  • that doesn't really sound like carl barat, sounds like noel gallagher

  • This is amazing, very hard to do The Beatles justice but this cover definitely does.

  • Wow Carl has a realy good voice. I don't think this is a song for pete though, he isn't thebest at singing high pop-y songs.

  • amazing cover

  • i wanna a band like libertines

  • Comment removed

  • love the song but man Pete and Carl should get a room wtf is with all that kissing on stage

  • @mrpsb7 because its freaking Hot!!!!

    half naked boys kissing. hmmm

    pick me pick me

  • i read the news today oh boy

  • U ruined my favourite Lennon song you bastards...

Keep of the smack, i Its making you think you can compete with the beatles, they must've been high when they thought they could pull of a cover of this. It made me physically cringe, like nails on a blackboard. ...In future please keep your second grade Beatles covers locked in a safe where they belong.

  • the strokes and the libertines are the greatest rockers of the last 10 years!!!!!!!!!

  • @escubels the stokes are shit and pussys I prefer OASIS and artic monkeys

  • @escubels The Libertines and Arctic monkeys. Not The Strokes.

  • @escubels The early Kings Of Leon too! Kasabian on their Debut were great as well, The Magic Numbers, The White Stripes Oh what an exciting time for rock n roll music 2001 - 2005.

  • IMHO This is the one of the best and maybe the best song that Beatles wrote. I love this dark other side of Beatles :-)

  • they do this song quite well... in fact, exceptionally well...

  • Biggles has it all in this sincere effort...even though im a Doherty fanatic....the good ship A !!

  • its funny I was just thinking that they have the same thing that I like about some Beatles songs where they are the most cheerful tunes but the lyrics are actually dealing with rather dark themes. Always loved that about some of the Beatles songs and same w/ Libs

  • Sorry I the Strokes will be the best Indie band, then the Libertines, the Killers, no where are the White Stripes except for Seven Nation Army.

  • @Wisconsin222 The Killers ?! mr brightside maybe, why havent arctic monkeys been mentioned ?!

  • @Wisconsin222 good mention friend....Brandon and the K,s diff class, but never forget the generosity of the Libs,,free albums, free gigs and more!

  • @Wisconsin222 lol jack white isnt indie no hes a fucking reincarnated hendrix haha strokes are ok but man THE KILLERS SERIOUSLY go and kill yourself please :) Am are indie kings <3

  • @Thecrimson08 The Killers are awesome

  • i totally agree

  • I just had a feeling, that pete would do lennons part. It felt right. I knew it before even listening

  • @WillDrache

They both sing lennon's part. Barat starts the song I thing, then Doherty begins the "he blew his mind out" part, then Barat again.

The part "wake up ..." is Barat's. And then Doherty closes the song.

That is what I am hearing though...

  • great version

  • whos the drummer? he wins this.

  • The Beatles version of this is my favourite song of ever. But I really REALLY love this as well! Both bands will live on forever whether the Libertines re-unite or not.

  • And me who thought this song was uncovorable ... My god I'm foolish I'm talkin bout Pete and Carl ,normal it's great !

  • not too shabby

  • is he died?

  • oh come on everyone needs to cop the fuck on and LISTEN!!! i love them to bits but at least i can admit this is just horrific..

  • Guys, the great thing about music is that its very subjective, so no one can really say who is the "BEST"

  • @MARMARR1 they are not on par, they never will be. They have two fucking albums for fuck sake it's not even comparable.

  • @lees2oo8 in two album's The Libs still have more good songs than t\The Beatles, that's embarassing

  • @thekillers1stfan Lmao, the beatles havn't had one bad song. They're the greatest band ever you indie fuck.

You have no clue about music obviously, if you did you'd respect the beatles for being the best band of all time, just like the rest of the world do. It's upto you what you listen to i don't give a shit to be honest. But saying a shitty heroin band is better than the beatles, is worse than saying god doesn't exist to a priest

  • @lees2oo8 shitty heroin band is a shitload better than shitty LSD band

  • @lees2oo8 i love 60's music, but the beatles were fucking boring. love me do, yellow submarine, martha my dear, p.s i love you? so soppy and shit. The stones and the who were the kings of that era.

