I love that Brad didn't do what most replacements do in his place and try to be a carbon copy of the man before him. He had his own distinct technique and style, and did things his way.
I honestly want to say that I saw Ozzy back in 87 during his Ultimate sin tour. Looking back I wish I had not that opportunity.I am since Born Again and I think that as a born again person I can honestly say I am much happier now and more concerned for the world troubles and woes, now I know that some of you may find me a bit irritating and you'll probably not like this, I don't expect you too but,As a former metalist I always respected others point of view.
Ya know what? I am so fucking SICK of seeing the name of a certain young "singer" in every god damn comment section of every fucking video. QUIT MENTIONING HIM!
You guys show respect for Gillis,he was instructed on some songs not to play the solo note for note, like in goodbye to romance, which is totally different. Its a Ozzy Randy thing,it was a very intimate song for them as buddies. Brads solo here with melodic improvisation sounds like something out of a opera, very emotional and makes me cry when I hear it. Beautiful playing.
@garyjfoster at first I agreed, but give it a second, maybe even a third chance, you may find something about it that strikes you as awesome as well. I have been a fan since 1969, and with each change I still found Ozzy to be the king. Peace
Ozzy is noted just as much for his "Let's see everyone go CRAZY tonight" showmanship as any of his lyrics and singing style, he's the MC of Metal! haha I see this is with vintage Brad Gillis of Night Ranger, at this time period, all I had was Circus Magazine to read about the bands I was hearing, never got to see them live in the 80s
@laragunner123 Brad Gillis when he left, Circus mag IIRC, reportedly said he'd "Heavy Metalled Himself out", however, he and Jeff Watson SMOKE in Night Ranger and that band keeps plugging away like Ozzy himself. They are due to play here this summer and I don't wanna miss that show!
I saw Ozzy on this tour. April 1982, Madison Square Garden, NYC. I was still in high school and the show was on a school night too :)
It was awesome but there was a black cloud hanging over the arena because Randy was killed just 3 or 4 weeks before this show. What was even more ominous was that the very next day after this show, there was a massive blizzard that hit NYC, 10+ inches, shcool closed. I'll never forget it.
This obviously wasn't the Speak of the Devil tour. I was after Randy died while Brad Gillis was filling in. If it were the Speak of the Devil tour it would be Jake playing.
Good music. Ozzy is seriously underrated by the rock/metal press largely due to his proletarian shock antics, although people quickly overlook the man's background and childhood. His singing is always on key and lyrics and melodies are clever. Randy is very good but not at Roy Buchanan's amazing level or emotive force.
Thank God for Sharon. She kept Ozzy going after Randy died. If she hadn't been there, he wouldn't have had a solo career at all. He would've died long ago without Sharon.
@11dsweeney Wow, way to stay classy, 2 people don't like something you do so raped and murdered eh? Im all for taking pop shots at people but seriously, you and the 13 people who liked your comment are some real fucking losers. Raped and murdered? You fucking trash bag.
How Can Anybody Critizise this tour, Ozzy was Playing weeks after losing his Best Friend and one of Greatest guitarists Ever in Randy Rhodes! Performing is probably the only thing that Kept Ozzy from just Imploding!
It's always odd to me how guitarists treat other guitarists. You go through all the Brad Gillis Ozzy videos, and all the comments are like "Brad Gillis sucks" or "Lay off the whammy bar" Or "Randy is way better!" However, if you were to go to a video of some dude standing in his living room playing "Cover of Revelation Mother Earth" with the same skill as Brad Gillis, all the comments would be "Awesome!" "Great cover!" "Amazing skills bro!" and would be 1,000 likes 15 dislikes. Hmmm
brad you did a great job on this album, you had big shoes too fill and did it , also you helped make randys music that much more of a classic, my hats off too you, because not just anyone could have pulled it off but you did it!!
@yournightmareify Brad Gillis was a phenomenal guitarist in his own right. He was my favorite guitarist that played for Ozzy. I just loved his style and his technique. I recognize that Jake is probably the best guitarist that went through Camp Osbourne and I do love Jake but Gillis playing resonates with me to this day.
I get so tired of people ragging on Brad Gillis. The guy stepped up to the plate and knocked it out! Not too many other guitarists could have done this in such a short time and sound almost flawless, and if your like me Speak of the Devil is one of my favs!
@herzeleid777777 - I love Ozzy, too - but people have different tastes, and I think it's only fair to accept that, and not suggest people are retarded because they happen to like something different. And after all, 2 to 234 is quite a good ratio in Ozzy's favour (remember the saying 'you can't please all of the people all of the time' ;-)
Rhoads.... He was one rocker who could have gone on to become a great. In fact, in his short career, he almost became. And an untimely death gave him status of a legend.....
The solos of Crazy Train & Mr. Crowley are two of all time best.
Gotta agree wid u there sumtimes ozzy should listen 2 his manager n not his wife or vice versa. Somewhere out there is a dvd screaming 2 b released wid randy rhodes on it! He,s still a legend though!
gillis was the only guy to replace rhoads who actually sounded close to orginal guitar parts. I agree with ggorilla1 sharon has to have very high quality video of rhoads hidden away. the video camera did exist in 1980 it was only the very rich could afford the ones that shoot high quality. rumor i heard that a uk filmmaker was hired to film the making of diary of madman studio stuff. she has all of it and wont let it go.
Should we burn her at the stake as a Witch? Jk...........................?! maybe? Nah Forget her just listen to Randy shred her to bits with his badassness!!! There is only a few special artists who are not boastfull on their abilities and just focus on what they love to do not the money they get in the bank! Thats just a bonus compared to the feeling they get playing what they write to cheering fans! Its a jam session with friends.........millions of friends!!!
Brad did his finest to rock the rest of this tour for Randy. i was a teen idolizing RR at the time when this happened/he left us. it's very eerie how there is such emptiness here. RIP RR. Ozzy is noticably empty in his heart.
But this is actually Brad Gillis on the Guitar after Randy died. Somebody has got it worng but no biggie. Bard was darn good and clean. He was out of a band called Night Ranger
a night ranger guitarist with a red strat... no replacement for the angel who wrote this.
without sharon or record company pressure, ozzy would have been locked in his house eating pizza and crying... probably the saddest tour in the history of metal.
yes i hear you man ozzy invented heavy metal vocals and is the best singer ever and randy is the reasoni started to play guitar he is my biggest influence ever
Actually, Randy's mother didn't let a lot of his stuff be released either. She didn't even let Speak of the Devil contain any of Randy's songs, so it only came out with Sabbath. Only much later Randy's live stuff came out on Tribute.
@ggorilla1 20%? I bet we have less than 5%. Stupid bitch. I'm guessing Delores has moved on, stop using that excuse. What a queen bitch, Sharon Osbourne. I guess in order to honor Randy, we should hold back footage of him? Just like the rerecordings of Blizzard and Diary, $haron showing her true form.
@barnickd Your Fuckin WRONG... Heres a FACT. Sharon didnt introduce ozzy and randy, nor did she have anything to do with it... It was Dana Strum From Slaughter and "V V I". make sure you have the REAL story first Everyone. like cliff burton, He was still alive, when the Bus fell on him a second time he was decapitated. Somebody Out There has to be smart enough to Verify this or Have at least heard these stories as well.
@CrimsonIdol1990 actually it was rudy sarzo or sarza whatever his lat name is he was the bassist for quiet riot at the time and as we all know rady played guitar for them at the time anywho rudy told randy that ozzy left sabbath and was lookin for a guitarist in his new solo band so randy went and before even got a chance to play anything ozzy hired him he complained cause all he got to play was warm up scales... like you said someone has to have the facts
@ggorilla1 If she was only about the money, she would have released all of that Randy Rhoads footage within the blink of an eye. Think before you write some stupid bullshit!
@ggorilla1 I hear ya. I got a felling there might besomething a little bit more personal and legal about any material not being released or they were just too stupid to record any of these shows that they spent so much money to put out on the road with Randy. Maybe they just dont give a damn about us Randy Rhoads fans, thats what I feel.

