@melikeit7 I have never seen an Arab who knew about the dance and liked Didem's interpretation of Oum Kolsoum songs, or of other great Egyptian classics. Much of the time she dances off-beat or at least uses movements that are unnatural to express the type of instrumental and melodic structures present. I would be curious to see if really your 40 person Arabic family enjoys Didem dance to Oum Kolsoum. f.e. watch?v=vFY-HDXZM4E

@3younek I learned Belly Dance in Tunisia and Egypt and I can assure you I take tips from Didem even if she's Turkish and I m sure many Arabs do so but dont want to admit it. Didem is technical ..so what? since when technique is considered as bad? she has a great body, amazing technique and fantastic dance .

Interesting that people quote two dancers that are not really bellydancers as the example of best bellydance: Sadie and Rachel Brice.
They do a version of a cultural dance in Sadie's case also to traditional music, yet nothing of the original thing is left except for some superficialities like shimmies and hip drops etc.
But of course Didem is also not what I would call a bellydancer.
They all are dancers to Arab music, but get nothing of the heritage, or very little, sadly.

The lyrics even if you dance to an instrumental song; the rhythm and melodic structures and how they are danced to, because there IS right and wrong - people who apply the wrong movements to rhythms and melodic structures just like unknowing, amateurish and foreign to Arabs.

Didem is really really good there is no getting around it. But, Sadie is much better hands down! She has better choreography, she is much more in time with her music, more gracefull. And above all else she looks like she's having a good time and smiles alot. Didem is beautiful but she looks like she's being forced to dance against her will. She does smile a little but I gues that part of it comes with age. I'm sure she will come to look more comfortable eventually.
No that's now what he talks about he talks about how hos mother asked him, " My Son does this girl have any bones in her body or doesn't she?" Because she is so flexible and can do anything. And then he makes a joke about how you know when you go to the butcher and ask for meat with or without bone.
Before that he talks about some CD or DVD that she has that was to be released and they couldn't fit it into that week and then he says hwo she was in Germany the day before and stuff like that. And he asks her what he should say to his mom, does she have any bones or not and she nods and he says that he'll tell her that she has no bones in her body and then he jokes and says that she has only one bone in her entire body and stuff like that. i know about belly dancin and am sure more than u cuz it's in my arabic blood,and to let u know belly dancing or rather the oriental dance has many styles and didem do a special style and there still many more,u should learn about it,and she's good in this style and she tried some other styles in oriental dance and she was good at them as well;)

Didem is really really good there is no getting around it. But, Sadie is much better hands down! She has better choreography, she is much more in time with her music, more gracefull. And above all else she looks like she's having a good time and smiles alot. Didem is beautiful but she looks like she's being forced to dance against her will. She does smile a little but I gues that part of it comes with age. I'm sure she will come to look more comfortable eventually.

No that's now what he talks about he talks about how hos mother asked him, " My Son does this girl have any bones in her body or doesn't she?" Because she is so flexible and can do anything. And then he makes a joke about how you know when you go to the butcher and ask for meat with or without bone.

Before that he talks about some CD or DVD that she has that was to be released and they couldn't fit it into that week and then he says hwo she was in Germany the day before and stuff like that. And he asks her what he should say to his mom, does she have any bones or not and she nods and he says that he'll tell her that she has no bones in her body and then he jokes and says that she has only one bone in her entire body and stuff like that. i know about belly dancin and am sure more than u cuz it's in my arabic blood,and to let u know belly dancing or rather the oriental dance has many styles and didem do a special style and there still many more,u should learn about it,and she's good in this style and she tried some other styles in oriental dance and she was good at them as well;)

i'm an arab.. by my grandpa is turkish.. i was born dancing belly dance .. Didem is great .. really . she's professional, i love her way of dance .. and i'm gonna practice her dance so i would perform it in a graduation party at home . she's great.
