thank you for posting this. I had recorded this off NPR radio and still have the old tapes, then I bought the set. Now I'm working on getting my music collection transfered to MP3
you have saved me some work. (just have to download thru realplayer, then convert to MP3)
outside of all that - This adaptation is sooo cool!
I remember this radio series well. Before the days of movies being released onto DVD just six months after they were in theaters, and before a VHS player was in everyone's home, the only way you could "watch" Star Wars at home in 1981 was on NPR. This series aired on NPR from April to July 1981 and is the best radio adaptation of a movie ever. It fills in all the backstory that wasn't in the movie and all of the music and sound design from the original movie is there. Great!
@TomMSTie It's totally the same sound effect. I haven't heard this in maybe twenty years, now I notice stuff I never did before. Like Adam Arkin as the Fixer!
There are pictures from 1977 of actors dressed to play Cammie and The Fixer , meaning these characters were going to be in the movie at one point. I wonder how much of this extra beginning stuff was actually filmed?
@Tulkastaldo They released the deleted scene of Luke rushing to Anchorhead and meeting with Biggs on a CD-ROM called Behind the Magic. It's up on youtube if you look for it.
Who the hell disliked this?

Interesting how much the sound FX for Luke's Skyhopper sounds like a Pod Racer.

Luke humming along with the Star Wars theme was a strange touch. Is that the music that the empire uses to recruit people?