  • @skint0n0minted -.- BORING?! Have you heard of Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band? Idiots, the lot of you's. I feel nothing but sympathy for you's. Some people are born with taste, others acquire it, you's lot just have none at all

  • @lees2oo8 YES. lovely rita, when im 64, within without you - harrisons voice was sooo boring. Lennon was the bollocks from 65 onwards when he developed attitude and a personalitty tht was the same as the other saps. sure it's opinion ya divvy. The Beatles were a manufactured pop band.

  • @lees2oo8 wasn't the same as the others* Lennon solo shit was better. He didn't have that sissy Mccartney holding him back then

  • @skint0n0minted the beatles being the greatest band ever is just as much a fact as hendrix is the greatest guitarist. Man I cba to argue with you guys, if you like this then fair enough, your choice but before anyone tries to compare the libertines to the beatles i reccomend listening to revolver...

  • @lees2oo8 don't be stupid! it's an opinion, I know many people who think the beatles and hendrix were shit. It's their view, they're welcome to it. Revolver is a pile of shite apart from 'I'm Only Sleeping' and 'Your Bird Can Sing' and 'Doctor Robert' for example 'Yellow Submarine' is awful as is 'Here, There And Everywhere' just standard pop songs.

  • @skint0n0minted Obviously you havn't listened to it with acid.

  • @lees2oo8 is that the only way to make it any good then?

  • @skint0n0minted no, but you would instantly realise how good the beatles are at constantly producing great songs.

  • @lees2oo8 really. They were soooo predictable up till around 65/66 when they did a new song you knew it was going to be a soppy love song. With The Who and The Kinks you didn't know what it was gonna be about, they were much more creative. I have listened to all thier shit and i dont think they did anything good before 1965. When Lennon became an individual and started writing songs that weren't soppy love songs.

  • @skint0n0minted no, they were a standard rock band. Their only way of making it big would be soppy love songs, so what... who doesn't love a soppy love song?! The fact they broke free of all of that, all of the fans, world tours and then produced the greatest albums the world has ever seen, rubber soul, revolver, sgt peppers and so on. The beatles are known as the greatest band in the world for one reason, because they are. If you don't like 'em then that's your loss man.

  • @lees2oo8 many people, especially when every song is about the same thing. Actually the reason they were that big is more to do with timing than anything. If the came out in the 80's or 90's they never would of been tht big. Lennon would but, but as a band, no.

  • @skint0n0minted

every song about the same thing, right.

dude, you don't seem to know more than their pre 65 work, and there were no more boundaries to push in the 80s, when michael jackson sold out to MTV the music industry died, and it's a slow and painfull death.

Because of Wacko the performance became more important than the music, the video was more prominent than the actual music.

The Beatles were to good for the 80s.

  • I think they did this song incredible justice

  • The Libs (and specially Pete) became very popular here in Italy thank to the face that he was engaged to Kate Moss. Unless most of the people wouldn't hav known of them..

  • @valerock667 si ma purtroppo!! nessuno si fila la sua musica....

  • @escubels e tralaltro ora che non è più sulle copertine di novella 2000, nessuno se lo fila più in generale.. mondo infame!

  • fucking shit, two cockneys who have no idea how deep and meaningful this song is...

  • @lees2oo8 I think you'll find Pete and Carl know more about music, literature and history than you do. You underestimate them

  • @TrimmTrabs Tbh, I've watched a few interviews... I have nothing against them as people, or even musicians. It's just this song is a masterpiece and if you can't do it justice then don't do it at all in my opinion.

  • @lees2oo8 agree. bless em they fucking murder it

  • @lees2oo8 libertines songs are more meaningful than beatles songs, listen to cant stand me now, moron.

  • @georgelikespie i can't believe any of you idiots have no respect for the greatest band in the world, I won't even argue. Shame on you's.

  • @georgelikespie Maybe meaningful to you, but beatles songs are more meaningful to this world

  • @georgelikespie @georgelikespie Maybe meaningful to you, but beatles songs are more meaningful to the world

  • ma anche no.

    trad.: but also NO.

  • They gave this masterpiece to these 2 fags!!? What a shame.....

  • Nobody can do this cover beter than the libertines!!!!!!!

