Poor pup, it's gotta drive him nuts. When I got mine neutered the only thing I could do to keep him from licking the incision was to spray his belly and that area with the 'Bitter Break' stuff, it's a natural chewing/licking deterrent and my vet said it was safe to spray the incision with. I actually just used it on my cat for her spaying also and it worked just as well. That might be something for you to try next time you have a pet that wont stop because I went through two e-collars with mine.
Are the shorts a real treatment? I don't see how that could possibly be effective. It's very humorous though. My cat was coned before and the result was completely different. Just shut down and moped around and licked the inside of his cone incessantly.
My dog had surgery wed. she had 3 tumors removed. I have been worried about her non stop, she licked one of her sutures out and the vet said I dont need to put another one, just let it heal, he gave me cream with it too, now she has the e collar on, she hates it! She better not tear it to pieces.. She is a german Shepherd, When I got her spayed when she was a puppy, she tore the e collar to pieces.. She is 6 now, let's see what she does..

He had a retained testicle so the surgery was more invasive and it took FOREVER to heal. It would seem to heal, then it'd turn into a large blood blister and open all over again. Luckily, our second puppy was already fixed when we got him (6 months).

Funny thing...our little girl is spayed and glued and you'd never know. Is it just a guy thing? It must be more pride than anything! Lol!
