I always imagine Art Noveau romms and buildings when i hear Granados music. So beautiful.. It's a shame, that he is rather unkown on the classical field :(
Your main English problem is picked up from highly ignorant folk who call all music a `Song´ simply because itunes does that. The word `Piece´does well for most Piano music if you don´t want to specify Sonata, Etude, Dance or whatever.
No one can replace her. She gave the world so much, including this magnificent treasury of Spanish piano music, played with an understanding and flair that will never be equalled.
Thank you for sharing Peter. This music is beautiful, I would only change the picture to a moutain with ice because I think this piece has more cold and sad atmosphere.
I love this piece, and almost nobody gets inside of this music as well as Alicia de Larrocha. Jose Iturbi made a memorable recording of this piece back in the early 50s; I wish there were many more Iturbi recordings on YouTube.
The definitive Granados. I still remember her performance of the Spanish Dances complete in NY in April 1976...a memorable recital which also included short pieces by Brahms from Opp. 116 and 118, and some Liszt. Everything played with impeccable taste and matchless beauty
Love Alicia de Larrocha, and love Granados. Such beauty, such sensitivity, and she does it with so little pedaling! I love the contrasts with the different sections, too. So amazing to listen to her!
