I think that is a great question. To the framers, the power to pardon was necessary because the way the law was applied. In England, it was common for minor offenses to carry a sentence of death, with pardon by the King being the only way to avoid the punishment. Judges often applied a death sentence, having no choice. This is what Hamilton referred to when he mentioned "necessary severity" and "unfortunate guilt." However, I think in today's society pardons are abused, particularly w/ Clinton.
Good questions - whether or not they need the pardon power is a subject of debate. I suppose it is good to have if used ethically, but that is just my opinion. Nixon is probably the most famous pardon by Ford. With Clinton he pardoned about 140 people including his half brother, who was in jail for cocaine distribution. His pardons raised a lot of concerns at the time. If you Google the topic you will find specifics.

I hold to a minority position that it is wrong to have work place affairs between people in different levels in the chain of command. Not because the people involved may be victimized but because everyone else gets victimized. Co-workers get victimized because they may lose out on a promotion. Shareholders (or taxpayers) lose out because it detracts from the work. It messes up morale within the organization.

I think that is a great question. To the framers, the power to pardon was necessary because the way the law was applied. In England, it was common for minor offenses to carry a sentence of death, with pardon by the King being the only way to avoid the punishment. Judges often applied a death sentence, having no choice. This is what Hamilton referred to when he mentioned "necessary severity" and "unfortunate guilt." However, I think in today's society pardons are abused, particularly w/ Clinton.

Good questions - whether or not they need the pardon power is a subject of debate. I suppose it is good to have if used ethically, but that is just my opinion. Nixon is probably the most famous pardon by Ford. With Clinton he pardoned about 140 people including his half brother, who was in jail for cocaine distribution. His pardons raised a lot of concerns at the time. If you Google the topic you will find specifics.

Bush should not be held accountable for everyone in his administration re. the Clinton investigations. I believe that Bush himself never slammed Clinton after 2000(unlike Obama v Bush). Unfortunately, the main Clinton crimes, the war on Serbia without Congressional approval, went uninvestigated.
I am in favor of the torture investigation-there is ambiguity in the law. Alan Dershowitz has written about the legality of torture. International law is lax on the handling of stateless fighters.

It would seem obvious that when a boss asks for sex from a subordinate, or vice versa, there is a problem. Clearly there are hiddened fears, perceived subtle threat perhaps, and hopes involved. This is not freely given "love". Clinton could have had anyone, why go after an intern at work?

I actually don't care much about whether or not Monica was the victim or not. I hold to a minority position that it is wrong to have work place affairs between people in different levels in the chain of command. Not because the people involved may be victimized but because everyone else gets victimized. Co-workers get victimized because they may lose out on a promotion. Shareholders (or taxpayers) lose out because it detracts from the work. It messes up morale within the organization.

Now, knowing he's our president and that wanting him to fail means wanting us to fail, he actually continued by saying "I hope his stimulus package actually prolongs the recession!" I am a Republican. I voted for the only real conservative who ran in the primaries: Ron Paul. Voted for McCain in 2000, but was hopeful when Bush was elected b/c he ran on a platform of non-interventionism, smaller gov't, fiscal responsibility, etc. He did the exact opposite and you pretend he didn't.
