  • Our lead trumpet player last year in my high school jazz band did it

  • Hitting that triple high C at the very end is no easy feat. :(

  • @SpinalAlloy this is big band & swing... or more simply putting it, the best freakin music on the planet! While it is jazz in some sense, its core genre is swing, but good open you mind and ears to "new" old music, after all the old stuff is the best.

  • @xXH4X3DxCL4WSXx welll technically. with enough practice... i'm talking about "i stay at home and all i do is practice", practice in theory and lots and lots of air they can probably hit a triple c, and it's probably not that great sounding. but in all likely hood no that kid can't hit a triple c

  • YES!! they did it again! Triple c at 7:28 definitely wayne. Theres a kid in my middle school jazz band who can hit triple C!! AAHHH!!! Amazing

  • @ibelongtomysax13 nice lie, theres no way someone in a middle school band could hit a trip c...

  • I like this style of jazz...not the 50's stuff you hear on Tom and Jerry, the newer, underground stuff that nobody gives a flying fuck about...I LOVE this style of jazz, and I'm interested in learning to play jazz drumming, even though I'm also a metal fan (SLAYEEEEEEEEER!!!)

  • i miss playing this song for my jazz band... lol

  • makes you wish you lived in this era

  • @monkeysninja You do live in this era... The Big Phat Band is a modern day jazz group, Wikipedia it.

  • @monkeysninja You do live in this era... The Big Phat Band is a modern day jazz group, Wikipedia it.

  • I think my heart grows 3 sizes every time i hear the saxophone and trombone soli, then it gets to the trumpet soli.....

  • The last note is the highest notei have ever heard

  • @ryanthewhitekid its a written double G, I played third on this song Junior year of high school its an awesome

  • God yeah. Never fails to impress. Wish i could play trumpet like that.

  • @ROBINISDEATH Dude you can, I can, its just hard to think you can do that :P. We are playing this song now, hopefully I reach that level

  • what a song guys...cool!

  • I LOVE that middle horn sax break =)

  • Sal and Eric both have such great, rich, full, clear alto sounds, love um!

  • triple c at 7:28? probably wayne.

  • played this in my middle school jazz band. but we played an easier version. fun song anyway.

  • Just listening to that last trumpet note hurts my lips!

  • played this in my big band! we got through to nationals :) awesome piece, favourite of mine

  • This is one of the most fun songs to play too, wish I had kept my sheet music! Is awesome on trombone

  • Fantastic song!

    But it needs more cowbell...

  • Does anyone know an accurate tempo of this song?

  • @donnatrannadelee 144 quarter notes/minute, if I recall correctly. I sight read this song in my high school jazz band class a couple of weeks ago, plus I'm estimating from the speed of the hi-hat.

  • BPB is revolutionizing the Jazz world as we now know it! Please bring back jazz clubs!

  • played this in marching band this year and it was awesome

  • 9th grade played count bubbas revenge

10th grade played this piece. Got lead trumpet was fun as hell.

Now 11th grade playing count bubbas revenge again.

    I am so excited :D

that and brass machine which ill have lead on.

  • @petergriffon

I played trumpet too, from 4th to 12th grade. Good Luck in your musical career!

  • @petergriffon... brass machine...nice...even though i play tenor sax lol

  • @SaxKing52 Hey man the saxes solo'd better than my section the other day. we were all off pretty bad lol.

  • The BPB is the wave of the future in terms of the new big band sound!!

  • @SteelerY360Nation And I have you to thank for pointing me their way! Perhaps I mentioned my 700 playlists include over 100 genres. Well. one of those is the Big Band Contemporary playlist I just added this to! Amazing that Goodwin not only score, but COMPOSES most of their music. He's gotta be one of the most impressive musicians of the new millenium. How I wish youtube wasn't locked out of our workplace computers (sigh). Thanks again for the heads up on this band, PGH-guy! chuck

  • this is coming from a metal guitarist who thought metal was the only music worth listening to.but after hearing jazz and all of the elements put into it and got to see how it all works jazz changed how i looked at music because it speaks to you and is so expressive.and this song opened that whole new world to me.

  • @MrRhoadsfan95

I know what you mean. Jazz to me is an attitude.Great sound by the BPB

  • @MrRhoadsfan95 I'm in the same boat right now. I've been in jazz band all through high school, but now I'm a senior in high school and finally playing lead trombone, and jazz has become something I love. Now I'm just absolutely fired up for jazz. Metal is literally the only thing I've listened to, but after a jazz festival this year I started listening to Gordon Goodwin, Herbie Hancock, and other great musicians. It's so amazing.

  • my band director just gave us this song today for next year! LOVE IT!