  • wat a cover.. beautiful piece of music

  • this is the best cover of the Beatles' original. God Bless :)

  • "I keep a cutie with a soft booty, hoes be runnin up

"can I get your autograph l? " no bitch, I'm off duty

I'm breakin hottie hearts, niggaz drop when my shotty sparks

It ain't no food in my fridge; just body parts

I keep the gear fresh, I keep the braids rugged

I never wear rubbers bitch, if I get aids, fuck it!

A beef with me, you better prevent it cause in a minute

I'll jump out a tenant rented, and leave a nigga body dented"

  • I'm glad i found this :)

  • @jockerocks Oh, come on! is he really a "shit" have you hung out with him, how do you know he is a SHIT? Everyone has their little secret, Pete did his in front of a camera. Not so bright! However,i do not believe drug addicts are bad people, and i believe in second chances. i am addicted to opiates and have been for many years, and i think i am wonderful. LOL! Come on man, don't sweat the small stuff. he makes fun rock and roll music,.hopefully he gets his shit together, before it gets him.

  • sad that more americans dont know about the libs and doherty, havent actually really met a single peron in the states who does

  • @indiebandit1 peron? evita?

  • @diekontrolleure i cant figure out who were you were talking to in order to mention that :S

  • simply can't understand people who leave bad comments on different videos...it's so east..stay the f#$% away from these pages..dha

  • i never realised how gay they looked untill i saw these fucking gay pro pics....fucking asshole who made this shit ...bum bashing cunt

  • @sherbert500 A self loathing closet gay comment if I have ever seen one. I bet this video turn you on good and proper. xx

  • @sherbert500 you poor, poor little man.

  • This honestly sounds so much like the original it's fantastic.

  • They had to record on one track singing and on the high notes Carl and especially Pete struggled:L Shows how underated Lennon was at singing. But amazing cover though:P

  • good cover

  • im not really a HUGE fan of the libertines but this is really well done! i like how carl sings the middle..cool

  • one of my favorite bands covering one of my favorite beatles songs... awesome!

  • i think i creamed myself!

  • so fucking good

i'm form Mexico and i listen everyday to the libertines and babyshambles, just like i suposs that many people like the libertines, sadly i know that they will never come to my city here in Sonora, even my Country.

  • Pretty good :)

But i havn heard the original track so i dunno if its a bad cover xD

  • Sorry, but this is fucking dreadful.

  • the libertines are loved all the way to texas cause that's where i am

  • Ehhh, not their best performance. Carl just about gets it, but Pete's kinda iffy.

  • this is one of those songs that will be in my head if pete dies!:[

  • Drugs aside Doherty & barat are musical genious!

the libertines are the best band today and 2000 onward!

there lyrics are so meaningful and there musical influences make them what they are!i hate people who talk shit about them.in america we call those people haters and if you hate the libs you should kill yourself because you obviously dnt know good music HELL you probaly listen to justin bieber or lady gaga or some gay shit like that!

  • If i'm honest I expected this to be crap... no one touches the beatles in my opinion.... But this is really good, it's different and has its own slant, but still manages to capture the good stuff from the first song. I like it big thumbs up...

Oh and the Libs... and BabyS are Fuckin great...

  • pete and carl shag each other

  • @jarimac12 Looks like it doesn't it?

  • @jarimac12 You shag your dead dog

  • @LiamThompson94 sometimes

  • incredibly difficult song to cover, its legendary. some of the covers for this album/project were great and this one is just average. they just don't have the voices to pull it off.

  • this song proves that Carl is a much better vocal than Pete

  • @RAAAAIIIIN they both sing in this

  • Another thing about the Libertines, is that the UK is looking for the Heir Apparent for Paul Macartny, and they really really wanted Peter Doherty to be that guy.

  • Pete Doherty, is completely unknown to Americans

  • @paulgad Yeah I never realized this and only found out the other day. My friend has just got back from Colorado after being there a year. He was going to open mic nights and playing Pete Doherty/Libertines songs and people were coming up to him asking him if he rote them and when he said who they were by they just looked at him blank. Also he said quite a few people thought The Strokes were Brits!!!

