I hope they release this as a DVD. I really wanna hear Page's lead playing with good sound quality. When I heard about the reunion I was excited but didn't have unrealistic expectations. Page has destroyed his chops from years of drug abuse and add in a broken finger and I'm kind of expecting sloppy lead playing. Then again, he can totally come out of nowhere and remind you how good he is like in the Page/Plant gig in 1994.

He cant get quiet as high but come on hes 60, he can still sing a a hell of a lot better then anyone else I know out there. In Kashmir he does a great singing performance in that, its almost like he hasnt aged. Still a very strong voice just cant get the high ones.
In some ways, I actually like Plant's voice better now than it was before. It's much more rounded and controlled and doesn't crack like wet paint. Sure he can't hit the high notes anymore, but since when did hitting high notes equal good singing?
I agree, I just miss when he screams more then hitting the high ones, but he has done a great job of adjusting to his new voice and not trying to get out of control with it.
I heard Zepp in their prime, and judging from the videos they still kick most other bands' butts, including old bands! The fans who've taken a slagging for their honest views aren't wrong: we HAVE sounded better.
We did this one for Ahmet Ertegun, a visionary who gave us our start, and many other Rock and R&B acts: Aretha, Sam & Dave, Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding, Booker T & the MGs, Yes, AC/DC, and Foreigner.
Remember what the music really means. Now where's that confounded bridge?

Yes, if you're too young to die then you're not too old to rock'n'roll! Keep it going and nevermind those who have not yet seen the light! (or been laid, whichever comes first!)
i dont see wut's wrong with this..it sounds good to me. sure, plant's voice isn't what it used to be, but even back in their hey-day he had trouble replicating the studio sound live.