  • WHOA, that last trumpet note on the end, then taking it to the 4th above. unreal

  • That solo makes me proud to be a sax player ; )

  • yo g this song is beast i masturebate to this shit every time i hear it

    a.... 0....... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!

yeh typed this shit one handed

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

  • We took this to the heritage festival in San Diego, and we totally shredded this piece. We got first - gold. :)

This is one of the best charts ever! Love itt!!

  • Epic trombone soli

  • @NJRocker76 i play t bone in jazz band. . .lol my band director just to play with us makes us play it super fast !!!!

  • Wayne is beast!! He just murdered everybody in the studio with the double C at the end! And he can do that all day long to top off his abilities.

  • In our arrangement bari has super high parts like in the bari/tenor(and trombone?) soli part? We haven't really worked on it, so I'm not sure if it's with the trombone too, but it's right before the alto/trumpet soli. In this it doesn't sound like the bari goes that high, but in our arrangement it goes high Bb G C G C# G D G# E Bb and then a little down part and it goes to the high F then D C# C Bb G, but in this it sounds like it's all midrange. WHATS UP?

  • we played this at MTSBOA midstate silver band. it was not as good, but it still kicked @ss

  • @robo199513 I was in that band. Haha.

  • @TrumpetGuy7 who were you?

  • @robo199513 4th chair trumpet. Emmanuel. You?

  • @robo199513 Emmanuel. 4th trumpet.

  • I love how you listen to this and reach the end, you just sit there for a few minutes recovering from the orgasm that was this song.

  • This songs a killer. Im lead- 1st year as lead. I love the song, but dang. My lips die

  • i hit the super c at end!!!!

  • what the heck is that note at the end? lol that's really high

  • Dude yes. We are playing this too. That ^ ^ ^ C on trumpet at the end gives me chills

  • Trumpets in this song are beast

  • What is this business, is every highschool band playing this song? Damn, I though I was special.

I play bass in Jazz II, not quite the same arrangement, but close.

  • @kevinwhite1651 ur band must suck

  • awww yeah...bassbone ftw :DDD

  • @jck1794 yeah baby you hear those pedal F's in sing sang sung?

  • @kevinwhite1651 YEAH GO FISH! i play trombone in my band but im not first

  • im in the second jazz band at my high school and we're playing this exact arrangement (we just got the music today) and im playing lead trumpet. its gonna be sick when we perform this and shock the hell outta jazz 1 and many other people that we are very much capable of playing this

  • Double C at the end, just to top off a smoking chart

  • 7:30=jizz

  • touche kioskia i gotta show either this to my jazz band director or the phat pack. suggestions on which one?

  • were playing this in band

  • @UserNameZachC LUCKY, my higschool played this last year, but i was in 8th grade :(

  • Gordon Goodwin rocks. Period.

  • @thefoosa72 you suck

  • @thefoosa72 than why would you comment on it?

  • @thefoosa72 Thats like walking into victoria's secret and saying that your mom/sister/friend made you come in. You just look like a tool

  • @McToatsers Now I feel bad. dick

  • @thefoosa72 SHAME!!!!!!!

  • @thefoosa72 Same. I'm in jazz band but I hate being forced to listen to it for an essay for the end of the year...

  • Respond to this video... LAST NOTE WTF IS THAT A DOUBLE B FLAT I JUST SHIT MY SELF

  • WOOOWWWWWW!!!!! I never could find this song. Ive always listened to Count Bubbas Revenge and thought it was the greatest song ever. My school jazz band even played it which added to my liking of it... but i must say i like this one sooooooooooooo much better than Count Bubbas Revenge!!!!!

  • whoever the 3 people who disliked this vid are obviously idiots with absolutely no taste or knowledge of music!

  • this is one of the songs we are playing in our marching band this year along with huntin wabbits

  • @MsLilgnome r u in THS?

  • holy crap the last note.....

  • where can i download this? someone help please

  • @animelover3400 itunes, amazon.com

  • @Pakj1234 thank you

  • the best thing in this song is def the little instrumental solis that go on. I love the trumpet soli near the end. I'm lead trumpet in my high school Jazz I and i REALLY wish we could have played this song. Right now we are playing Sing Sang Sung but i think this one and Jazz Police both are better.

  • @bronstain27 im lead alto in jazz band at my school and id love to be playing this, we played count bubbas revenge though and jazz police was our marching show this year. the movements were jazz police, land of makebelieve, and big niose from winnetka.

  • @antaries93 thats awesome! i sure wish our marching shows were themed in that way -- normally we do some movie. But thats great!

  • I played piano to this song in our state's jazz band competition! YEAH! I love the Big Phat Band!

  • awesome.

  • we're gunna play this for the Lakeside Jazz Festival (i'm pretty sure) I love Gordon Goodwin. I'm psyched.

  • @bobthathead3

This lakeside Jazz Fest wouldn't happen to be on Lake George would it?

