Nice idea, but you don't think that a couple more solar panels instead, would a) make it cheaper, b) make it sturdier, and c) take up less space, time, and maintenance? ;-)

Yes. But spare a lot of terrain by cascade / step configuration and increase energy yield by factor of 3  approximately.