The most shocking thing is that this video was shot just months after the show in Chicago with Randy... but the quality is much higher.
Ozzy has lots of Randy footage and we have only like 20% of that, thanks to Sharon Osbourne bitch who only cares about money.

Just like the rerecordings of Blizzard and Diary, $haron showing her true form.
goodygoody23 1 year ago
@ggorilla1 - Sharon's the "Digitial Bitch" that song on the 'Born Again" record is about her.... fuckin slut....
wolfatnight 1 year ago
@wolfatnight She was the reason Ozzy and Randy even played together
barnickd 1 year ago
@barnickd Your Fuckin WRONG... Heres a FACT. Sharon didnt introduce ozzy and randy, nor did she have anything to do with it... It was Dana Strum From Slaughter and "V V I". make sure you have the REAL story first Everyone. like cliff burton, He was still alive, when the Bus fell on him a second time he was decapitated. Somebody Out There has to be smart enough to Verify this or Have at least heard these stories as well.

@CrimsonIdol1990 whatever dude. keep your crazy to yourself
barnickd 1 year ago
@CrimsonIdol1990 actually it was rudy sarzo or sarza whatever his lat name is he was the bassist for quiet riot at the time and as we all know rady played guitar for them at the time anywho rudy told randy that ozzy left sabbath and was lookin for a guitarist in his new solo band so randy went and before even got a chance to play anything ozzy hired him he complained cause all he got to play was warm up scales... like you said someone has to have the facts
pepsican321 1 year ago
@ggorilla1 indeed I could cry for days about it :( I really want to see all existing footage of Randy, I think many people would!
Elvinv 1 year ago
@ggorilla1 wow really?
73sebrougham 1 year ago
@ggorilla1 If she was only about the money, she would have released all of that Randy Rhoads footage within the blink of an eye. Think before you write some stupid bullshit!

@ggorilla1 I hear ya. I got a felling there might besomething a little bit more personal and legal about any material not being released or they were just too stupid to record any of these shows that they spent so much money to put out on the road with Randy. Maybe they just dont give a damn about us Randy Rhoads fans, thats what I feel.
