  • Not perfect and never said so. We are watched by passengers, the city, other airlines. A lot more people than a flight attendant is. Yes passengers can and do complain about things they see us do. So pardon me if I cannot sympathize. I have worked both the ramp and the ticket counter and the gate. Have dealt with hundreds of passengers in one day. Still feel that if u r at work then work. If u don't like your job find one you do like.

  • P.S. I'm a FA and have stood at the aircraft door and said hi to every passenger that came onboard and on a typical flight somewhere between 40 and 60 percent of the passengers looked right at me as I said hello and ignored me and kept walking.

  • I agree that this FA should have been focused on the passengers more than herself so that was worth pointing out but people have to remember that FAs are people too and it's hard to put in a room (airplane) with over a hundred people and be wearing a uniform that singles you out so that everybody watches every move you make. It's easy to be overcritcal when you're just sitting and relaxing while someone is serving a large group.

  • As a flight attendant I always did my best to greet every passenger that boarded. But you know when 70 people go by you and don't even return the greeting (which if I recall is proper etiquette) and you have another 100 passengers to go. you kind of start loosing the motivation.

  • @kelsogray I definitely hear you. That has always baffled me! How can anyone board a plane and not return a hello? Doesn't make sense.

  • I've been flying the A320 for about a year and I always run in to people at the airport on their Blackberry's but the flight attendants paired with us pilots always save the time for socializing at the right time and not when taking care of passengers.

  • Half the time when people greet the passengers they do not even speak back. you pack your luggage you rack it. Flight attendants are not suppose to life your fuckn back. Lady get over yourself. You should have when to sleep. You probably saw her and you new she was coming to serve and did not bother to even look up from your book, for her to ask you if you wanted something to drink or a snack. You expect first class service for your 49 dollar ticket.

  • If you wanted a drink and the flight attendant was standing there, why in the hell didn't you ask for it? You had a bias against the flight attendant. A prejudice, and you made it your purpose to be critical toward her so you could make a report and feel important. People do this all the time. They also create drama, and LIE about it.

Also, you said you wouldn't feel "safe" if an emergency occured because of this flight attendant??? Did you put your magazine down during the safety demo?

  • Wow, this lady expects 5 star service on a low cost airline. Lady, you get what you pay for.

  • Who really cares? I am a flight attendant and ppl complain about the dumbest things, honestly! I bet this woman was sleep that is why she got passed. I def agree with some of the previous post. Yes we are paid to be courteous but who really cares that the fa was talking to a pax, seriously that is ur complaint? You got skipped and didnt even ask for anything, you stared at her? Really.

  • I guess some people are never satisfied get a life lady you are flying on a low cost airline you get what you pay for

  • This lady caller needs to visit a shrink. Sounds to me that the one with issues is HER. If she needed or wanted something, she should have asked instead of trying to evaluate the staff.

I fly AirTran all the time (and Delta) and I usually have very good experiences on AirTran. I like them much better than Delta.

  • My mom is an airtran flight attendent. She is gone for up to 2 and a half weeks at a time. She got this job when i was 8. It was sooo hard to go so long without talking to her or texting her. If she communicates to her family then let her and quite your crying!!! if u dont get greeted then oh no , im soo sorry. My mom takes lots of crap at her job, but she has to try to remain professonal and smile. so sorry about your HORRIBLE trip that was ruined because the flight attendent didnt greet you!

  • @mirross15 i know wat u mean

  • What is the motivation in posting this video???

This video in no way should catagorize any inflight service any passenger should expect on any airline..SUCH FALSE ADVERTISEMENT!!!

Since were talking about Flight Attendants texting on cell phones, lets flip the script a little bit: Passengers, on the cell phone during a safety demonstration.... Now, if at any circumstance we are forced to evacuate, what do you think that person capabilities are at that moment?

  • I asked for a pillow once on a Delta International flight at 5:30 PM and was told to wait a while. The FA said that pillows would come out later in the night. I guess she was busy. When we landed in Brussels nine hours later, I got as far and two steps in the door of a long hall and everything went black. I woke up four days after surgery where the doctors in Brussels had repaired a leaking anesrysm. The pillow didn't help my head when it finally arrived but I haven't flown Delta since then.

  • You know Flight Attendant Service is not what is used to be. However I have to say with US Air their flight attendants are a lot friendlier than the ground staff at Charlotte.

  • In the U.S. it's hard to maintain a sense of professionalism. It doesn't matter what airline it is,FA's are usually undermanned and underpaid. Plus u have to settle with some pax's who are rude and demanding. The U.S. airlines cuts a lot of amenities and food and expect the FA's to just smile to make it alright. It's hard enough to just get in the airplane and then get on a 6 hour flight with just chips and soda. Also it's not always 100% that you get the right person to work as a FA.

  • I should also say that what I said is all about professionalism and not so much etiquette. It's a question of how to be professional.

  • Actually it doesn't matter if passengers need help or not when the flight attendant is texting. The problem there is the flight attendant is on the job and needs to pay attention on the job and so no facebook, no texting, etc. You could see this as etiquette but a much stronger argument is not about etiquette but rather about one's responsibilities and pay attention when on the job.

  • As a Flight Attendant I greet every single person that gets on my airplane. I too have flown on other airlines when the FA's don't bother to greet anyone. As far as this customer goes, she should have just rang the call button. Staring at someone's back gets ypou nothing. Contrary to what some FA"s say it's not just for emergencys.

  • That is a good point. I know passengers just want to bitch and be right but flight attendants are not mind readers, you are provided tools to call for service.

  • LMAO, as a FA...I can say that I text while boarding...I look up and say hello to every other customer or so...it is not very difficult...and if I wasnt texting I would be talking to the caterer, or the pilot, or helping you shove your household items that you refused to check into the overhead bins.

  • If you came to my city and you were working on one of the flights, I would be reporting your unprofessional behavior. You're at work and you're being paid to work no matter how much you get paid and if you don't want to work then quit, it's not the job for you! There's a time and place for everything.

  • @maileilani Ok, so you're perfect at your job and you'd like someone watching every move you made and reporting it to your boss? I think not.

  • Where did you get those awesome airplane seats?

  • my mom works for airtran

  • is she a flightattendant??? i want to become a flightattendant for airtran

  • lol...im 8 yrs old...i went on by myself and i had no problem on airtran going to tampa bay to go to bradenton with my grandparents and going back to tampa and going back to flint and then to canada

  • I would have ignored this lady too, she sounds annoying a fuck.

  • You are cool i suscribed and rated i love avation and once i flew spirit there plane was horrible. less leg space, no tvs, no snacks, unlike jetblue

  • Are you both aware that flight attendants do not get paid when the door is open. Maybe you should think about that?

  • Thanks for your comment, but the nature of the job does require passengers to be greeted.

  • FA's are aware how they are paid when they take the job. This is no excuse. Might I add, if you don't feel like you are paid enough for what is expected of you in your job, then you may need to find a different job.

  • Did the upset passenger report to AirTran all of her complaints? Sounds like the behavior of the Flight Attendant was very inappropriate. Please report this to the company because they investigate every report. Nobody wants to fly with a Flight Attendant like this!

  • You are right about letting them know. Also, the passenger mentioned that the other flight attendants on board were picking up her slack from take off to touchdown.
