Hi I recently bought an iPhone 3GS digitizer replacement and it worked perfectly for a few days, then i droped it from about 8 inches of the floor as i was about to get up and now the left 1/3 of the digitizer is not working, i took it apart to have a look at the wires to see if they were connected and they were but then the digitizer got sensitive, you could open apps without touching the screen, now it back to being unresponsive ,any ideas?
THANK YOU!!!! You saved me a bunch of money! ordered your new screen and digitzer that came with screw driver and two tools. followed your video and my iphone is like new!! great shipping and packaging and quick delivery. * anyone with half of the ability to do this, and has PATIENCE (getting the old glass off the plastic frame is a lot of work, specially if your glass is broken as bad as mine was) I strongly advise you to save $100 dollars and irritation dealing with apple!!
@walker2006au Hold home button, the volume UP, then power - hold them all at the same time until the apple logo appears. I think this initiates some sort of screen calibration.
Worked perfectly!! Took me about 1.5 hours and was pretty fiddley. The six screws are about the size of a grain of sand. If you have a magnifying lens with a bright light it would help.
I have a question: Ok i want to customize my iphone so it ill look better and i was wondering if i could buy instead of having that chrome middle bar that goes all the way around the iphone into a black one? If you dont understand me i am talking about the chrome middle plate that is at 1:30 in the video. please respond to my question asap before i buy parts for it!
how do i know what part is broken? my touch screen works fine, there is a noticeable crack on the screen with a gray zig-zag pattern along the crack. although it is hard, i can still see images through the grayness.
@goldenboy88x Sometimes you can use the adhesive that is left from the old screen but to be 100% safe I would order the adhesive. Most of the time the digitizer will pull off 90% of the original adhesive with it.
@notoriousjerks1 Depends on what part is broken. The top outer layer is called a Touch Panel the part under that which allows the apps/icons to display is called the LCD. Take a look at our Blog at DirectFix com we have an article that will help you figure out what part you need.

Hey pdaparts, thanks so much for your videos they are absolutely fantastic and very very useful. I was wondering though about the very thin rubber strip that runs around the edge of the screen, the bit which is visable when the phone is together as the thin rubber bit between the screen and the silver bezel. Is it supposed to be handled VERY carefully so as to keep it intact? I replaced the screen on my phone but this rubber bit is practically gone.
@CqWeAkYcAmZ The rubber strip you are referring to is included when you purchase the complete screen assembly which is part number IP-2322 at DirectFix com
Is their a video that will show how to put back the back housing because I want replace the back house and I saw the fiber thing and I'm scared to put it back.
@diegoshredsbicycles If the backlight on the LCD is the issue you can fix it or goto our webpage DirectFix com and take a look at the Repair Service Page.
Hi, my iPhone got a crack on the glass but I can't feel the crack, and after a while the pixels kind of "spread out" all over the screen, do I need both an LCD screen and glass digitizer or only LCD or digitizer?
HELP. My iphone 3G touch screen is not responsive but the phone still works and receives calls as well i can shut it down, do i need a new "Full LCD touch screen" or just a "Screen Glass Digitizer"
@oneiooknurhookd If the touch panel is not broken you just need to replace the LCD most of the time. If the LCD and Touch Panel are broken you will need a complete screen which is Part Number IP-2322 at DirectFix com.
@itaintrite Either will work. Sometime we find that doing both work best. Use the suction cup to start pulling it up and the case opener tool to help finish it.
Is there a Difference in the LCD screen for the 3g an 3gs? and my friend was fixing his phone and he broke the part that holds the 3rd cable down and he wants to know if there is anything that he can do.
There is a reason why they dont allow it..If I was running the company I would do the same..just a thought here..
Imagine you have an ipod and you aren't tech savy just as most ipod or iphone users are and your battery dies..Now seeing that it may be a couple years old newer models with more memory or features are out.. So if you aren't insanely cheap.. you'd just go out and buy a new one. For the cheap it doesn't work for them but as we all know apple isn't targeting cheap people.
Not 100% sure what your asking. We have adhesive kits for when you replace just the Touch Panel and if you are referring to the complete screen then yes there is a new seal already on it. Take a look at our webpage DirectFix com for the different screen repair options.
thanks for the quick reply. I unscrewed the 2 screws at the bottom then when using the tool just as described in the video it pushed in what looks like an o-ring that goes all around the glass. its where you stick the tool in thats right below the bezel.
I understand. If replacing just the touch panel the rubber part stays with the frame. If you order a complete screen the rubber part is on it already.
I think I was a little confused. I think im going to just order the touch assembly with the frame so I dont have to mess with any adhesives.. even though its much cheaper to just get the touch panel
3G screens will not work on the 3GS. On our webpage we list the screens that are specific for the model. You should have shopped with us at DirectFix com
ok im going to buy a new screen for my iphone 3gS the top part of my screen is cracked not actually the screen but above the screen where there is the little rectangle thing ....there the glass fallin out some and i can see orange where the glass used to be is this still just a screen replacement or something else plz help!!!!
How to tell which Screen part you need for the iPhone 3GS from DirectFix com
- LCD Only: If the image under the glass is broken and the touch panel is NOT then you only need an LCD.
- Touch Panel aka Digitizer: If the top touch panel or aka glass top is cracked or broken but the image under it is fine then you only need the Touch Panel.
- Complete Screen with Touch Panel and LCD: If the top touch panel is broken and the lcd image is either black liquid or cracked you need a complete screen.
may I ask what do I need to buy for my Iphone if only the glass is broken? the touch screen still works and everything functions well. I also would like you to compare your glass and digitizer to Apple's glass and digitizer, thanks in advance.
We don't need to do anything about the battery if were just replacing the screen right? (I know that sounds retarded but idk if you may have to reset something to recognize the new screen...probably not lol)
Very thorough instructions! It's sounds like it would be a lot of work for the inexperienced, but if you are watching this you probably have nothing to lose in making the repair.
Thank you so much! Hope I can return the favor someday.

