Not enough drummers do scat solos! Buddy was a legend, and one funky man. This is my favourite song ever and one of the funkiest riffs I've ever heard!
This i never forget..1972 and streaking was in. LOL. We walkt arround nude on this song during a carnaval in our city. And we go walking down the street singing Lalalalalallllllaaaa laallallalal lalallalal
Those much L,s we where dronk. BUD IT WAS FUN Laalaalalalla
Hey everybody, i've been listening to hendrix for 15 years and love him, I HAVE FOUND a way to play hendrix on an acoustic electric, please check out my videos and let me know what you as hendrix fans thiink!!! i'm dying to hear some criticism. Be rough on me, i want to know what people really think about this, My wife and I have about 4 videos up and we are really trying to improve fast!!!!! please visit and comment. We will listen to your comments
well glad some of u headbangers recognise some of the musical elements in this tune.. like scat singing ..;jazzie bluesie funk....but i kinda think its a bit of streeeaaaaaach to say that hip hop bunnie rabbits have any thing common with this....as a hometown boy once said....keep on rockin in the free world....
From 7:10 until the close of the song is the best sound and flow between jimi and buddy. The closing jam is just phenomenal and is personally the best sounds I have heard a guitar and/or guitarist produce yet...hands down no arguments!!!
Oh man reading some of these comments made me feel so great. Like a lot of you, I still remember the exact moment I heard this and how blown away I was. My college experience wasn't like some of these teen movies but that moment at a party, my friend played this song for me...best party ever.
When I was 16 years old my friend made a copy of this and gave it to me. I think I carried that cassette tape for about 10 years...just in case I was in a place that that required some proper music. Just browsing thru my CD's and had to share. Long live Buddy Miles...one of the best drummers in the world. Thankfully, I shook his hand before he passed away...even got him to sign my cassette
@mappieclead I hear ya dude! for over 30 years, since i was around 16 years old i had this recording in some form or another, in vinyl, cassete, cd, and now in download form. i also met Buddy back in summer of 2007 got to shake his hand too!. .Billy is the ¨soul¨ survivour! are you my twin brother? ; )
@webbtain and on a scale of 1 to buddy miles, mitch mitchell scored pretty low too...
they're two complete different drummers so different in style you can't compare them. you could say two sides of the medallion. like comparing brick walls to wooden floors, both are part of the building but not one is better than the other.
@webbtain There's something to be said for the fact that Hendrix played way better live with Buddy than with Mitch Mitchell. Mitchell was at times too crazy and lost time way too much. Buddy was incredibly solid and just a great drummer for hendrix to solo over.
I MET JIMI AT 14 IN A FREE CONCERT WITH JEFFERSON AIRPLANE WHO I MET LATER BACKSTAGE AS STARSHIP,ERICBURDEN ,GREG ALLMAN ,BRIAN AUGER,OLD PALZ THA TUBES,ECT I TOOK PIX FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE ...PEACE N LOVE PRESIDENT ALLSTARZ ENTERTAINMENT & FILMWERKZ !!
Who Knows...if hendrix was alive Band of Gypsies could've been the greatest prog-funk-r&b band around...Who knows what other countless masterpieces they would've produced...who knows

I don't know who was the better drummer or not, but I do know that I LOVE the music that the Band of Gypsies made, even compared to the Experience.
