The japanese made this stupid idotic thing because they're pissed that America (the best country in the world) kicked their butts in World war 2. Plus If its during world war 2 then why the heck do the Japs have all that modern day crap and if not why are the Americans flying dauntlesses. Dont get me wrong the Japs were probably one of the toughest Countries we ffought but this is just bull crap.
@mercenaryzombie Just watch the anime. Imperial Japan is NOT portrayed favorably at all - the heros have to defend themselves from both sides. At one point, they face off against the Yamato. It's not an American-bashing thing at all. This is just one scene in which the ship is attacked and they have to make the hard choice to fight back.
XO survives the war, after finding out that he was killed as a child in this alternate-history, he salutes the Mirai once again, when it sets sail once again in the future. Mirai is destroyed as it launches 2 tomahawks to the yamato, sinking it, preventing its interference to the ww2. After this, Mirai comes under attack from the US fleet. It is destroyed as a 400mm caliber shell penetrates its all decks, exploding under water and breaking the mirai into two with the shockwave.
if anyones seen the movie the final countdown (i havent but i know the story) i think it would have been interesting if the mirai and the nimits met up but of course the nimits returned to it's time before the mirai arrived.
Ironic... destroying american planes with modern american equipment. Mirai (Future in Japanese) - beautiful name for the ship. And "Zipang" was the best anime series I have ever seen. Are there some other WW2 anime movies?
An officer on-board did say that the warship was built to intercept modern supersonic jet fighters, imagine against antique WW2 planes! Like the Mirai activated "extreme slo-mo" cheat!
It's called Zipang, it's an anime and manga (comic book). They only made 26 eps, but it was pretty good. Think of the movie "The Final Countdown" just from the other side.
In regards to Hiroshima, I'll qoute Cpt. J. Phillip (USS Texas)... "Don't cheer boys, the poor devils are dieing!" or more appropriately for the Japanese in this case "Your never beaten until you admit it." Patton.
If we had had to invade Japan, then I probably wouldn't even be here, since my grandfather (an infantryman) and about 2 million other Americans and Japanese (soldiers and civilians) would be dead.
We had to end the war quickly to save lives, ours and theirs.
There was growing opposition to the war, and the entire island of Japan was literally starving.
It's true that it avoided a land invasion, but would a land invasion really have been attempted, or necessary? They were a nation about to fall apart. And those two nukes have scarred that land, and that culture more than you realise.
The problem with the show is that it is revisionist, it patently ignores the fact that Japan started an aggressive campaign of conquest and someone without the knowledge of history would think that the USA attacked Japan for no reason whatsoever. I like the show, but still it left a bitter taste in my mouth. Imperial Navy and Army fought with great courage but it is a crime to ignore the horrible crimes they commited, from Nanking to Phillipines.
@daktaklakpakpak Have you watched it? It is NOT revisionist. It acknowledges the evils of that period. This is just one action scene but there's a lot of political content and it doesn't pull punches. In this scene, officers from the ship have been kidnapped by a Japanese sub and the ship is FORCED to fight the Americans as a demonstration of it's capabilities. This clip doesn't show it, but the sub is watching the whole battle.

The funny thing is, we as the USA, sold The Empire of Japan the plans and schematics to a previous version of our most powerful line DDG's ever in existence. We had the technology first, then other countries followed.
Wow. The animation is very alike to the Area 88 TV series. What animation studio made this series?

Was that really a solution?

wait, what, a modern japanese ship in the 1940's pacific?
is this something of a alternative history anime?

Hm, just seems like an animu rip off of The Final Countdown, with more timeline interference.

I don't see why people are dogging this series so much. I find it interesting to see what would've happen if the Japanese had the upper-hand.

Dauntless AND Avengers.
Anyway this concept is so stupid...it seems they just can't accept they had lost the war. The drawings ain't quite good too as well as the CGs...

The Japanese empire no longer existed when they created their version of our DDGs. Japan politically exists as just Japan.

You try to dodge a heat seeking AA missile that goes roughly 6 times faster then your SBD Dauntless and the missile is also lot more agile.
Also the computers help out on calculating angle and degree of fire on taking down the Avengers.
Sorry but you failed rather hard.