Is there a Difference in the LCD screen for the 3g an 3gs? and my friend was fixing his phone and he broke the part that holds the 3rd cable down and he wants to know if there is anything that he can do.
Codytilley 1 year ago
A 3G LCD has a different connector than a 3GS LCD so no you can not use one from a 3G to fix a 3GS and vice verse.

what if i just leave my iphone without the digitizer will it still work?
xAbadinfluence7x 1 year ago
The iPhone will not work without the digitizer. I mean the screen will not work that is.
pdaparts 1 year ago
How do you remove the LCD from the glass? Mine is stuck on there. It doesn't pry off easily like in this video?!
danielbloom 1 year ago
Take a look at our iPhone 3GS Touch Panel/Digitizer replacement video.
pdaparts 1 year ago
Apple really needs to allow the user to remove the battery without opening the phone completely.
Pizzscn 1 year ago
There is a reason why they dont allow it..If I was running the company I would do the same..just a thought here..
Imagine you have an ipod and you aren't tech savy just as most ipod or iphone users are and your battery dies..Now seeing that it may be a couple years old newer models with more memory or features are out.. So if you aren't insanely cheap.. you'd just go out and buy a new one. For the cheap it doesn't work for them but as we all know apple isn't targeting cheap people.

how do you separate the chrome bezel from the back cover to replace it with a new one?

Try watching the iPhone back cover replacement video we made.
pdaparts 1 year ago
Does the kit come with a new sealer ring since the one on it gets pushed and possibly ruined when taking the glass off?
jtcdesigns 1 year ago
Not 100% sure what your asking. We have adhesive kits for when you replace just the Touch Panel and if you are referring to the complete screen then yes there is a new seal already on it. Take a look at our webpage DirectFix com for the different screen repair options.
pdaparts 1 year ago
thanks for the quick reply. I unscrewed the 2 screws at the bottom then when using the tool just as described in the video it pushed in what looks like an o-ring that goes all around the glass. its where you stick the tool in thats right below the bezel.
jtcdesigns 1 year ago
I understand. If replacing just the touch panel the rubber part stays with the frame. If you order a complete screen the rubber part is on it already.
pdaparts 1 year ago
I think I was a little confused. I think im going to just order the touch assembly with the frame so I dont have to mess with any adhesives.. even though its much cheaper to just get the touch panel
jtcdesigns 1 year ago
i ordered like 10 3g screens can i use them for the 3gs?

culaytar 2 years ago
How to tell which Screen part you need for the iPhone 3GS from DirectFix com
- LCD Only: If the image under the glass is broken and the touch panel is NOT then you only need an LCD.
- Touch Panel aka Digitizer: If the top touch panel or aka glass top is cracked or broken but the image under it is fine then you only need the Touch Panel.
- Complete Screen with Touch Panel and LCD: If the top touch panel is broken and the lcd image is either black liquid or cracked you need a complete screen.
