  • Wow, some people are absurd. This interpretation is not even very idiosyncratic. It is pretty similar to the "standard" way of playing this piece. I guess people just assume that Gould is butchering Mozart because they have read about his "dislike" of Mozart. In reality, Gould is playing a great interpretation of this piece. It's a shame that there are so many fallacies about Gould today. He didn't hate Beethoven, he didn't hate all Mozart, and he didn't change sharps/flats in the Goldbergs.

  • mozart would be proud of this interpretation

  • Finally someone brought Mozart's music alive!

  • Please is there any other video where we can see him on Mozart ?

    other sonata ?

  • For me it the greatest interpretation of Mozart... I feel like Mozart is playing himself !

  • Watching these videos, it's very hard to believe that Gould didn't care for Mozart.

  • @lamazopa21

He didn't like him, so he played Mozart a way different version than the composer wanted his pieces to be played.

  • @kubekbeta5 Gould did like Mozart, just not late-Mozart when he became more "superficially theatrical". He did enjoy the "actual playing" of Mozart- the tactile sensation of it. Glenn Gould always strived to follow the composer's intentions actually.

  • Beautiful!
