I don't think it's too neurotic. I keep both one shirt and one pair of pants that don't fit me in my closet at all times, just to try on every couple of weeks. I don't keep *everything* that doesn't fit in there though. Partly because it would be a waste of space, partly because I'd given up awhile back and gave quite a bit away, and partly because I intend to (and am budgeting for) purchase new, fresh stuff when I'm down to wearing clothes with size tags lacking an X in front of them. :)
