  • what is the type of this music?i want to listen more.

  • I've got to say that all this guys song's sound the same.

  • Beautiful!! You are amazing man, Ronnie! I'm from Vietnam and I love your music!

  • Awesome, Ronnie!!!

  • The next time my guitar player says he can't continue practice because he broke a string and doesn't have a spare I'm going to punch him in the face.

  • only 5 strings and sounds okay lol, STOP ACTA

  • Bob Dylan!!!!!!

  • @pianovette3 Black Bob Dylan

  • have you noticed that the guitar only have 5 strings in all his videos?

  • weird lookin barre chords!

  • Why is he holding his guitar that way !?

  • @ThatNutGuy who gives a fuck u dick

  • @AlexStenka yea, nvm, your too retarded to get it.

  • @ThatNutGuy Because he wants ^^

  • @Eledin91 I only said that because he usually doesn't hold it that way.

  • Damn ... There's not even 6 string on that guitar and it sounds that awesome .. Way to go !!

  • Please...Ronnie is a DUDE (..and will kick your ass if you call him a girl..) a doo-rag does not a lady make. The tuning is awesome-Low F 1/2 step up from normal E skip th A then the D up to F, the G up to F B up to C and skip the 6 th string so in tight nomenclature FxFACx if you want to keep 6 strings it's FAFACF...play all you want you still won't be Ronnie

  • @SSGreyAndi OOPS! G string is DOWN to F..sorry

  • JAMMIN! : )

  • this is so real!!! I love it :')

  • Where is the A string?

  • Robert Johnson stand aside! This real music from a real musician is so uplifting. If it isn't out on CD there's no justice in the world.

  • @Ferdybroom WOAHHH!!! .....''Robert Johnson stand aside! This real music from a real musician''' ....... Thats a bold statment, that i don't believe any man, mortal or divine, has the power state... the non Robert Johnson related part however...

  • @JustChillYeah well yes, maybe I was a bit over the top! But let's wait see where this guy's talent takes him, at the moment it's all a bit 'samey', but then that's what people would say about Robert Johnson until they get into it. And there's something refreshing about both of them, something that startles you and comes from deep down, even though lots of other musicians are roughly in the same territory and are probably technically better and with much better kit. Anyway, Cheers mate!

  • I love black voices! It's someting...awesome!! can't explain!

  • It's dude, lol. You got great skill Ronnie!

  • Ive been sayin she but I was incorrect. my apologizes. He is really talented though.

  • Ur jealous and upset at the fact its and african women doing something better then u will ever be able in life, ur upset and wanna talk mess. GET A LIFE! Or do us all a favor by taking a flying leap off of a bridge. We have enough racist purebred fucks here and dont need more.

  • To all the ignorant comments get a life. There is no right way and no wrong way! It dont matter how many strings she has on her guitar, I dont care if its 2. Something beautiful came from it. There is more then one way to skin a cat. And if any of u were REAL musicians you'd know that u dont always need all ur strings. Focus on what the purpose of this video is(which is music and skill), or dont watch and comment if it is all like that. Its sad ur watching it and most likey loving it but because

  • Thank God for Africa.

  • Get this woman a record deal!

  • @JackyRowe this MAN!

  • 4 strings on a cheap shit chinese guitar... so fresh... thank the lords for botswana.

  • This music is about the fucking human spirit. Not how "well" she plays, how many strings her guitar has, or what her gender is.

  • Is there only five strings?

  • I would love to know how to contact this person so I could donate some new guitar strings. He is a wonderful player, and in a place with so much strife, he shares his joy. From a guitar teacher.

  • ..and thats when he is missing a string. Freakin awesome!! His playing is better than his singing though.

  • @littledaemon dude i think its a chick ?

  • She plays guitar better than most people I know. Shows that you don't need fancy equipment or even all the strings to play. Real talent right there.

  • @Babyjoker1331lol... it's a man,his name is Ronnie ...i saw some of his others & he's good.../

  • what is a giggimax comment ? Peeps the guitar is stringed that way coz it makes it easier to do this style of play,, bloomin brilliant I say :-)

  • Bravo

  • missing the 5th string, I want to buy this guy a guitar.

  • @RcUniverseGuy Blues chord changes and they opened the acoustic guitar to a whole new world

  • how does this remind you of robert johnson? give me a break

  • seems to have the same fingers as Robert Johnson

  • Reminds me of Robert Johnson :)

  • thanks for this music straight from the heart.

  • Real music coming from real people sounds so much better than all the artificial X-Factor spew and the vile pitch-corrector.