  • @ROPERBOYUK You would think they would try to tap the American Market. He could be making a fortune, but they dont even try to crack the American market, and I don't really know why. His drug problems maybe?? I don't really know.

  • @ROPERBOYUK Not to this American!

  • @ROPERBOYUK Not to this American! Shout out from PA!

  • @ROPERBOYUK that isnt so true..just about everyone i know, know the libertines...and they are sure that the strokes arent brits! it really depends on where your at colorado is a very mainstream place your prob gonna find only a handful of people there that know the strokes let alone the libertines...but they dont know what thier missing out on...so fuck em..

  • @ROPERBOYUK

I'm American and I know the Libertines well...they were quite popular with a group of "hipster" kids at my high school back in like 2003 but outside that they are way underrated in the states.

  • @ROPERBOYUK He is known in the Northeast, you must understand that Colorado is pure trash. They are stuck on country music and inbreeding. I'm from Pennsylvania and am well aware of this music.

  • @paulgad americans is only...ignorance

th elibertines are a fuckin great band

    british know about rock

but americans are stupid...they only know miley cyrus and that shites

  • @LIBERTINEPARANOIC i agree, british rock is simply brilliant

  • @ferr811

Brits just got the best taste of music in the world.

  • @Vogelfrei777 I am an American, and have lived here my whole life, and besides The Ramones and maybe a couple others, I agree with your statement. All the best rock, punk bands are the best. I have always thought this and always will. If you go through my music collection, 95^ are Brits.

  • @paulgad

I wasn't really referring to the bands. I think there were (and are) fantastic US bands (The Stooges, The Ramones, Nirvana, Metallica, The Pixies, Hendrix Experience, The Doors, Kings of Leon, ...) and fantastic UK bands (Oasis, The Verve, The Stones, The Beatles, The Sex Pistols, The Libertines, ...). What I meant was, there sense for good authentic music.

Yeah and by the way, I am German.

  • @Vogelfrei777 Too funny, i am listening to the pixies as I read your response . Yes, there are a lot of good american bands too, but proportionally I think there are more good Brit bands, I was also listening to Garbage before the pixies. they are good too. I was weened on Hendrix growing up. Not a big Me metallica fan. But I get your point.

  • @paulgad

I think it also depends on what kind of rock music your into.

British bands are mainly more pop influenced. Their sound is more constant, more harmonic.

US bands are mainly more influenced by rock. So they sound more dissonent.

Symptomatical for that. The 90's. Grunge (US) and Britpop (UK).

By the way: USA - Algeria 1:0. Top of the group. Well done. Now we have to handle England at the Round of 16. : )

  • @paulgad americans = ignorance

shite culture, they know miley cyrus and they didnt know who is pete doherty

the libertines are the greatest band of the decade

  • @LIBERTINEPARANOIC Yeah I completely agree, I'm from america (notice how i don't call myself "american") and pretty much everyone has a shitty taste in music. There are people who aren't completely retarded, but the media here highlights and glorifies complete shit basically. Not only that, but I watch clips on youtube like the jonathan ross show, and it just seems like people are more "real" in the uk, and they dont bleep every fucking swear word.

  • @paulgad Paul Doherty is also completely unknown to most Britons. This is because he's a talentless little prick

  • @indyandsam .Why was you listening to his and Carls version of a beatles tune then you daft tw t if you dont rate him you should try the beatles version. What a flamming idiot.

  • @mrsdianefowler Agreed!!

  • @paulgad I'm a fan and a Chicagoan. He and many other classic English writers have inspired me to study the English language.

  • @paulgad Thats sooooooooo true i found out who they were randomly sometime in high school and ever since then ive met only one other person that knew who they were ....ive become such a huge fan of them....even of carl barat's not so successful band....i do wish and hope they get back together...would love to seem them together again. I try my best to get my friends to listen to them <3

  • @paulgad Another American here, and you're right; there are definitely not enough people in the US who know about Doherty (and many other bands for that matter). Hopefully they'll catch on eventually...

  • @paulgad false.. I'm one of those fools who pay 12 dollars for nme an issue back in the day.. So you are wrong. Ill grant you most americans are stupid so yes youre right but not all americans have bad musical taste.. Libs forever

  • @xxthekingfish You Know, I am not saying the Lib's are bad, in fact I am a big fan. I am just stating that very few Americans, know who he, or he Libertines are. I am American, and I have turned quite a few people on to them.

