The first five tracks on Replicants (obelisk, cosmonaut, easy now, on on, replicants) are the coolest, smoothest chilwave ish to come out for 2011 (better than toro y moi's new stuff). They take me back to 83-84 and all the cheesy, but catchy post-duran duran techno pop of the era. But then after tokyo 3, Mike Diaz just wanked off trying to make "epic" songs that only expose that he can't really sing and that chillwave has its limitations. Should have at ep'd it. Cosmonaut is freekin dope.
everyone seems to like Calrissian the most on this album, but I'd have to say Cosmonaut is the most affecting for me. It's a beautiful world of sound, and lives up to the album's title as I clearly picture a place like Blade Runner.
