joe12lins is clearly right, Stand Up Bonus Disc is not an "album"... it's a compilation as a bonus to the actual SU album. Sugar Will has never had set lyrics, that's what it wasn't included in a studio version for Stand Up.

Sugar Will CLEARLY does not have set lyrics and never has. The reason it was not on Stand Up was because Dave could not get the lyrics to a place where he wanted them, and was "heartbroken" that he didn't.

um, this song has never been on an album. and almost every if not every version of this song has been different in lyrics. which is why it was on a three year hiatus, because Dave was not able to write down some set lyrics to the song.

Um, yea it was. Sugar Will (live version at Gorge 3 September 2004) was included on Warehouse companion cd when Stand Up compact disk hit the record stores.

he said album, to me that signifies some sort of studio album, unless other wise stated. unless of course he somehow has the version of this song in studio with Trey Anastasio. and still, he is acting as if different lyrics in this song is a rare thing, i dont think any one version of this song has the same lyrics as another version.

Sugar Will was recorded on a mass-produced album (actually, a compact disc) which accompanied the StandUp pre-sale album (also a cd) which you obviously don't own (and we do). Filmtress is also correct that Dave sang entirely different Sugar Will lyrics at the San Diego concert for no other reason than to honor Roi. The chorus, however remained unchanged.

Thanks for FINALLY admitting Sugar Will is on the Stand Up companion cd (which is a mass produced album ... fyi: not all mass-produced albums are "studio" ... they can be "live" or "compilation" or both). And thanks for FINALLY admitting the OP's discerning ear picked up the different lyrics.
