  • Theres a man over at the studio that will pay ya two dollars to sing in a can.

  • Great job!!! :)

  • Johnny if I ever create a line of guitars, you will be the face of the company. Can't let REAL talent like this go unnoticed.

  • Chet Atkins would be very proud!

  • WOW!!!

  • Based on the likes and dislikes, apparently there are two guitarists out there somewhere who lost session gigs to Johnny.

You could only dislike this guitaring if your brain was installed upside down.

  • this makes me want to say fuk it and quit playing. Damn it Johnny y do u have to beeee sooo good

  • i want to know who is papa in the reflection in the glass at 4:05...woof.

  • Unbelievable.... Johnny is simply amazing... from 3:11 3:40 is pure geniality and taste ! Master !

  • damn

  • killer chops, feel and groove (and ideas!) minty!

  • I just entered the @sweetwatersound $7,400 Pro Tools Songwriter's Studio Giveaway!

  • Just stumbled across this guy on youtube , he's amazing, why isn't he world famous.

  • There's definitely some Jimmy Bryant in there.

  • this guy always makes me wanna rob a bank and get in a car chase.

  • i hate this guy cause he's so good

  • my goodness, the solo with the paul reed blew my mind

  • what a total champion..

  • How does he do that?? It's not fair.

  • you are very talented! well done! you deserve more views on this!

  • GOOD GOD!!!! I'd need AT LEAST 12 more fingers to play that good!!!

  • Is that a Wechter acoustic Johnny is playing? I can't get over how Johnny is in awe of the sound of this particular guitar when it's his playing that's great. He could make a toy guitar sound amazing. He's made his mark like all the greats. His solo from 4:06 is absolutely mind blowing.

  • @smokinbluzvalv - yes, it's the Wechter NV-5413CE nashville tuned guitar.

  • @dayingyang0 Thanx 4 the info. I've never known of a Nashville tuning until now. Lookt it up and was amazed at the string gauges and tuning... no longer a virgin. Long live Johnny.

  • Wow.. Great!

    Marcelo

  • i think that acoustic is tuned up "nashville" style. i'm not exactly sure how it is done, my dad does it sometimes. but i think it involves putting some electric strings on an acoustic..

  • @gratefullybred - nashville tuning is where the lower strings are replaced with the high strings from a 12 string set while the top two strings (E and B) are left the same. What is special about the Wechter guitar you see here is that is specifically built for nashville tuning.

  • How do you spell "virtuoso", again?

  • FANTASTIC

  • I'd settle for half his tallent.

  • Dammmnnnnnnn! 4:09 to 4:34 freaks me out man!!!!! I luv this guy....

  • dude. i was going to get that exact paul reed smith.

  • lol. He probably doesn't need that compression. It sounds way too good. Hes just too good.

  • I Had the rare opportunity to jam side by side with Mr johnny Hiland and I'll have you know....I felt like all the licks,The knowledge, The practice time that I had accumulated over my lifetime was a waste, lol. He is a diamond in the rough.

  • Chops, man!

  • man anyone else here own a wechter nashville? was wondering, other than this, well this demo just sold me on one, but what does the non-cutaway sound like? and does it have a preamp in it aswell?

  • brad paisley couldnt hold a candle to this stuff. johnny is such a rare talent, merle travis chet atikins les paul left a great impact on this cat.....

  • He's just unbelivable! The most amazing thing for me is the size of his phrasing, they just never end

  • Reminds me of Les Paul. I don't know why, but he does.

  • Comment removed

  • Blind or not he is hot. The best I know.

Show us some bloopers, does he have any?

He is so perfect. Absolutely amazing.

  • Jhonny Hilland ! This guy Just plugs And play .. no tweeking no nothing. he is the BEST country Checken Bluegrass Player.. He plays Anything !! Perfect

  • Johnny is not totally blind, but he is vision impared. He also can play the living crap out of a guitar. PRS has introduced a Johnny Hiland model in his honor.

    Ron

  • Funny to see a blind man take a look at a guitar :-)

    He is great though

  • He is Legally blind, but has vision. Some research required?

Dig this fella, kind of man that would be a blast to sit around a fire with indeed.

  • I think my ears can reach in and hear past the 'web sound' ........and it sounds damn amazing! ......Johnny is the master!

  • I've seen that guy with the dark hair before... I think he was in a band I saw called Raising Daybreak

  • Johnny's playing is about as good as it gets, but I'm sorry big guy...I've heard tin pans with more tone than that acoustic guitar. Any well made instrument can be set up to play like lightning (I know...I've been building and repairing for over 30 years), but you can't add tone!

  • now, you do realize that the sound is being picked up by nothing other than a camera mic, then edited and processed and compressed on a computer, then compressed through youtube before you even hear anything, so its not the true tone.

  • You're right it sounds high and tinny. That's because it's in NASHVILLE TUNING! ; )

  • It's set up as High String for what I can tell

  • @andymica youre right these models from wechter are tuned higher at the bottom 4 strings..(The the bottom E,A,D and G) They are an Octave higher than on normal six strings

  • @thonicco Not sure about the tuning but what I meant was using the small strings of a 12 string on a 6 string makes it High String guitar.

  • I agree with you, no tone...no bottom.

  • speechless

  • 1:15's pretty tasty. Guy's almost like country's SRV. Just continuous good ideas and so clean.

  • thanks so much for posting. Johnny is so great! I can learn so much from this video.

  • Johnny is the man!!

  • Yikes

  • wow.

  • lol!

  • Beautifull man just awesome!!!!

  • The Humbler II.

  • johnny is so smooth..... like butah

  • So smooth!. OK..I give up!!

To me it sounds like a Les Paul joins Chet Atkins in a jam where they invited Jerry Reed, and Roy Clark wandered over to join in. Fantasitic pickin'

  • lol I love how the PRS still has the tag on it:P Keep up the good work, Johnny! You too, Sweetwater:D