  • @PosadkaFilms I'm not sure? It's in Port Orange, FL

  • This Lakeside Jazz Festival wouldn't happen to be Lakeside High School would it? If it is, I would like to know which member of my band posted this. :]

    - The Bari Player

  • @YogurtInBudapest17 lol no, i dont think so.

  • @YogurtInBudapest17 not us katie...

  • @bobthathead3 aww, poo, we're not playing it :(

  • I'm playing count bubba's revenge in my school. Another great screaming trumpet song especially since I'm the only one that cab hit em. I'd love to play the end of this one though. If anyone has any idea where to get it please let me know.

  • 2:31

    a bari sax's heaven

  • Love it. <3

  • I played the 2nd trombone part on my clarinet December of 2009, but we had no trombones in our jazz band and baritones, also, we played a different arrangement.

  • 1st trombone in my school playing this. obviosuly not as good as this but i love playing it and we're getting like halfway there =p

  • same

  • I'm first chair tenor in my big band at school, and im playing the second solo, with just the bass and sax.. Im not playing the transcribed solo, but improv.. there are tons of chords, many are 9 chords

  • the bass line at 0:04 to 0:14 is sweet

  • Gary Grant is playing lead on this track, Jerry Hey on 2nd, Wayne Bergeron on 3rd and Dan Savant on 4th.

  • Who's on first!?!?

    What's on second!?

    I don't know!!!.... third chair.

  • Wayne Bergeron... God Damn

  • alto player here :D wow i can't wait to preform this for jazz band it's gonna be maaad slick. super improv, here i come!

  • i played this last year in jazz band earned us straight ones at a band review!

really fun song to play and high notes for us trumpets are always a plus :D

  • Yeah. We trumpets are the best.

  • Flango8. agreed we are pretty awsome! :P

  • @flango8 Heck yes.

  • @flango8 Bah, I'm not caught up in all you winds' competition. Drums ftw.

  • @flango8 Sorry flango, much respect for the trumpets, but this one's for the saxes. Our solis on this chart are great. When we play this in rehearsal the rest of the band is in awe at the sound of our section playing this piece.

  • @Zmanhabib It doesnt matter. Trumpets are still the best haha

  • @flango8 and @legodude5252

haha i have a solution: JAZZ is the best! :D

  • @Zmanhabib That sounds good to me haha. I gotta give my respect to my sax brothers, though, as it was my original intention to be a sax man

  • @flango8 do not forget about your trombone brothers and sisters! :P

  • @Kerpaltheballer thats good that yall like the high notes! The lead player at my school complains!!

  • I played trumpet on this last year too! Fun.

  • I love the sax and bass section

  • both trombone soli's are very sexy. I really like the 4th(bass) trombone! very nice Grade 5 song

  • @ruins19 Bill Reichenbach, can't go wrong with that.

  • trumpet soli is the best

  • who does the two solos?

  • @saxtom1 i believe the sax player that does most of the solos is Eric Marienthal.

  • i am playing this in the school jazz band and i like the part at 6:00

  • Great song great solis

  • Big Phat Band might be doing the special guest WSU honor jazz band next year, it's too bad I'm a senior I would have loved to here the sax player own my ears live!

  • man its crazy how they can play all of the notes perfectly together with all of the corect dynamics. thats what makes a jazz band.

  • i remember playing this in all county jazz band....

that first sax soli was increadibly fun to play! too bad we had to cut it out cause only three people could play it. :P

  • conceited much?

  • indeed, he is!

indignant conceited Foo, your boasts hold no house with these cats!

  • absolutely. there is no way your whole band can "kill this song" if you're the only good player

  • ... kinda ya

  • i think he's refering to "killing the song" as literally killing it...like in a bad way. Not "killing" as in "owning" meaning doing a really good job.

  • Solid, Crisp Brass Line!

  • My jazz band played this last year, we won the Eau Claire Jazz Festival and played at the University of Northern Iowa with this song being one of our charts. Sick sax part!!

  • First Gordon Goodwin song I ever heard...years later it is still my favorite...easily too...but I notice some people seem to think that Eric Marienthal plays the solo...that is not Eric Marienthal...stylistically , rhythmically, etc. you can tell that this is someone else...

  • trombone soli <333

  • We are plaaying this for jazz 1 at east kentwood. I love the soli after the break. i play 2nd tenor and we blow the water out. its so fun to play this. Our band rocks

  • I love this song AND Count Bubba's revenge!

  • being a sax player i gotta say that 1:23 to 1:45 is sick!!!!!!!! and i seen there first alto eric maranthal at UNLV and believe me it was the most incredible thing i've ever witnessed

  • i agree with baltzy...maybe cuz im a sax player, but 1:23 to 1:45 is pretty awesome. dont get me wrong, the piece is just downright sick

  • From 1:23 till 2:43 is the best.
