On my Dad's side my Great-Grandmother's maiden name was "Waddington," the history of which was recorded in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicles as a village founded in what is now Lancashire by the people of an North Anglian chieftan Wada Dux. I can imagine my very distant ancestors and the way they lived by watching this.
