass!

  • I again, would like to take the pleasure in giving a big FUCK YOU!!! to all the naysayers, who over the years said Metallica sold out and couldn't play this kind of shit live anymore. You pussies know who you are! Hahahahaha

  • Es verdad que esta intro no queda con el tema u.u(cuando es verda es verdad)

    Aguante Metallica!

  • damn... the bass sound kickass!! despite is too loud it sounds good anyway

  • brutal wasn't the point numb nuts.

  • what is the point, and why are you calling me numb nuts?

  • in my opinion the intro doesnt fit,

its a nicre intro but i think its the wrong song for it ^^

  • "in my opinion the intro doesnt fit"

Basically what I am saying but I'm getting thumbed down and your getting thumbed up. hehe wtf?

  • *you're

  • their playing has definitely tightened up, but his voice is sliding back again...

  • @Scruge21 this wouldnt be an easy song to sing live though

  • Hetfield may be more stoned than I've ever heard anyone in my life

  • 3:26 the scream!!!

    jajaja yeah bb xD

  • the live sounds wayyyy heavier live

  • th old intro was better, good thing i bought the album when it came out ^^

  • If the wanted people to learn it should have been on the cd!! I think James was trying to do a bit like Damage.Inc.

I'm gonna see them live tonight at the bell center!!!!!!

  • I don't think professional bands write music with the intention of other people LEARNING it...

  • The intro sounds like some odd combination of the effects & creepy riffs of something off Ride the Lightning, ...And Justice For All, & the Black Album. Like For Whom the Bell Tolls meets Eye of the Beyolder meets The Unforgiven... >_>

  • Who Threw That!?'? XD

  • YEAH! WHO?

  • the crowd is so out of sync with the clapping

  • how can you be in sync, if they have to listen to Lars all night. He's out of sync 24/7 :)

  • it sorta fits its talkin bout death the intro is like lightning and horror movie sounding guitar its very fitting in my opinion...gives me chills :D P.S im 14 :) OOOOO

  • what does being 14 have to do with any thing

  • wtf? ur messed up

  • not my idea of an intro, it sounds more like something that mightve come from a 90's rpg

  • lol DEFINITELY!

  • nice intro!!!

    but...

    who threw what? :p

  • I like it. Just like what "nzo41x" said, i feel the same.

But it's not fitting. However, this gives me the impression that they are looking for bizarre and new things in their music. This is great with Metallica.

  • i dont like the new intro

  • quite nice at the end

  • james probably was watching wwe and liked the bells in the undertakers song lol fuck wwe

  • goood!!!! is cool!

  • i think the new intro is cool, but it needs to meld in with the rest of the song better. there needs to be a buildup between it and the song itself, like how battery does a soft intro, a second riff thats pretty much the same thing, but with distortion and drums, then the actual song starts. they should do the same thing with this intro

  • thats true man they should make it sync in with the song!

  • That intro sounds like something id hear in a japanese movie before a samurai fight or something, how the hell is this suppose to form with my apocalypse?

  • they used it in oslo :D

  • yep, new intro is not cool :/ idk why did they include it in this song o.O

  • because james only wrote it recentley

  • They did the intro only to make My Apocalypse sound more like Damage Inc.

  • they need a better sound bell like in the bells toll

  • 3:26 sounds james was going back to Kill em All style on the vocals

  • The intro reminds me of Black Sabbath's Black Sabbath for some reason, don't know why though, maybe because its the sound of rain and sounds similar to the rain in Black Sabbath(song)

  • Ya.. Although it was more dark sounding then this it sounds just like it..

  • omg that sounds really good live that is much better than the studio version

  • fuck men i love metallica but reall love i mean if metallica do a pop song i will love it i'm sure that much i love them but i really dont get this intro is like i dont know but is not for this song. this song is one thing and with that intro is complete another thing. another felling

  • dude the fact that you say you will like metallica no matter what they do, i.e. pop music, then your motives behind your following lie not with the music, but with the brand and image of metallica, and in my opinion is a little ignorant and shallow. no offence. jamie

  • Word.. being blindly in love with something will bring you great sadness.

  • good sounding tune but doesnt fit the song, seeing as its completely slow and then it stops altogether, then the guitar comes in.

i love metallica though and loved death magnetic so hopefully their new album will be even better!!!

  • i thinks the ecstasy of gold is muth better!

