Three night stand in Chicago,April,1995.They played this on Thursday, and {of course} I saw them on Friday when their only cover was Summer in the city{Lovin Spoonful}.Just wonder what they did on Saturday.I had to eat an extra ticket because the girl I worked with had never heard of them and didn't want to go.5 guys jammed onto this tiny stage.
i agree that justin and the band never got the recognition they deserved. on the other hand, i feel that anyone who listens to justin's work now loves it in the true sense of the word, surely this is much better
I'm with you on this Melissa!! One of the best gigs I'd seen of the Dels and seen tons. I've never forgotten them doing this song...and what about when they did 'Crazy Horses' one time!!! I still love JC to death amd see him whenever I can but oh, I miss these days! Long live Del Amitri xx
I saw them do this on this tour. Brilliant band live and one of the best gigs I've ever been to, and I've been to a fair few in my time. They should have been HUGE and I think it's a crime that they weren't. Justin is so under-rated as a singer and a songwriter and he's just amazing at both.
It was a surprise to see this but i´ve heard it on the special double edition of the Hatful of Rain best of. CLassic song choice! Long live the Dels!!!!
This was, to say the least, unexpected! I had to ask myself if I liked this or not. But then, it's Del Amitri, it's "Ace of Spades" - what's not to like?
not a one off. to my knowledge, the dels added this song as a setlist option when iain looked more and more like lemmy from motorhead; i saw them do it the first time on the "twisted" tour, i believe; was always semi-amusing. and as for their current status, justin is now recording and performing solo and the dels are defunct, at least for the time being. his release, "what is love for", is quite excellent. check it out.
They do this amazing live saw them in Leeds doing this .I also saw them in Manchester and they did the Osmonds 'Crazy Horses' also amazing they were a great live Band are they still functioning.
Probably one of the weirdest finds I've stumbled across on youtube so far. Del Amitri? Ace of Spades? I am a fan of both (we must be a minority) so this was a blast.
This rocks! I'm a fan of Motorhead and Del Amitri so this was a nice suprise. Was this just a one-off performance for a laugh or did they do Ace of Spades more frequently? And what was with the request board at the start? Thanks for the posting.
Looks like The Barrowlands to me

LOL I always thought Iain Harvie looked like he was in Motorhead, esp when he had the big 'stache.

I was in Leeds too, fras1er.
Everyone that heard them agree that they were awsome, so what went wrong? Did they shun the limelight?
Thanks for posting.
