I'm curious, how did this museum score a SR-71 Blackbird? Isn't this the only Blackbird displayed outside the US. They have one at Warner Robins AFB in GA not too far from where I live. Otherworldly to say the least.
Just remembered something. Some toy company actually reproduced plastic scale replicas of the Blackbird before she was officialy released to the public. A family friend got one for his nephew because 'it looked really neat and futuristic'
He thinks it was Matchbox but since that was 30-40 something years ago
Eh, I'll stick with the Blackbird. At leats it made it past the prototype stage (Y in designation generally= prototype craft)
Actually I once speculated in a debate about the possibility of an internal weapons bay on the SR-71....we figure the speed would rip 'em off....so for a fictional recc/strike varient it had to drop down the subsonic to release ordinance.
the video is fine and dandy and all but the cia never got/used the sr-71 (thay used the older versons when that did have them and even then thay we're all USAF pilots)
Although the M-21 a varant of the Sr-71 used to carry a drone for the CIA. I heard a rumor they did test with some weapons but later concluded it was impossible due to the speeds. Boeing Aerospace museum has one of the last M-21's.
Truly an amazing aircraft! If that aircraft came out today for the first time, people would say that it's such a futuristic aircraft. Yet, it is over 40 years old!
Hey bestamerica! Can you try typing and speaking like a normal human being? The way you type is embarrassing, especially to America. It's people like you that make America look retarded to every nation.
In Los Alamos, New Mexico there is a surplus megastore called The Black Hole. Every imaginable item surplused from scientific projects from Los Alamos National Laboratories is up for sale there. In the front yard there was a casing for a missile. As I banged the tip of the missile with my hand, I asked the proprietor "hey, can I hump your bomb?"

they should of kept it a secret. Now smart people are gonna realize that they have more top secret aircraft flying around at twice the speed of this.

The U.S. owns this plane, not the U.K.

I can't take 4 minutes of this.....I. Want. One.
Cruising at Mach 3 (speculation of even faster but I doubt that), higher than any other airbreathing plane. Yep.
Now if only it could be armed....

Then you should go shopping for a YF-12 :)
Hope you have a platinum club card!

Yes, but what I meant though as it's design was instigated by the CIA. Withiut them, it would never have been built.
lightning1975 4 years ago
your right, but the USAF totaly ran the aircraft ;)

I wouldn't worry too much about him. Mental retardation is universal. Every country on Earth has their fair share of retards.
I would like to hump the fuselage of that airpane. In private.
