other interesting thing is the emphasis, he puts in denying judo as the predecessor of bjj, The son killing his father, bjj neglecting judo, there must be some freudian concept to name that, anyway even in recent times bjj took inspiration in judo; where is the triangle and "ezequiel" choke in that old vid showin helio, carlos, mehdi...? why is it that so many of the best at bjj have trained judo; minotauro, werdun, sperry even rickson. BJJ owes to much to judo but dont wanna give the credit!!
Just two corrections. Maeda was NEVER expelled from the kodokan (they were on a tour scheduled by the kodokan itself and there were other who also had to demonstrate his skills by fighting at the request of any of the hosts, he even got promoted to seventh dan in his last days of life)
Maeda´s roots were judo, right from the begining till the end the only thing he practiced and taught was judo.
Another instance of this video... Renzo is simply wrong as Maeda never left the Kodokan... But this is the story he was told by his father, grandfather, etc. Hard to get your facts historically right if you base it on first-person mouth-to-mouth evidence! I would advice Renzo (and all Gracies) to research a little more on the origins of this great martial art they developed!!!
