Rather, I'd like a bridge between Earthbound and M3. Earthbound ended with a huge cliffhanger, which wasn't really resolved in M3 as it was in a completely different place and time. A continuation of Ness' story, what happened to Porky after Giygas was killed and how he got so much power, and how the world was almost destroyed (mentioned in M3).
So perhaps not a M4, but that doesn't mean there won't be another game in the series.

People want a MOTHER 4 simply because they want a sequel, no good reason at all. Even if it was made, it likely wouldn't be released outside of Japan.
Though the series supposedly ended in Mother 3, Giygas and Porky may not be the only evils in the Mother world. And this interview was actually cut off before Itoi stated that he hadn't dismissed the idea of Mother 4. Maybe he's just waiting for the right time to start. Who knows, we may just see it on the Wii U or the 3DS. Mother fans can only hope. As for me, I like the idea of making the transition of the 2D gameplay to 3D gameplay. Nintendo is more experienced with 3D then ever before.
But Itoi, Porky still lives! He needs to be punished after what he's done to Lucas. Mother 4 needs to be made and he has to be the final boss! You can't leave us on such a cliffhanger!

I'd love a remake of mother 1 and 3 (the ones we never got) for the 3DS. Or better yet, a remake and release an updated version of Earthbound 64, since that game was virtually complete (Mother 3 is proof of that).
I completely understand why everyone wants A Mother 4. I respect that. I personally think Mother 3 had the perfect way to end the series. In the end all evil was gone. Giygas was gone. @ZeratheWolf Personally, I think the way Mother 2 originally ended things was better. I know a sequel was implied with Porky's message in the end, but the way it was, for me, was better than the path taken by Mother 3. Mother 2 had a very happy, chirpy ending, while Mother 3's was sad (but well-done) and then a bit mysterious.
@ZeratheWolf Porky was not gone. He was in the Super Safe Capsule. If what they said was true about it, Porky should still be somewhere even after the ending happened.
Someday there may be a continuation. Some other development team could pick the franchise back up, like what Retro Studios did with Metroid. It wouldn't be exactly the same, sure, but they did a great job adding new things while keeping the same feel of the previous games. There's not a doubt in my mind that there will be more Mother games, eventually.

Why not make a Mother 4 about how some enemy causes the Sun to be appearing, being able to create creatures from shadows that are taking people to the shadow world.
This is all made by an enemy called the Shadow Queen or some shit like that.
Oh and the main character looses most of his valuable friends and has to save them.
Well, he never said no to the possibility of a Mother 0. A prequel about Maria, George and the origins of Giegue/Giygas would be pretty sweet.

Instead of demanding a new game, you should be praising him for the 3 you already have. He can do what ever he wants. My God, this fan base can be really annoying sometimes. This just means Mother is bowing out on a high note. I'd much rather there be three extremely high quality games and no more than for the series to take the Final Fantasy/Mana route and make dozens of shitty sequel/spinoffs. It's the same reason I'm fine with only two Chrono games.

Personally from my experience in making fan games. He just completed Mother 3. To be asked if there will be another one. Its exhasting to make a full RPG as I have done. Once your done. You have been gamed out. Give him time once he feels like hes relaxed he might come around. You never know.

I know Starmen said that EarthBound/Mother 2/EarthBound 2 wasn't coming here and cited word from an unnamed source, but until I hear something from someone OFFICIAL and not, sorry to say, just a fan site, I'm holding out hope.
Not to say there is anything wrong with fan sites. Fan sites are fun! ...just not an official source.

Why not make a Mother 4 about how some enemy causes the Sun to be appearing, being able to create creatures from shadows that are taking people to the shadow world.
This is all made by an enemy called the Shadow Queen or some shit like that.
Oh and the main character looses most of his valuable friends and has to save them.
