  • were can i get the logan penetrator pellets the ones that look like bullets from in the uk and do you no if anywere in the uk sells the pellets with the metal tips with the plastic coating(hyper velocity pellets) i think they are called

  • hmm strange, i can penetrade my shed with any pellet .177 with my hw100...

  • Comment removed

  • Judging by their condition I'd say the Logun Penetrator could survive through more layers.

The power limits on UK rifles limits testing somewhat.

Perhaps repeat the test using an FAC power air rifle?

  • I use the zinc thunder bolt .22 they do me just fine

  • This video is so boring that it make gloss paint look like fun.

    The test was rubbish.

Talk about long and drawn out, I couldn't bear to finish the video.

  • @gunvidder

(cont'd) I'm unsure of the legislation where you live, but in my experience I would not suggest shooting anything but small birds, if that, with any less than an 800 fps rated pellet rifle. The 1000fps+ .177's or 800+ .22's in my opinion are far more humane and effective, getting ample penetration even on larger creatures like Groundhogs, Raccoon, and the likes. Using a 600 fps pellet rifle for anything larger than a bird will require deep penetration, and will not work very well.

  • @gunvidder

I'm sorry but this video seems a bit unfocused and makes little sense to me. Mentioning the consideration for tests as well as humane shots is admirable...but to use pellets from a .177 without giving us an idea of the fps isn't very helpful. Furthermore; four layers of tanned leather is far beyond the resistance of any game suitable for a .177, .22, or .25 pellet.

For small game even up to rabbits, penetration will be adequate with an adequate pellet rifle. (cont)

  • u soud like ur name should be nigel

  • is it illigal to shoot blue tits, sparrows and swallows PLEASE REPLY

  • Ow,and I dont have to shoot pigskin to know the result..My pellets go flying through half an inch of wood and i still need a very good backstop.

  • Im happy with my .25 H&N baracudas and silverpoints..But then again,i have a full power webley patriot.Whats the use of a penetration test with a 12 ft/p air rifle i wonder? You really should have your airgun laws looked at,thats ridiculous.

  • 0:15 x_x face haha

  • what is the name of that black target well the cirlce?

  • you should try gamo red fire- in my experience it has devastating penetration

  • ive got a .22 air rifel

i was wondering what is the best pellet for killing rabbits

    plz message ur favorites

  • therible accent

  • nice comparison. Thanks

  • I like squashing the skirt of a .177 into a .22, you can hear certain ones break the sound barrier (light ones obviously). That's more fun that shooting .22s in a .22 rifle.

  • ok thx is there tin mix in them to?

  • is the bisley magnum a lead pellet?

  • @dahui1463 Yes a lead pellet

  • @gunvidder a friend told me that tin pellets, the soft ones are poisonous if they penetrate your skin and you mustn't eat a bird if it has been pierced with a tin pellet. Is this true? answer me asap cause i' ve eaten a bird with a tin pellet inside ( i put it out before eating)

  • @dahui1463 What would you say are the best .177 lead free pellets?

  • @MakNCheezed depends for what your using them for if its for hunting i would go ones that dont have so much lead on them so it wont get on your game meat

  • U can use pemican he'll at the store. The stuff next to jello. Use half watter than the box says. It's the closest thing to balistic jell.

It's verry cheap to. It's great stuff for fixing a cigar to. Mmmmm ! Now I want a cigar.

  • @Lvduggo69 Not seen Pemican localy but I'll keep looking, thanks for the tip. Cigar ? mmmm Cuban ??

  • i understand nothing.............

  • hobbies have shit accuracy, and the impact at times is crap, and mate what part of the west midlands you from in the west midlands my self

  • @ddkntc4lyfe Hobbies arn't that bad, I have found heavier flats seem better though. Saying that,, good for short range especially as they are cheaper than a few others that have no accuracy gain. I'm south of B'Ham.

  • i subbed!! now try this with the 22

  • @The177Hunter Thanks for the sub, I'm getting a selection of .22 pellets together but many of what's available in 177 isn't available in 22 so some comparisons can't be made, like the 177 pellets though I've a good variety & hope to start soon, just a few more different ones to get.

  • do you have any hollow point pellets?

i love using those with my pellet gun

  • i enjoy your voice^^

  • 5 star great vid very informative i have subscribed! by the way you sound like you am from the west midlands

  • @dannyjw123 Thanks for the sub & comments. Yep local lad about 14mls from your front door If I'm guessing correctly.

  • i got a glycerin soap penetration video, i like your high qualiy video closeups on the pellets, and the leather videos i nice to see. the soap i use is sold in blocks at craft stores and i love the stuff.

  • @1942nuclear I look it up, I've been thinking of makeing some ballistic gel maybe the soap will be a good alternative ??

  • @gunvidder thanks for reply, also i have some pellet videos in my uploads, you may have to scroll down a bit to see some, the newer one i cast resin down hollow point holes to display pellet and its expansion in solid form to keep for a display.

  • @1942nuclear Nice one, I like it very much, very good idea.

  • Aww.....hit marker

  • Dude, you need to move to the US where you can test penetration from an AR, AK, .308, .45, or anything else you can think of.

  • Well made informative video done with wise words, draw your own conclusions and think what you are going to do with your ammo. The Loguns have best penetration I find but in my HW100 Webley mosquitoes are best for accuracy. the flat heads transfer the most energy into the body of some thing like a rat but when I shoot rats I only shoot at the brain and use Webley mosquitoes, they do go through but still kill instantly!

  • Would a UK legal air rifle pierce a human skull? (No intentions of proving such a hypothesis, hehehe).

  • @JapsEye2 No idea but I'd of thought there would be weak & strong parts so if hit in the right/wrong place I suppose it would smash through at close range. Not easily but just possible.

