rcbfp is right, and you are partly right too.. Captains are generally very old by human standards and very skilled in all ways of combat - sword, demon arts, tactics... But it's also their powerlevel; A captain class casting even a basic attack like the one Rukia tossed around all the time in the first Karakura arc, is way more destructive because of the sheer amount of spirit power it unleashes compared to a normal rank and file shinigami.

i hope someone read this. just for infor... kidou with incanation actually gives the spell itself its 100% power.. so no matter who does it.. as long as that person says the whole incanation, the spell will be at full power. and of course u nid enough reiatsu to do it. and, if a person does a hado or a bakudo without an incanation, its power will depending on the user's skill, and reiatsu.

byakurai is lvl 4 mate. And yes point blanks are powerful but the power also comes from the guys reiatsu. Even though it's a minor art, the power HE channels through it can make it pretty powerful. Destructive arts are in general extremely powerful though :P

By mastering Kidou, you can use weaker versions of the spells without incantations, hence how Aizen used Kirohitsugi without an incantation. Using the incantation, also as Aizen said, can double, triple, or produce even greater power than that from a Bakudo/Hado. Higher level users like Rukia can even use double incantations, where you intertwine two incantations into a single incantation.
