Grab that kid and take him outside. If your child cannot behave in public then they are not ready to be in public. Of course kids are going to throw tantrums once in a while but you don't just stand there and do nothing. That makes you look like an idiot and it appears like you have no contol over your kid. Grab the kid and leave. Or if you can't leave then a fim slap on the butt and talking to should do the trick. If that still doesn't work then you leave reguardless and get a babysitter.
When my cousin was a baby, I would just say to him, "YELL! SCREAM THOSE LUNGS OUT! HERE! I'LL DO IT WITH YOU! WAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!" That got him to shut up every single time (about 5-6 minutes later after the decibels of his voice got lower!) Of course, I had the nosy people that didn't approve of my form of punishment, but I just told them to back off and kindly pointed out that I'm not physically harming my child in any way, because, of course, they LOVE to cry "ABUSE!" to everything!

But this child is having a complete melt down, he could be tired but whatever the case a smack on the derrier would have solved the case. He could have hurt someone, and then what? When we were kids, when my parents would take us out there was never such a thing as a public temper tantrum. Even at home, any tantrum we had was very short lived. My parents disciplined us but never hurt us. A lot of people don't understand the difference. A spanking is not abuse, a quick slap on the bum is harmless.

My dad says that "I want to kill you" or "your a fucking douche bag" to my face (we fight a lot incidentally, more like twin brothers than father and son) but the worst I got from my dad was a slap if I did anything really bad, he never belived in the belt and thought it was the worst form of abuse.

If it's done out of anger or any other emotion then it is done incorrectly. @danielburnisonmusic I totally agree with you. I have 3 brothers and we're all within 4 years of each other (2 of them are twins). When we were kids, when my parents would take us out there was never such a thing as a public temper tantrum. Even at home, any tantrum we had was very short lived. My parents disciplined us but never hurt us. A lot of people don't understand the difference. A spanking is not abuse, a quick slap on the bum is harmless.

When I asked my mother for a toy, she would say no and that was the end of it. I have 2 kids, and none of them had a tantrum because THEY knew better. They're grown and doing well as adults. Children that age are a lot smarter than you give them credit for. They know how to push their parent's buttons IF the parents allow them. The parent on the video is dumb and lazy.