  • @gunvidder Right. Thanks.

  • @gunvidder Ok, thanks.

  • @JapsEye2 - It's possible with 0.45mm rifle.

The temple is very thin but another spot that comes to mind that even some martial artist can poke their finger through your skull; The paper thin bone behind the eye. It requires lots of "hard body training" naturally (=hardening bones and deadening nerves of different body parts, sometimes also fingers.)

The skull is only few news paper pages thick behind the eye, so airgun pellet would penetrate, easy.

  • @BigJay604 This is interesting. Thanks.

  • @JapsEye2 There was a case a few years back that someone was shot in the eye and it killed them... dunno if that helps.

  • @TheUltimateToad Ah, this is interesting. Thanks.

  • @JapsEye2 As often said. You learn something new every day.

  • Here in the U.S., you can buy any air gun, if you are over 18 years of age. Younger in some places. There are .22 precharged pneumatic air rifles which are as powerful as a .22 short cartridge. There are .25 guns available which will take down jackrabbits and ground hogs. And, finally, there are .45 and .50 caliber air rifles which will take deer , and have up to 300 fpe.

  • @nezpercenathan You have highlighted the fact about different laws & different attitudes in different countries.

  • nice guy, nice video

  • In the United Kindom , do you need a licence to have a pellet gun? Over here in Canada you need a licence (PAL) if your pellet gun shoots over 500 fps.

  • @ronofontario A little bit different, under 12ftb for rifles & 6ftb for pistols don't need a licence, anything more powerfull you need an FAC.

    My R7 is FAC.

I think a UK sub 12ftb .22 rifle useing middleweight pellets does just over 600fps.

  • @ronofontario i love USA i went to walmart and bought a .177 gun 1200 fps no problemos just be opver 16 muahah

  • @BallerSkier In a case like this I wish I was an american. Stupid Canadian laws eh lol

  • @ronofontario No not yet but I wouldn't be suprised if they change the laws on it.

  • @ronofontario In the UK there is no licence for any rifle of any cal' under 12ftb energy / power regardless of the pellet speed, if It's over 12ftb energy It's then regarded as a firearm & needs the same licence as a powder burner.

  • @ronofontario any kind of spring air rifle over 12ftps then yeh you need a section 1 fire arms but any fink under and as long as your 18 or over your fine

  • @ronofontario, it doesn't make any sense to define the permisible power limit (in Canada) as "500 fps", since power depnds on calibre or weight as well as velocity. Almost certainly, the power permitted is defined in canada, as elsewhere, in energy terms, such as "foot pounds".

  • @psandbergnz nope its FPS.

  • @ronofontario No license needed if it dose not have a muzzel energy of more than 12 ft Lbs (foot Pounds) So it is not based on velocity but the energy put in to the pellet. Otherwise You could make a .50 cal pellet gun at 500 fps and do some real damage. For an air pistol it is an energy limit of 6 foot pounds, over that and it becomes a banned hand gun as we can not have hand guns at all any more in the UK. Higher power air rifles can be owned but come under the Fire Arms License rules.

  • i like the hardness of pbr's but they arent very accurate and they are a bit too light. they should make a pbr pointed lead pellet.

  • @dela213 I havn't used pointed for a very long time then tried some again for these tests.

After testing I've found I still prefer the basic dome shape in general.

  • gunvidder, since you seem to be a bit of an enthusiast, perhaps you would be able to enjoy casting the small objects

right away I was wondering about some sort of hard pointy styled pellet, wondering if that would be able to go through the skull better, since you seem to have a pretty good aim

you could make a couple designs and cast them all at once perhaps

of course, this is all being said without any actual understanding of what it takes to cast stuff... lol

    thinking, hardpoint style pellets

  • @noobler9 I've cast fishing weights & a freind used to cast bullets.

I wouldn't bother with pellets for sub 12ftb but might cast some solids for my FAC air rifle just to try, I havn't a mould at the moment though

  • I have been very impressed with the HN field target pellets with the hole punching edge. You can cast your own pellets with vulcanizing jewellry mold rubber and a brass lathed master just slightly like 2% over size for rubber shrinkage. Springers are only good if you can cast your own ammo in the bush , co2 is not an option for distances awat from stores.

  • @441rider I had thought about makeing my own but there's such a choice in the shops & casting such a small object is time consumeing.

  • @441rider I use H&N F.T

  • main problem with testing it like this is that it would probably not do this if you shot a bird or skwirrel. it would probably just go straight through and not expand or deform.

  • @natofyelsew Your probably right with a bird but Squirrels have tough skin.

  • u should really tell us wat kinda pellets those are too, .177 or .22

  • @bulldog4343454546 177 I guess there might be a slight difference between 177 & 22 but not much.

    Worth considering though.

  • copper plated or copper intirely i prefer.. little bit less weight and stronger.

  • best advice to give is what you said test different pellets, air rifles are very pellet sensitive so what works great and accurate in one model of air rifle will be horrible in another

  • "Logan's Penetrator" looks like a penis at 1:34

  • @lockheed22 That's the first thing I though as well.

Glad I'm not the only one.

  • @gunvidder those are made of led?

  • @alabala327 Yes, made of lead.

    Except the Logun Penetrators.

  • check my video on shooting into glycerin soap for testing.

  • @1942nuclear Will do.

  • alright gunvidder great vid on the bullet penertration test just want 2 say am u local u sound like your from birmingham / blackcountry.

  • @adamwba4life About 18 miles from your front door.

  • Great comparison. Thanks for posting.

  • @MrSpinteractive Just thinking of others to do now.

I've also got a few different pellets to try as well.

  • Another good Video Darrall Weldone

  • Thanks TR.

Tose pig skin gloves are tough.