keep drinking the kool aid - - this is awful. caveat with oh, they're sixty years old..blah, blah, blah - it is bloody unlistenable and a true detriment to their greatness. it reminds me of Jimmy Stewart and Bob Hope and Dick Clark - these guys had to be dragged away from the stage. Dick Clark had a stroke, drooled, and couldn't talk and still tried to be on TV - Bob Hope could barely talk and this is beyond sad - i actually feel sorry for these guys
And all these jackass wannabe Zep fans who wouldn't know the REAL Led Zeppelin if it flew up behind them and spanked them with a violin bow.
Sandy Koufax retired. Muhammad Ali retired (and HE was the GREATEST.) The lads of Led Zeppelin need to walk away while they have their integrity intact. This concert was a travesty.
I hate 3 things in life: Child molesters, Rapists, and self righteous egocentric idiots like you who have the logistical capacity of a down syndrome bag of hammers.
Ali got busted up too much to fight anymore...these guys can still play..maybe i never saw the "real zeppelin" play but these guys can still play, if you cant see that..maybe you need to open your eyes
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
oh, this is still awful - its like seeing a washed up punk drunk boxer trying to regain his prime and fight - pathethic!! stay retired - its like Milton Berle at 90 trying to be hip and funny!! GIVE IT UP
t's totally unrealistic to expect 60 year-olds to sing or play like they did when they were 25. It's an indignity to themselves and the fans who truly love them to see them as old codgers hobbling around, croaking and coughing.
It's like a loved-one with some debilitating disease -- you want to remember them in their prime, in their health and strength. It breaks your heart to see them like this.
These sorry-looking geezers, my god, what were they thinking:
Robert: No Jimmy, don't worry about dyeing your hair, it'll look groovy all white. What's that? Hey, between you & me there's 122 years of Rock 'n Roll!
Jimmy: Do you think we'll have to share the bill with a puppet show. My grandkids want to go to Sea World, y'know?
Hard to watch this when you've seen 'em in their glory. Gods once, geezers now.
Everyone couches their praise: "pretty good for old guys."
Open your ears: Plant's voice is on electronic life support, Page, aside from looking like Gandalf, is sloppy, his licks lifeless.
This is embarrassing to see. It's like watching Ali in those sad comebacks. You knew there was never a better boxer in his prime, but to see him humiliated, well, it was shameful.
All of you, especially you Optic can go fuck yourselves. It's not off-key or out of tune, they tuned it down for a reason you MORON. Yes it was because Robert's voice is weaker and whatever, but he's going to be FUCKING 60 YEARS OLD!!! COME BACK HERE WHEN YOU'RE THAT AGE AND TRY TO OUT-SING HIM! Assholes. LED ZEPPELIN ROCK.
what the hell are people listening to? This sounds good - its bloody awful, off-key, out of tune and its really a shame -
GRace Slick said rock music is for youth and she stopped because she thought she looked awful on stage - guys - give it up !! Get me Pearl Jam or something - this is really sad - i'd rather listen to Captain and Tennielle at least they grow old gracefully
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Oh this is just too sad.
Rock music MEANS YOUTH. There's a fundamental incongruity between lyrics about watching hone drip and a 60 year-old geezer hobbling around on stage singing those lyrics (or a 63 year-old, white-haired guitarist.)
Breaks my heart to see once mighty rock gods tarnishing their legend.
WALK AWAY, GENTS, WALK AWAY WITH YOUR INTEGRITY INTACT!
Youth is a state of mind...it is about hope and optimism....one can have such a state of mind at any age. A song is an intangible entity...it does not discriminate the age or appearance of the performer. What matters is the quality of the song performance.
Hey, sorry you don't watching the best band EVER play, but you can GTFO while the rest of us enjoy them while they're still touring.
Rock means passion. They still have it. People still love them, they're still unbelievable, and you're a hard-ass who needs to stop looking for perfection.
you are spot on - this is so awful - Its like seeing a sixy five year old guy with liver spots and having an open neck shirt trying to pick up somebody in a high school -
It sounds awful - it is ruining their legacy and i think they should leave that music to the younger guys - this is beyond sad and i deplore the media hype - did everybody drink the Kool Aid? Jagger, McCartney, Plant - Page give it up - you guys are too old to rock
People are seriously going to sit here and knock on Plant's voice. He's about to turn 60, almost all singers don't do the high pitched notes like they used to. His voice is fucking great for his age. Go find the video of Kashmir, then say he doesnt have it...
I was there last night and it was truly awesome. I had standing tickets and was within sight of Brian May. Never saw anybody else, especially Dave Grohl who Robert Plant referred too twice during their concert... hmmm..
im laughing at the comment below: "respect for our teachers" no one has respect for teachers anymore. I know because I'm a music teacher and I have to deal with it every day. You'd think the kids would enjoy learning from someone who knows music but they could care less
maybe a dvd of the whole concert in the future??? im hoping becausei knew about this concert and was hoping to see some of it somewhere on here or whatever but, i duno.
Please release a DVD It would mean a lot to those of us who couldn't witness this amazing concert.

Yes, if you're too young to die then you're not too old to rock'n'roll! Keep it going and nevermind those who have not yet seen the light! (or been laid, whichever comes first!)
PercyTheGardner 4 years ago
i dont see wut's wrong with this..it sounds good to me. sure, plant's voice isn't what it used to be, but even back in their hey-day he had trouble replicating the studio sound live.

keep drinking the kool aid - - this is awful. caveat with oh, they're sixty years old..blah, blah, blah - it is bloody unlistenable and a true detriment to their greatness. it reminds me of Jimmy Stewart and Bob Hope and Dick Clark - these guys had to be dragged away from the stage. Dick Clark had a stroke, drooled, and couldn't talk and still tried to be on TV - Bob Hope could barely talk and this is beyond sad - i actually feel sorry for these guys
optic125 4 years ago
It's sad, isn't it?
And all these jackass wannabe Zep fans who wouldn't know the REAL Led Zeppelin if it flew up behind them and spanked them with a violin bow.
Sandy Koufax retired. Muhammad Ali retired (and HE was the GREATEST.) The lads of Led Zeppelin need to walk away while they have their integrity intact. This concert was a travesty.
Margaux177 4 years ago

a travesty i'd like to see you play a sell out concert like this after over 25 years not playing.

