I remember a similar thing happening to me when trying to 1cc EoSD Normal with Marisa B. I don't really know why I got mad; at least she wasn't exploding at the time. But I died with bombs remaining and ended up with my face on the screen - I didn't slam my head into it or anything, I just...rested it there in despair xD But then I was holding the screen with my hands and pressing my forehead into it going "No, no, nonononono..." and then I heard a crack and went "Oh shit....."

Then, some failed attempts later, I finally managed to 50cc the game as I used up a bomb to prevent the sucker punch from ruining my, uh, dreams. A large portrait of Kanako peeked over from the bottom right corner to turn its gaze at me with glee and the game indirectly hinted that I might have hypocalcaemia. And I finally knew that I sucked. And that I needed to get back to my easy, cozy and familiar Imperishable Night.

This is how the cool story of my short encounter with MoF ends.

Happened to me as well. Today I picked up MoF for the first time. I just wanted to unlock the bad ending for starters so I continued 30+ times on Stage 6 normal. Eventually, I found myself on Mountain of Faith: The Spell Card (R), spewing swear words because of the sole length of Kanako's health bar and the timer. After some minutes I finally dispelled the spell card...

Then a fucking amulet struck me.

As the bullet connected with the hitbox, so did the hand connect with the forehead.

It was unfair, but why the hell did you stand still? There ware obviously gaps in the cyan amulets you could have fit through. Most of the Lunatic runs exploit the gaps by sometimes not running away, but going through the waves. At the end, you sort of just stood still.

The bullets don't disappear until the boss has finished blowing up (which only lasts about a second).

When I was finishing Q.E.D. even though Flandre was already dying, I was hit.

I didn't mean that she ever completely died, but it was still very disappointing :(

But ~there is~ mercy invulnerability pre-mountain of faith after a boss dies, which was what I was referring to. I might need to confirm this again, or at least check the exact time at which this mercy invulnerability kicks in. It might only take effect after they completely explode and the bullets are being erased from outward wave (what happened in this video - the dying after the boss scenario).

Anyways, I feel for your situation all the same.

Ack, this exact same thing happened to me, except on Easy. I sucked on this spellcard, constantly dying and bombing my heart out, and even using the MarisaB bug! Then it happened. I had next to no dignity left, thanks to the previously mentioned and didn't even think of continuing. So I stopped playing this and went to Imperishable Night.

@krawky398 Late reply, but it's worth noting that Mountain of Faith (the final spellcard, not the game itself) is HARDER on easy mode than it is on normal. The game itself is much easier, but playing on easy mode made that last part of the game even tougher on you.

This is what exactly happend to me when I was playing IN extra. The second I captured the last spell, I was like "Yes! I beat it!" than some random bullet hits me and I was to caught up in the moment to do last spell bomb. Yea, it's ever more embarrasing when this happens to you on any extra stage.

I had a similar moment when I was fighting Mokou in Imperishable Night. It was the first time I got past her Fujiyama Volcano spell, and I somehow managed to outlast her survival spell card. I was out of lives and bombs when I got to Hourai Doll, and just when she started to make that noise when you almost complete a spellcard, I got pwn't. Though you get points for dying after you killed the boss That's gotta bite :(

pros- soundtrack definitely, new theme overall in terms of attack patterns and spell cards

cons- STUPID BOMB SYSTEM- having the bomb usage affect power, and having the bombs suck also. GRAZE DOESNT COUNT FOR POINTS ANYMORE!!!

also, no spell practice like in 8... that one really hurts here

Yeah, I find IN to be the hardest one as well, with Kaguya and Reisen being the nastiest Stage 5 and 6 bosses on Normal and up (IN easy is extremely easy). PCB gives you plenty of extends, Border abuse, Sakuya, etc. while EoSD's boss lifebars aren't as long, making it easier to capture spellcards all the way up through Remilia.

MoF... isn't so bad on Normal until Kanako's last spellcard, where it all comes down to whether you're in a mood to concentrate or not.