  • wow... imo i think the entire intro was just plain random and pointless. but still love metallica. \m/

  • i think that the intro fots to the unforgiven =/

  • We must be high because his best voice was 88-92

  • .....I think I've heard this in an elevator somewhere.................P.S. they should have used the piano opening from Unforgiven III to open the album.

  • This song could have done without the end "demon awaken my apocalypse" stuff at the end.

I know they used to be overproduced, but this is just shobbily underproduced... The rest of the album is good tho.

  • Where did they played with that intro? Interesting.

  • Hefield used to have one of the best LIVE Metal voices EVER.

  • Stop your incessant bitching about Metallica. Let's comment on this song, shall we?

I love Death Magnetic. And this is one of my favourites on there. I like the intro. I like that it's free on there website. I enjoyed slotting it in between tracks 09 and 10 on my iPod. They flowed nicely into each other in my car. Life is good.

Good job, Metallica. This is a tight-as-fuck live performance.

  • Death Magnetic is a great album...

  • iid say it went down hill after black.

  • then your no fan.. the last four albums have been GREAT, just different.. Load and reload were great for what they are... St. Anger was EPIC, and Death Magnetic... words cant describe.

  • actually i am a fan, i was replying to some one. i meant james' growly voice went down hill after black, deff not the music

  • Yeah, all of his voice has been different after the black album. I think I blew it out or something.

  • He blew it out drinking, smoking, and touring around 1992.

He needs to get rid of that damned tape and get a vocal teacher. He sounds good at the start of the set but about 6 songs in he sounds like he's straining to hit even the lowest of notes.

  • You can be a fan and not like some of thier music. Sure, Load and Reload were great for what they were, but they weren't the thrash that alot of metallica fans wanted and loved, and St. Anger is in no way shape or form epic. Death Magnetic is good, but still it's no Master of Puppets.

  • so what.. you just wanna keep hearing master of puppets and not let them branch out any more?? St. Anger was their most emotional album, no matter what anyone says.. that album has lyrics in it that when you truely listen, touches the soul. both in good and bad ways. there will never be another, kill em all, Ride, Master, or Justice album.

  • I don't mind listening to Master of Puppets again and again, i like it that much. In fact, i like all of Metallica's stuff except Load, Reload, and St. Anger. Granted, there are a few songs on each album i don't mind, but in all i don't like them as albums. St. Anger's lyrics and riffs are overly recycled and repeated and aren't nearly as good as the older material. There won't be another Ride the Lightning, but Death Magnetic is at least a step in the direction i was hoping for.

  • I like that.

  • very nice

    leave it to james

  • it flows nicely together i think

  • Which gig was this played at first?

  • i think it was at Copenhagen

  • yeah it was copenhagen

  • I liked James' voice the most in 99, but I like it still. It just has changed.

  • jajaja...... gran cosa lo del intro... yo pense q era algo mas brutal....!!! pero bue... da igual..

  • i think his voice was at it's best from 86-92 but i could agree with the laziness theory.

  • hes not lazy, hes older and doesn't want to ruin his voice every night

  • yeah, hes lazy now. listen to him sing seek and destroy from copenhagen 27 july. hes voice is great but he doesnt want to use that good voice too often.

  • I don't think its laziness... I think it is that he needs to make sure he doesn't mess his voice up... He can do that "old" voice for a bit but he can't keep doing it 'long-term' or he will have serious problems.

  • thats cause he doesnt want to blow out his voice again and not be able to sing at all

  • Damn, that bass line is crazy. Rob is the shit. He's not Cliff, but he's fucking right up there next to him.

  • I agree, a lot of people really underestimate his badassness.

  • Are you retarded? His voice was way better on Puppets up to black, it isn;t even close, soundded perfect fo the music, the growl is now gone, was not good in 99 either.

  • I don't hear anything resembling a blues singer in this performance.

  • "SPIT IT OUT!"

  • SPIT IT OUT !

    JAMES HETFIELD IS BADASS !

  • Intro seems sweet, creepy kinda of thing, needs to grow on me abit i think, not convinced it fits with the song totally, I guess they needed an extra intro tape for that slot for change overs, maybe it was in the works but never got polished for the album? who knows, i like it none the less! Great perforance to!

  • good amm intro? jeje well it is the best song in the death magnetic

  • Cool. I was downloading this from livemet now. Glad to hear them play it fast.

  • I honestly dont feel any connection between that intro and the song... I love the performance though \m/
