Well done Curtis and Kurt2112. I saw them in Athens GA on this tour, probably within days of this show. Wish Marty still used a Rick (and delay) on this song. The last two times I saw them recently, it just doesn't sound right.
Saw them a bit on the weekends around 1981-2??? in small Sydney pubs.
Just saw them last week in Qld Australia with 50 people and a few beers in a small country venue for their acoustic show. 29 years on and still as relevant and entertaining as ever... 'Aussie Stones' could be applicable.
What incredible footage - so well shot, and captures the mood of the room and the sheer sonic pleasure of MWP and PK's shimmering guitar playing. A great Aussie band, great songs, still worth listening to. New album released last month meant to be great
Great performance!!! Ever sinse I heard this song I fell in love with it!! and the whole of Starfish!! They're so underrated. The Church deserve much more credit for their amazing music!!
GReat video and what a great performance! Koppes and Wilson-Pipper are very underrated players. Together they shie even more! The end is really amazing.
I saw these boys a few years ago at Slims in San Francisco. Great show. Marty is by far the most charismatic performer of the group. It's weird to see him look so sad in this video.
I wasn't at the 1990 Gold Afternoon Tour and damn I regret it, it's such a shame for me although they went to Paris at this time.Such a shame that Peter Koppes do not take anymore guitar solos on tour which is now devolued to Marty.Marty is more exuberant I guess, but Koppes has more technique...Great period, great album and great video!
Apparently Kilbey is clean now, who knows?Their latest album is excellent.
Yeah, y'all are right on the audio (could prefer better) however this is great footage; makes me feel like I really am in the audience. Hell, when you're up close like that it's about what the audio sounds like anyhow! Are they 'still' clean or is the needle dictating their lives again? Would be a shame if so.
I was at this show. It's a long story, but Marty and Steve had been at it before the show; the promoters had moved the gig from a large theater to a smaller 'comedy club' for the latter's grand opening. The same person owned both venues; this was his way of guaranteeing that the new place was packed on the innaugural evening - much to the inconvenience of the fans and the band.
great clip including the distorted and limited sound.
Fantastic use of natural lighting and choice of shots, Steve's right fingers during one of the choruses for example, but I do wave to ask one question.....
Sound could be a bit cleaner, but splendid "down front" live footage. Guitar freaks can see exactly what Peter and Marty are doing on this version. From the 1990 Gold Afternoon Fix tour with guest drummer Jay Dee Daugherty (of the Patti Smith Group).

How to play Reptile. Cool. Saw them in Dublin 2 years ago. Steves voice was shot to bits.
Marty Wilson Piper. Genius. Soaring guitar at end should go on for another 10 minutes in my opinion ! LOL

The Church rule OK. My favourite band. I just love how the 2 guitarists share the lead and basically having duelling guitars.

marty look like he is struggling with his guitar... I know h had his Rickenbacker stolen before they made GAF... I think he is using a 6 string...

Weird. I was at this show. How random is that. I bought a t-shirt that everyone made fun of. Sweet memories. Good song.

eh...the continuing "soap opera" of the church!! 16 years later and much hasn't changed ;)

Very much so! We saw the band in SC last week, where Marty left the stage after the first few numbers with a 'migraine'.
