My boyfriend gave me six red roses for Valentine's, and I've used one of those roses to begin my oil. My plan was to infuse the oil six times (one month for each rose), but I was wondering if this was too many times.
I used an old wine bottle that I cleaned and sweet almond oil, and it's at the back of my closet in complete darkness.
@megdesrochers Oh no, that's not too many times! It will only make the oil stronger! I really like that idea to use the roses your boyfriend got you. :) Mucha Love!
This is how I planned on creating my own oils as well. I don't know why people don't create their own; essential oils are extremely pricey as well as not as close to your heart as your own creations! =)
What do you think of this idea: Creating these oils and distilling them 7 times (7 being a holy number) or even 3 times? Also, I think it's good you used a green bottle. I would only use green or brown; that way the sun can't destroy the contents, but it can still charge the oils. =)
I usually do three times, but seven does sound like a good number... or 9, that could work as well. But goodness, you're going to have that oil sitting for seven months? :P I do like using coloured glass for my oils, but I really liked the round one, and there isn't much sun in my house or where I'm moving so I didn't think it would do too much harm. :)

thanks for posting.
are there any dried herbs you cannot use or wouldn't work?

I can't think of any, it would just take longer for some. Especially if they've been dried for more than a year.