  • @sruss99 ...god damn and fuck whoever introduced that thing...may he chocke on a million cocks

  • Ezek húr nélkül is játszanak,sőt húrgép sem kell nekik.

  • and now the search for giggimax comment starts

  • she misses a string

  • 言葉はわからないけど惹きつけられるものがある

    弦が足りないのがまた何とも言えない・・・

  • That's the real "one-man" band!

  • the man is bringing stories about some of the social welfare of people in developing, and by the way Ronnie is from Botswana in a district known as Kweneng-roughly 25 km north of the capital city Gaborone.

  • This is a WOMAN.!! wtf are people thinking?? a man? come on. you must pick up transvestites and not know.

  • @Snoop18719

It's a man. Search youtube for Botswana Ronnie Happy New Year 2011 and you'll see!

  • IS this a man or a woman. People say both. He/She is great.

  • Damn, the open G string is missing on her guitar. What people in the developing countries can accomplish with much less...

  • i think, there is no 5th string .... right?

  • Love this! It's definitely two guitarists though. One playing the high notes in the melody. Obviously a bit camera shy!

  • @throwawayourtele nope 1 guitarist you can see the top 3 strings are the high notes and he plucks the bottom 'e' for the bass notes

  • @throwawayourtele Nope. One guitar.

  • а я думал , что это баба до того как ОНО запело ;D

  • why do the guitars not have the A string?

  • @CiscoNast They only have 5 fingers on each hand in Botswana

  • Sounds to me like two guitars... Btw, you rock, man!!!! U got my thumb up

  • brillant show. cheers The Makem Folk Singer

  • Ronnie is Groovin'!

  • Anyone know what tuning he's using for the guitar?

  • @buzzlikeyear He's missing a peg.

  • I am from Australia and in our country we have an indigenious man called Gurrumul Yunipingu, who is blind and plays his guitar upside down. But he has the most angelic voice. Look him up - Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu

  • Google Botswana+Ronnie and you will find an article stating this:

"“Ronnie Moipolai from Kopong village in the Kweneng district 50 km west of the capitol Gaborone. He is 29 years old and goes around the shebeens selling and playing his songs for 5Pula each"

  • I want big things to happen to this man.

  • @floatingprisonship no homo mann

  • @Davinchemacker homo. <3

  • yes, boy

  • I haven't read all the responses, but has anyone noticed there's only 5 strings on that guitar?

  • О Господи заткните его

  • Such a touchy song Ronnie! Masterfully performed! Bravo!

  • ...sounds great.....reminds me of 'diamonds on the soles of her shoes' by Paul Simon......I notice that he's playing with only 5 strings ...I wonder if that's by design...

  • ...sounds great.....reminds me of 'diamonds on the soles of her shoes' by Paul Simon......I notice that he's playing with only 5 strings ...I wonder if that's by design...

  • He's great!!!! Should be exported! ;) Just in a good sense, ofc!

  • Speechless! thank you!!!

  • ronnie's a MAN people...you can see one of the videos with HIS shirt off..no boobies :)

  • i thought he was a girl until he sang!

  • Already one of my favorite videos

  • I'd love if she gave me a lesson or two

  • @guitarlawyer75 You mean if "HE" gave you a lesson or two.

  • @Black1Ok Yeah!At first I thought he was a woman because of the scarf he's wearing around his head!I only noticed my mistake after I watched his other videos.Anyway, he's amazing and I'd give almost anything for a lesson with him

  • i wonder what tuning the guitar is in?

  • They all appear to share the same guitar, too!

  • How the heck can you play a guitar with a machine head missing??

  • @jimincairns He only plays with 5 strings, there are a few other Botswana guitarists that do that as well.

  • People it's a woman...LOL!

  • God puts some of his angels on earth with some gifts lest we forget that life is beautiful, and no matter what situation you're in, see an angel with all this mastery inevitably makes your week be happier. God bless you man of Botswana. Thanks for putting a smile on my face suffered.

  • @ofcbruno

Deus coloca alguns anjos dele na Terra com alguns dons para que não esqueçamos que a Vida é linda, e não importa a situação que você está, ver um anjo com toda essa maestria inevitavelmente faz a sua semana ficar mais feliz. • it will happen..! just looking for a charitable org or carrier to deliver it to Bokete7 ..who will personally hand it over to Ronnie!

I'm very happy i could connect and say Thank YOU for sharing the pure talent!

  • Hello Bokete7,

I have a brand new guitar i can't play because hand position activates carpal tunnel. Wonder if you could take guitar to Ronnie when you go see him again ?

I watch his video repeatedly but my amazement never cease.I want to give back to this this pure unselfish talent.

    Thank you!!

  • @adagio14c If this could happen, it proves that there is justice in the world.

