  • Thank you so much! Hope I can return the favor someday.

  • Successful repair and replacement of shattered (not cracked, SHATTERED) digitizer.

I didn't see the reassembly video until I already had it back together. Getting ribbon 3 in is a bitch. Everything else is cake.

  • Does not show you how to re-assemble everything. The hardest part is figuring out to attach those 3 ribbons which all overlap each other?!@? Who cares about the battery. D(- )video.

  • @dixxfighter Actually if you check our other video we DO have a reassembly for the 3GS.

  • Hi I recently bought an iPhone 3GS digitizer replacement and it worked perfectly for a few days, then i droped it from about 8 inches of the floor as i was about to get up and now the left 1/3 of the digitizer is not working, i took it apart to have a look at the wires to see if they were connected and they were but then the digitizer got sensitive, you could open apps without touching the screen, now it back to being unresponsive ,any ideas?

    thanks.

  • @JustGoWithTheFllow You need to replace the touch panel aka digitizer. Goto DirectFix com and take a look at part number IP-2320

  • Thanks so much !

  • Thank u very much dude I did everything u said and turned out great!

  • My Screen has came off off the frame and has a small chip in the corner. do you think i need to just replace the adhesive or the the screen to?

  • @2010codysmith Contact us directly via our webpage DirectFix com for further help on this issue.

  • My touch screen stopped working will replacing the screen fix this?

  • @Ludogg0 Yes, Take a look at DirectFix com and part number IP-2320

  • i cant get the last screw on the LCD to come off. any tips?

  • THANK YOU!!!! You saved me a bunch of money! ordered your new screen and digitzer that came with screw driver and two tools. followed your video and my iphone is like new!! great shipping and packaging and quick delivery. * anyone with half of the ability to do this, and has PATIENCE (getting the old glass off the plastic frame is a lot of work, specially if your glass is broken as bad as mine was) I strongly advise you to save $100 dollars and irritation dealing with apple!!

    THANK YOU !!

  • Nice and clear video thanks.

  • Nice and clear video thanks.

  • i turned my iphone off one day at school and when i turned it back on, it freezes on the start up screen with the apple. what could the problem be?

  • when i put new screen in it shows a white screen??

  • @walker2006au Re-Check your connections. Most of the time they are not attached or installed correctly.

  • @walker2006au Hold home button, the volume UP, then power - hold them all at the same time until the apple logo appears. I think this initiates some sort of screen calibration.

  • Worked perfectly!! Took me about 1.5 hours and was pretty fiddley. The six screws are about the size of a grain of sand. If you have a magnifying lens with a bright light it would help.

  • @StompedAgain LOL theyre not that small :)

  • Thanks for the video. My iPhone now has a new battery, LCD screen and touch panel.

  • and now show us how to put it back together:)

  • @ccorr777 Check our other videos we have the reassembly video already done.

  • Thanks for the good how-to

  • The 3g and 3gs cables all look the same, would i be able to put a 3g screen in 3gs? or no

  • @thesunnydalight No. The screens are specific to the model.

  • While taking the phone apart I lose the white tab that holds cable 3. Where can I get a replacement for this white tab?

    Thanks.

  • @KashtPR That part is part of the motherboard.

  • Hi

    ipone 3

Have restored it using itunes but now it still says needs to be restored

Sometimes when it does go, it just defaults to one page eg messages - and I can't get it off that

Time for new one or can i do some surgery?

    Thanks

    Michael

  • I think I would be a ble to do this. If took apart a ps3 too scratch so I think I can do iPhone

  • Is this easy?

  • @TheLouisCL Depends on your skill level. Watch the complete free video and you decide. If not check our page for us to do the repair for you.

  • Hi if my iphone 3g don't power up at all is it repairable

  • @jcracefan24 Maybe. It depends.

  • I have a question: Ok i want to customize my iphone so it ill look better and i was wondering if i could buy instead of having that chrome middle bar that goes all the way around the iphone into a black one? If you dont understand me i am talking about the chrome middle plate that is at 1:30 in the video. please respond to my question asap before i buy parts for it!

  • @oAOBPoToXiiC1o I am sure you could if you can find the part. We have not seen any in another color at this time.

  • how do i know what part is broken? my touch screen works fine, there is a noticeable crack on the screen with a gray zig-zag pattern along the crack. although it is hard, i can still see images through the grayness.

