I know I'm a bit late on this since you posted this on Sep 29, 2009 and I just found it August 25, 2011. I have to say, it actually was very touching. I'm considering doing something similar as you, but it's called getting a "sleeve" instead of full gastric bypass. My highest was 454lbs, I'm now down to 384lbs on my own. Congrats on your success. I also had the Gastric Bypass. All through High School, I weighed 210. I wrestled, played football and baseball from 5th grade, all the way through High school. I was also into weightlifting. After I graduated, I slowly gained weight. 15 years later, my weight was at 485 lbs. The doctors said my metabolism crashed and suggested Gastric Bypass. 1 year after having the surgery, I had list 175 lbs. Now I am at a standstill.

Way to go!! I am 4 months post op and am down 62. My highest weight was 420 lbs, I got down to 361 and then was accepted into the bariatric program and my weight on surgery day was 330. Great vid. I just had my surgery on dec 14th. I started at 396lbs and lost 77 pounds by straight dieting. I was 319lbs at the time of surgery and I've lost 26 pounds in the last two weeks. Still have a way to go, but your videos have helped me realize that I will get there.

Good Job! My wife had it done and she lost 224 lbs.! It takes dedication and will power just to do it! Because my wife had to lose 1/4th of her weight by herself before insurance would cover it! So, she lost 60 lbs. before her surgery! Insurance then covered it! She looks great now! P.S. yorkpattie1976, let me tell you something, its not that easy! My wife had to practically starve herself just to lose 60 lbs.! U try it sometime! That means, No pizza, no hamburgers, nothing greasy nor fatty!

@mattlovesall Matt, you are definitely on the right track in having Gastric By-Pass Surgery. I had the Roux-in-Y procedure 4 months ago and was back to work in 6 weeks. Am today down 75 pounds so far with a goal of losing 110 (for a goal weight of 180). I eat unbelievably small meals now and am never hungry. Go for it!

Remarkable transformation. I am about to begin the trip down this same path with a bit of trepidation but looking at so many success stories including in my own family I think it is worth the risks vs known problems if something doesn't happen. I loved the video, I'm 17 and I weight 279 my mom really wants me to get this surgery done, i have high blood pressure an heart problems. And I haven't decided about surgery or not, I was wondering do you have exes skin or like are you flaby pls do nt take in wrong way I jar wuld low to know so I can decide. Way to go!! I am 4 months post op and am down 62. My highest weight was 420 lbs, I got down to 361 and then was accepted into the bariatric program and my weight on surgery day was 330. I'm now at 268 and counting! Its been a wild ride! and I can't wait to reach my goal of 185! Keep up the hard work!

you look fantastic and so does your wife :-) I took the first step and got a referral from a doc here in Perth Australia. My appt is in the beginning of March 11 and my husband is going to do it too. I can't wait to start and do it. I'm not sure what I'm going too do whether it's the band or the tube or cutting some of the stomach. I guess that's questions for the surgeon. I want to happen now but am so inspired by your journey and thank you for putting your life on you tube :-)

i really like this video, i just got gastric bypass on 12/22/10, and i'm doing great, my weight the day of the surgery was 377 and i already lost 25#, keep up the great work.

Great vid. I just had my surgery on dec 14th. I started at 396lbs and lost 77 pounds by straight dieting. I was 319lbs at the time of surgery and I've lost 26 pounds in the last two weeks. Still have a way to go, but your videos have helped me realize that I will get there.

I feel like were brothers. I'm one mouth out & 30pds down. 1st day back golfing & I can tell the difference. I don't feel like I've lost much weight but my family & friends all say they can tell. I look forward to seeing how I like in 11 mon. Any suggestions would be grateful... Tks!

Good Job! My wife had it done and she lost 224 lbs.! It takes dedication and will power just to do it! Because my wife had to lose 1/4th of her weight by herself before insurance would cover it! So, she lost 60 lbs. before her surgery! Insurance then covered it! She looks great now! P.S. yorkpattie1976, let me tell you something, its not that easy! My wife had to practically starve herself just to lose 60 lbs.! U try it sometime! That means, No pizza, no hamburgers, nothing greasy nor fatty!

I'm really happy for you bro! I want to talk to my Doc, but part of me is embarrassed to admit that I think I might be a candidate for GBP. I'm at 300 plus lbs and I just cant believe that I didn't really see it coming, sounds stupid I know. I guess we see what we want.

Was it extremely painful? I'm hoping to go for the surgery within the next year. Did you have alot of problems after the surgery, did you have to have any other surgeries afterwards or be addmitted to the hospital at all?

@mattlovesall Matt, you are definitely on the right track in having Gastric By-Pass Surgery. I had the Roux-in-Y procedure 4 months ago and was back to work in 6 weeks. Am today down 75 pounds so far with a goal of losing 110 (for a goal weight of 180). I eat unbelievably small meals now and am never hungry. Go for it!

Im happy for you i wish i had money to have gastic bypass surgery.Every day i wake up and think to myself is this the last day i will live the last time i will see my family im 395lb and i tryed all the eat healthy parts i exercise for a long time and still i see my self a big guy.If i had one wish just one wish of my life i will wish to have enough money to pay for surgery or to have health insurance to help me pay.I see my self as a fat guy that has no life to live no more.But im holding on

Just watched your vid here and if mine goes as well as yours did i will be well pleased. I go in for the bypass surgery on May 13 2010, less than a week away and i cant wait, it will be the first day of my new life after 40 years of battling with my weight. Remarkable transformation. I am about to begin the trip down this same path with a bit of trepidation but looking at so many success stories including in my own family I think it is worth the risks vs known problems if something doesn't happen.