  • @1b2r3u4n5n6i7n8g no it doesnt . its just another esporatic act of human good will , in a shit injust world in wich this beautifull talented woman would need the black suited ocidental dudes to be known ..thats not justice its just hipocrisy most of times , a way to sell injustice. never the less i hope the best of the best for this kind of person...when i saw her first video in youtube my heart exploded in tenderness for this lady...she s a lesson to many of us with her pure devotion to music

  • @neliiinhu He's a bloke, by the way.

  • Comment removed

  • @1b2r3u4n5n6i7n8g bloke? im portuguese soz...does that mean a "man" ? whats the relevance of that to what i said?..

  • @neliiinhu Hate to break it to you but pure devotion to music without any expectation of monetary gain is alive and well all over this world and not just by poor black people in Botswana. And that devotion exists in all genre of music as well as among all economic classes of people. Answer me this, if this person were white instead of black, would everyone here be going ga ga over her "talented" playing? Just curious. As for her music, to me, it's kinda cool but not much more than that.

  • @chuff42028 y.. i have to say that yes..lots of white people and yellow orange green whatever have their place in th music scene over some skill and get their relevance over things like this..the reason i think this lady touches so much is cause of her way..she didnt even pick the guitar how it was suposed..but she picked it time after time and made something quite new..with lots of feeling and clear devotion to it..so she could be pink..it would be the same to me,it is poetic above music itself

  • @neliiinhu Agree on all of your points but one. As a guitar player, I disagree that "she didnt even pick the guitar how it was suposed". It's her, oops, HIS arrangement and he can play it any way he wants to. In fact, that is what appeals to me most about this...the unique rhythm style and pattern. Anway, I'm glad that, at least with us, the color of his skin matters not. It's all in the music. Take care.

  • @chuff42028 y i agree with that...tha he/she/ whatever (heh) can pick the guitar anyway he wants....i was just refering that probably if it wasnt such a self centered ( in the good way) effort to play the guitar and he had lessons in a regular music school probably he would have picked the guitar the traditional way...so its quite poetic... so how it is is just delicious and unique hehe . stay cool :)

  • Very sad song......

    translation :

My friends have gone, they have left me

they have moved on to heaven

(then he starts listing them one by one)

*name* has gone to heaven x4

  • Not a woman. Shut the fuck up.

  • Good Sound! good music

  • I am not sure what my attachment to this is...but it is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard...

hard to say for a rabid music collector

  • its a woman called Ronnie

  • Musical genius right there! Great job, and that language sounds really pretty with your cord progression.

  • Makes me wonder where Paul Simon got his inspiration for "Graceland".

  • @guitardriver9, Paul Simon always admitted that he was doing straight up African music in the time of Graceland. Now, you have bands like Vampire weekend that are also doing African music but they bring some punk into it, and other influences, but is mainly African.

  • beautiful!!!

  • @DjembeSauce Without guys like this back in the old days, Yngwie would have no idea what soul is.

  • @picure You think Yngwie knows what soul is?

  • Gah These videos should be featured!

  • Ronnie is the man! Best wishes from Poland! :)

  • seus vídeos são ótimos!

    your videos are great!

  • does anyone know what language this is in?

  • He sings in the official language of Botswana called "Setswana"

  • @Bokete7 Man, promote Ronnie abroad. I think he can get more recognition there. A man like him deserves better.

  • @giggimax Every human being deserve better! :)

  • @PCigrach You are right. But I say this because its sad to see the reaction of many local people towards musicians like him. They merely watch the man play, then laugh and shake their heads before walking away. This without sparing a thought that such talent must enable the manto earn a decent income. So musicians like him come and are generally just taken for granted.

  • @giggimax This is woman, dude)

  • @Bokete7 You're theman, eho are you? Who are they? you should add more info in your vids, this is sickly anonymous

  • @Bokete7 I'm afraid SHE is a woman, not HE

  • @Oliveirex1 Good try bud but he's a man.

  • @Oliveirex1 lol guys chilax, ronnie is a MAN,, seriously... women dont dress like that in botswana,, they wear traditional dresses n skirts n stuff, he is a man,.... n while watching this vid did any of u actuly pause and look at his reeeaaallly FLAT chest?? lmao rme

  • @Bokete7 Waite a minute,Waite a minute.....You mean to tell us that's a guy? I thought that was a woman.

  • @Bokete7 He? i thought he was a woman by his face hehe :P cant wait... i am going Africa soon

  • @uterusultimus , and the song is a sad one coz he is saying that, "My friends are gone, gone to the ancestors" I understand it to mean that they (friends) are dead!