  • @paulgad really...? then who am i? but i do know what you are saying. I'm a huge fan, turned out a girl at my high school was a big fan as well though- had it in her music favorites on facebook!

  • @paulgad ha thats not true im american and im his biggest fan! :]

my fav muscian of all time!

  • @paulgad He is VERY well known in England.

  • @paulgad Hi! HUGE FAN here in Maryland, USA!!! I have noticed more and more posts from folks in the US. How we missed out on the LIBERTINES in the beginning is beyond me. My excuse - I had a hubby in the hospital the first few years during the first rise and fall of the LIBS. But once I found them.... I've been addicted to everything they've done... and how about that REUNION! ? WOO HOOO!!!

  • I'm from United States & I really enjoy Pete. and the shambles and Libertines. His music is very much a part of my everyday life. I dont know anyone else that listens to his music. Its a shame & I try to help guide them to his musical direction. I was very much a fan of shannon hoom from blind melon, he reminds me of him.

  • @paulgad Who cares?

  • @paulgad im american and i fucking love pete

  • Comment removed

  • @paulgad which is a good thing

  • @paulgad not all of us

  • @paulgad If they're lucky it'll stay that way.

  • @paulgad.. As are a lot of things outside America

  • @paulgad ....As are alot of things outside America

  • @paulgad

    not to this american!

  • @paulgad Just out of curiosity. Why would you name yourself after a raging deviant nonce??? Not saying you are one but why Gary Glitter????

  • harry spoon potter what do u know about music ya wee turd british music is every way linked to drug taking the beatles took acid for 40days40night

  • This is a brilliant tribute to the best band of all time

  • Top!

  • Mediocre singing, medicocre performance. This guy is only famous for being a drug addict and dealer to Kate Moss. There's even a section where they're rattling on about what effects they can/can't use, so boring.

  • @hostingturan i hope posting negative comments makes your life worth living

  • SUPERBE !

  • hahaha awh my god this makes me laugh..love love love the libs like they're my favoureet band but god did they murder this album:) Only certain people can cover the beatles successfully... Jimi for example..haha like their effort tho.!

  • @actuallyactually lol...please tell me where those covers are!!!

i have heard many and 99% are a crap!!! this one is in the 1% that are not

and im not a libertines fan (in fact i dont know their songs)

really this song cant be coverd much better..its really good....

and ive been hearing beatles covers by supposed good bands that made me wanna puke, cry and die.

  • i adore pete's voice

  • i dunno its kinda better than the beatles one tbh

  • of course is not as good as the beatle's one but it's a good one

  • one word for this amazing absalootly amazing

  • you are gay too

  • esses cara eh gay

  • you lot argueing really need to get a life :-)

  • My god, you really LOVE Pete Doherthy. That's dedication...

  • @websterpne. No comment was directed at you, i just favour not being entirely literate when using a site such as youtube. Better ?

You can ask me nearly anything about the libertines, babyshambles anything. I know whats more important.

    Peace

  • hes a fukin godlike LEGEND. nobody agrees with the smack, but FUK cant pple jus listen to him ??? hes jus....beautiful

    X

  • fucking right.

  • @penelopeb22 learn to fucking spell, then i will take note of the comment you are making

  • did they do the whole album? if they did can i download it somewhere

  • @edmatper have you red the book????

is that a part of the song???

you're an idiot... don't you?? and anyway.. wtf you mean with "horribly sung"??? if you compare it to the beatles voices... well, no one can sing like them... but you wish you can sing like pete or carl!!!!

    so shut up you asshole!!

  • @edmatper listen little star.... what i mean was... 1. the song says "having READ the book!!!" ok??

    2. if Libertines is not real music... well, get back to disney ok??

    3. so you're better than the beatles even in their own songs...??? that's according to your fans... your fans must be your parents?? brothers?? friends?? or maybe just deaf...

    so i wasn't wrong... you're really an asshole isn't?

  • @kmylo4 I play in several bands and in those bands I have a beatles cover band. We play in France, Switzerland, Belgium, Italia and in september, we go to China and Japan.
