If you put a square frame on top of the T-shape bar, then you should have 2 in 1. By the way, Tim Ferriss uses this exact t-bar setup in his book "The Four Hour Body".
WOW! Just.....WOW O_O! I'm already amazed by a lot of DIY stuff, & just when I was thinking that there's nothing more for DIY (excluding science projects AND conventions), Rick shared me this. Man, this is awesome =D! Definitely a fave!
@Loyal2law Thanks very much for the kind words. I am always pleased if I can help out. I learned so much from all the great guys in the community that it puts me to shame. So if every now and the may two cents prove usefull that is great. What kind of science you`re intertested in ?
@Rohan4basu I am looking into that dumbbell thing. Th enew house gives me a complete workshop, and I can knock myself off with tinkering. However dumbbell handles do npt cost so much where I live. Since they are fairly standard my guess is that making your own dumbbell is not going to make that much of a difference for the budget.
In Summer I might experiment with cement to see if I can make DIY weights. But that will take a while.
TU! awesome Silk, I've had the pleasure of using Kettlebells in the past and they provide a great workout. I like how it's not just a static isolated workout but uses the body as a whole and develops explosiveness.
That is excellent Martin I have been using kettlebells for a couple of months now and love working out with them. However I had to buy some for our work gym and was amazed at how much money they are . Here in Canada they are usually charging $2 a lb which is extremely expensive. That is an amazing design you have made. Thank you for sharing . Thumbs up brother. Good point on the safety check . The nice part with yours is that you can change the weight as opposed to buying a whole set.
That's a very nice and practical solution, thanks for sharing it. Too bad that there is a serious lack of good hardware stores in my area. I'd really wish for a good old German Baumarkt here...
Another possibility is to fill a sturdy bag that has the right kind of strap with some packages of sand and use that as a primitive improvised kettlebell.
@SkallagrimNilsson If you are after an DIY solution with bags look for the keyword bulgarian bag.
There are some very good insttuctions on how to make them on utube. And tons of clips showing how to use the, Basic materials are duct tape (what can be built without it LOL ) old rubber hoses and sand.
Please note: standard weights in the US have 2 holes sizes. Make sure your weights and your pipe match in size.

@bright5086200 Tell ya what: You introduce my voice to Hollywood, and if they cast me you get five percent after tax on my first three gigues.
Sadly though in real life much of the voice comes from an empty room.