I hate 3 things in life: Child molesters, Rapists, and self righteous egocentric idiots like you who have the logistical capacity of a down syndrome bag of hammers.

Ali got busted up too much to fight anymore...these guys can still play..maybe i never saw the "real zeppelin" play but these guys can still play, if you cant see that..maybe you need to open your eyes

oh, this is still awful - its like seeing a washed up punk drunk boxer trying to regain his prime and fight - pathethic!! stay retired - its like Milton Berle at 90 trying to be hip and funny!! GIVE IT UP

this performance was awesome!!!People that say it was bad are probably beatles fans?If this is bad?what is good????

t's totally unrealistic to expect 60 year-olds to sing or play like they did when they were 25.

NigelTufnelIII 4 years ago

Hard to watch this when you've seen 'em in their glory. Gods once, geezers now.
Everyone couches their praise: "pretty good for old guys."
Open your ears: Plant's voice is on electronic life support, Page, aside from looking like Gandalf, is sloppy, his licks lifeless.
This is embarrassing to see. It's like watching Ali in those sad comebacks. You knew there was never a better boxer in his prime, but to see him humiliated, well, it was shameful.
Like this comeback. Retire Zep, PLEASE!
pdwalsh67 4 years ago
All of you, especially you Optic can go fuck yourselves. It's not off-key or out of tune, they tuned it down for a reason you MORON. Yes it was because Robert's voice is weaker and whatever, but he's going to be FUCKING 60 YEARS OLD!!! COME BACK HERE WHEN YOU'RE THAT AGE AND TRY TO OUT-SING HIM! Assholes. LED ZEPPELIN ROCK.
218gordon328 4 years ago
what the hell are people listening to? This sounds good - its bloody awful, off-key, out of tune and its really a shame -
GRace Slick said rock music is for youth and she stopped because she thought she looked awful on stage - guys - give it up !! Get me Pearl Jam or something - this is really sad - i'd rather listen to Captain and Tennielle at least they grow old gracefully

Margaux177 4 years ago
Youth is a state of mind...it is about hope and optimism....one can have such a state of mind at any age. A song is an intangible entity...it does not discriminate the age or appearance of the performer. What matters is the quality of the song performance.
siroptimistic 4 years ago 3

Jagger, McCartney, Plant - Page give it up - you guys are too old to rock
optic125 4 years ago
Lmao, they were never good anyways are you honestly surprised that they got WORSE?
nixation 4 years ago
Maybe if this generation wasn't totally void of creativity the two biggest things going now wouldn't be the Zeppelin and the Van Halen reunions.
timbrown321 4 years ago
It is not about creativity.
It is about who the recored companies decide to produce.
Rock and roll is used to subvert society, and society has become so fucked up, they are now able to sell people rap.

People are seriously going to sit here and knock on Plant's voice. He's about to turn 60, almost all singers don't do the high pitched notes like they used to. His voice is fucking great for his age. Go find the video of Kashmir, then say he doesnt have it...

im laughing at the comment below: "respect for our teachers" no one has respect for teachers anymore. I know because I'm a music teacher and I have to deal with it every day. You'd think the kids would enjoy learning from someone who knows music but they could care less

Methinks you're all missing the point.
They still deliver the songs.
They have a great stage show.
They have an adoring fan base, some of whom are younger than your dogs.
And they still do it better than any "imitators" or "influenced by" bands.
Like Keith Richards, "they cannot be killed by conventional weapons".
Forget age, these guys deserve your respect as real rockers.

Plant lost his voice back in 1973 or so. He sounds even worse now. I'm seriously doubting if he could actually sing his way out of a paper bag now.
