BUT: the combat system sucks! (at least on console, dunno how it is on pc)

it works for the normal enemies well enough, but if you intend to use the system as it is SUPPOSED to be, it fails you dramatically

often enough my characters would do nothing during a fight, and if I command them to use a certain item in the tactics-menu, they wouldn't use it and do nothing at all!

THAT SUCKS!

its story is so good that during my first play through i wanted to hit all the main plot points as fast as i could i finished my first play through in about 30 hours but i skiped almost all side missions, and at the time all i had for DLC was Shale's DLC, on the following play throughs with all the in game DLC it takes me about 50+ hours while doing about 70-80% of the side missions.

This is one of the best RPG's I have ever played - Although the combat could use a little work on the console versions, everything else is top notch. The voice acting in particular is always amazing. The relationship you build with your party is deep and submersive. The leveling system and complex and encourages re playability. The wait for Dragon Age 2 feels like a life time after my experience with this game. If you enjoy good stories and rpg's, this game is a must for you.

Bioware is good at crafting good characters and stories, but this game didn't really pull me in as much as Mass Effect did. Also, ME2 didn't have that good a story either, good characters, but not a great story, as it was merely setting the stage for ME3. IMO, the game with the best story from 2010 would have to be Bioshock 2, because of how emotional and deep it is. I only bought this game because I felt like medieval games, but the combat got boring.

@NIKers96 I don't know if somebody has said this to you yet, but from what I've read is that the term "Blight" is an event in time as well as what you said is correct, the combination of an archdemon and the darkspawn.

I mean when you are trapped in a machine "and leaving it means your death because your vitals are attached" and the machine is set on a crash course with oblivion due to it's data configuration... and to top it off the strongest being in the known universe is hunting you down for fun and only you can stop it but even if you do you will still die in the end there is an awful lot of reflection.

@theplrbear1028 You just have to keep playing it and you'll get into it. It takes a while for the pace to pick up, but once it does it's awesome. Experiment with the classes and see which you like the best, and just customize the character to be you. If you go for a cookie cutter character you won't enjoy it as much.

I'm sure the battle system in DA:O follows the "real-time-turn-base" bioware-esque plus their D&D system. Meaning you line up your command and it will happen in that order. I found it unsatisfying in The Knights of The Old Republic but after a while I kept thinking about it, how I can be better and so on.

It's not for everyone but I found it fun in the end. Try it out

@jebidi117 I think Oblivion has a fantastic world and fun side quests but there are no interesting characters and the main story is REALLY dull. Dragon Age is a more focused game, not as open but with a better story, script and characters. It also got a far more complex fighting system if you compare it to Oblivions. I can sacrifece some freedom in a game if everything else gets better.

Ok people who are raging TES4, go get F(allout)3. If you play that, then you understand how it feels to play an upgraded TES4 (also I think they only intended to release 4 TES'). This game looks a lot better on a decent PC and though hacking at the feet because of a stairs has happened before, nothing as drastic as described.

For comparison, I have roughly 200 games (modern and old) illegal, but I have DA : O (+ Awakening + DLC) original, because I buy games I like (*still has to buy BG ^^' )

@Dreignify I agree, if you are going to include graphics and gameflow, play it on all available platforms. PC Graphics look a lot better then the console graphics. In fact, that's why I hardly have any console games, yet both the xbox and ps3.

I haven't had my characters hack n slash enemies half way across the rooms, though what he showed I have seen before, for now I think it's because originally it was intended to be a PC game and it just didn't work as well on the consoles.

why was he reviewing the xbox 360 version, The Pc version is soooo much better. The Graphics are much better, The combat is even more managable, Controls much better, and also camera is better.
