This guy is great. I'm amazed that he can pull off everything he does, because his picking hand looks too basic or simple somehow, but his fretting hand is jazz chord perfect. He's a puzzle and I need to hear more. His quick Beatles medley is fast, fun, and hip as an old Rickenbacher Beatles viola bass.
7 dislikes mmm jealousy is a terrible thing lol I think i'll thumb it down and here's my reasons He is 100 times better than me has a better guitar better looking of I forgot that guitar is toooo trebly lol and the B------- he didn't play While my guitar gently boo hooo hooo ok is that seven no ok I'll be back.
@vitormonticelli not mad bemused that this guy went to all the trouble of learning the guitar to virtuoso standard worked out a beatles medley from 400 songs and all you could say was Baa Baaa Blackbird you obviously don't realise what's involved in getting that good.
Taylor does a great job sponsoring excellent guitarist like SK and Doyle Dykes. Glad to see they are in touch with musicians more than just big names.
@dguitar1213 You can't do that is after Drive my car & I can't remember the other one's title!!! Paul sings it and I think it's on Help! or in A hard days' night
Hes got a hold of the melody lines! Some impressive playing for sure. A nice switch from the straight strumming style or the alternate picking that alot of players might approach the melody structure with. Excellent.
The sound quality was much better live and in person. Mr. Steven King's guitar was nicely amplified and properly EQ'd .... I just happened to be there with a cheap digital video camera.
Please don't blame Steven King for any inadequacy in recording quality , it was an honor and privilege to watch this great player on stage just a few feet distance.
Ok I won't blame him. I trust you. Thanks for clarifying. He is a truly gifted player. I am sure his guitar sounds great irl. It is hard to capture the true sound of the guitar on a camcorder mic. I understand :)
I'm sure this sounded great live, but I do think fridrikur is right in that it sounds slightly thin. I believe he uses extra light strings, and sometimes he plucks above the sound hole, which also isn't helping the sound. That said, however, he is an amazing player and I would love to see him live some day
@TAPlastic No I was not being jealous. Just being honest. I love his guitar skills, but I still think the sound was very thin. He is an excellent player do not get me wrong. The sound is important too. Just listen to the sound of Chet Atkins recordings and those of Thom Bresh and Doyle Dykes. They do not just play good but the sound of their instruments also sounds excellent. Since I did not this great player I do not know if this poor sound is due to the recording or the actual guitar.
@fridrikur Ok but excuse me if I think you should be thanking the guy for the opportunity to see this little private gem, which video of your shall we watch to see the perfect upload in tone and virtuosity??
That was terrific Mr. King! What an incredible feat! I'll tell ya, the acoustic guitar can be a rough animal to tame physically speaking, let alone playing one complicated piece after another. You must have the hands of Hercules!
Great job. I love the intricasies of your pieces. This is what I love about fingerstyle guitar. I can't imagine pulling off pieces like these, any other way.
I will most deffinately be studying your arrangements and picking your brain. Great job. Peace.
