I accidentally made this once! I was making brownies just randomly without a recipe, and I was like "screw it, I'll make cake" and it turned out so much like this. It was AWESOME. I've been looking for a recipe like this for ages, and I'm so glad I found this.
Sigh, I miss the little tins of 'Lyle 's Golden Syrup', so tasty. Golden syrup is hard to find here but sometimes I see it in the imports isle at the market. Those are always good day. :)
@Kkeenan461 actually you have to melt it into the butter first...that aside this recipe is fantastic, especially when you add in some white chocolate chips right at the end gives it a creamy choclatiness!
Btw I'm making the brownies again tomorrow. Try it with chocolate custard!! Goes well together. If not that then add some melted chocolate to cream and pour on top ;)
Ummm chocholate looking forward to a time when there are no supermarkets and we can enjoy cooking the way we should have. Psalms 72 vs16. Plenty of food even on top of the mountains very soon. Isaiah 25 vs 6-9. Says we will have a well oiled dishes and wine ,the best is yet to come along with choc cake ...ummm even health will be restored to perfection revelation 21 vs3,4 psalms37vs10,11,29 worth checking as its soon!!
I just made this beauty! With a slight twist... Pour half the mix and put a single layer of after dinner eight mints in the middle then pour the rest of cake mix in. TO DIE FOR
Just a quick question. I used to work in a kitchen where the chef was not only very good, but also trained in deserts and cake baking (i know theres a name for it but i have forgotten). She used to make a birthday cake when people came in on their birthday. It was a chocolate brownie cake and was soooo amazingly gooey and just the best cake i have ever eaten. i meant to ask the ingredients but i comepltely forgot, i do remember something about Almond flour. Do you have any ideas??? Thanks
That looks so decadent and delicious. On Christmas though I'll skip the ice cream and crème fraîche and have a tall white russian with a shot of peppermint schnapps. Tis the season to be merry!
WOW! ONC - you are my new hero...does NOT help with my diet, but dammit - my new hero! LOLOLOL! And I LOVE the way it cut and looked the next day! A dense chocolate brownie, as it should be! Oh damn! Nice job bro!
You are 1 funny bloke do you know that?! :D I think you would find it amusing to know that I often watch your vids in bed (as my computer is set up along side it for long hours working at night!) & I have a nice cup of Assam, & laugh uncontrollably at your little moments of alacrity & charismatic cordiality! You surpassed yourself with this one Chef! And 13 Minutes! Good length!
Do you know, I could swear you have an ESSEX accent! Maybe it's just me.
Very funny to hear you sitting in bed watching the vids!
The laughing uncontrollably bit, do you think that someone putting something in your tea?
As for the Essex accent, many viewers have said that; I am starting to believe that it could be true! A recent comm said I sounded like Mr Burns from the Simpsons!
Love the comment and hope you have many more uncontrollable moments & look forward to speaking to you again soon.
I think it will start to thicken as it cools even if you don't put it in the fridge. Maybe to make it gooey again you could give it a short blast in the microwave?

incredible. looks like a chocolate lava cake. i really need to start baking and i think this recipe will make me stop procrastinating and do it.
if you want to make this uber decadent, try adding chunks of chocolate in the center of the batter so that when you slice it you get a river of molten chocolate.
great work as always and thanks for sharing. irresistable? agreed.
I couldn’t resist making this one, gooey & firm. There are some similarities to a lava cake as you have pointed out, I should make a molten lava cake as it would look really tempting when you make a cut & it oozes out. Good idea:)
I think you have been delaying baking long enough, grab your apron and bake yourself a cake :)

Would I would be able to make it to mini square brownies instead of a cake?
ABIGAILNUTTALL 2 months ago
@ABIGAILNUTTALL
Certainly you can mini squares. Use the tin you already have and then just chop them into the shape you want.
If you have a square or rectangular tin shape that would be a good start!
The main thing is use a tin that is the right size. In the video I suggested around 20cm x 20cm as a guide.
When cooked, let the brownie cool down first, put in the fridge and then chop into mini squares
Good luck :)

Cool chef as usual.whats this muscovado suger?never heard of it.
250cosmic 3 months ago
@250cosmic
Hi 250cosmic,
Muscovado is a type of unrefined brown sugar with a strong molasses flavour.
Also known as "Barbados sugar" or "moist sugar", Muscovado is very dark brown and slightly coarser and stickier than most brown sugars.
If you can't find Muscavado sugar try using a brown sugar or just use more castor sugar instead. The recipe will still work ok.