  • @jdaemon74 Goto our blog at DirectFix com/blog and look at the article with the title: "Which Screen Part You Need for a Cracked iPhone 3G/3GS"

  • Hi, can I use the 3GS screen, facia and digitizer and touchscreen (basically the outer bits) on an iPhone 3G?

  • @BLOBBLYBLOBBY Sorry you can not. They are different.

  • do i need to buy a new adhesive if i wanna change the digitizer ? is it a must ??

  • @goldenboy88x Sometimes you can use the adhesive that is left from the old screen but to be 100% safe I would order the adhesive. Most of the time the digitizer will pull off 90% of the original adhesive with it.

  • Wen u replace a cracked screen do u need a new digitizer??????

  • @notoriousjerks1 Depends on what part is broken. The top outer layer is called a Touch Panel the part under that which allows the apps/icons to display is called the LCD. Take a look at our Blog at DirectFix com we have an article that will help you figure out what part you need.

  • say i buy thr 3gs kit and stuff is it the same for an iphone 3g?

  • @k4r33m305 The 3G and 3GS screen are different including the touch panel and LCD. You must purchase the correct part that is for your model.

  • My iphone 3gs is still under warrenty if i fixed my screen myself, would thsi avoid my warrenty? thanks

  • @ross470 When you break the screen then you iphone is no longer under warranty. Apple does not warranty broken screens.

  • @ross470 yes it would void your warrenty!

    but its worth it!

  • If i open an iPhone 3GS up without backing it up before will i lose all the data on it (music, videos, apps, contacts, etc)?

  • @jayselmistry Maybe. It depends on what you are repairing on it or what you are taking out and fixing on it.

  • @pdaparts it's just a cracked screen screen on an iphone 3GS 32GB?

  • @jayselmistry If you are just replacing the screen you should not loose any data.

  • I have an iPhone 3GS 8GB, it's okay if I use an iPhone 3GS 16GB screen? I am assuming there isn't a difference.

  • @SomeRandomHomosexual Yes, you can do that and it will work fine. You just can not put a 3G screen in a 3GS or vice versa.

  • @pdaparts thank you!!

  • @SuperTheguys No problem and thank you for the post.

  • Would I be able to replace the back of an iPhone 3Gs with the back of an iPhone 3G?? They are the same inside correct??

  • @SuperTheguys No they are not the same. You must replace the back with the same model as the one you have.

  • Good job! Thanks

  • Thanks

  • From Puerto rico, thank you pdaparts!!

  • @Vidmary777 No problem and thanks for the post. Make sure to check out our FaceBook and Twitter pages also.

  • @rockinout69 You are welcome but here at DirectFix we are techie nerds and this means thanks.

  • Hey pdaparts, thanks so much for your videos they are absolutely fantastic and very very useful. I was wondering though about the very thin rubber strip that runs around the edge of the screen, the bit which is visable when the phone is together as the thin rubber bit between the screen and the silver bezel. Is it supposed to be handled VERY carefully so as to keep it intact? I replaced the screen on my phone but this rubber bit is practically gone.

    Thanks!

  • @CqWeAkYcAmZ The rubber strip you are referring to is included when you purchase the complete screen assembly which is part number IP-2322 at DirectFix com

  • When you say remove the ribbons out in the order 1,2,3, do you put that back in with the sequence 3,2,1?

I want to get all of the questions out of the way before I dive into this

  • @biggysmallz22 Yes you are correct.

  • @pdaparts Thanks

  • woo just fixed my screen. thanks. :]

  • Is their a video that will show how to put back the back housing because I want replace the back house and I saw the fiber thing and I'm scared to put it back.

  • @RichMallare Yes check out other videos.

  • can you guys replace/fix lcd screen light on my iphone it went out

  • @diegoshredsbicycles If the backlight on the LCD is the issue you can fix it or goto our webpage DirectFix com and take a look at the Repair Service Page.

  • My iphone 3gs can still detect finger movement with no problem.

If I get a replacement screen glass only without digitizer,

is it possible to extract the current digitizer and put it on the new screen glass?

  • @terratoss Check our blog at DirectFix com. We just did an article with pictures that will help you figure out what part you need.

  • very good... i like it! it helped me to change my glass!

  • thx

  • U dont need a prier thoug. Put a suctioncup on the screen and pull. Worked for me :) These videos where awesome though! Thumbs up

  • @azguz Correct. We have another video that shows how to use the suction cup to remove the screen also. Check our other videos..

  • Great Directions but might need to use the suction cup directions and prying as well

  • @irfan0676 Yes we have a video on using the suction cup to remove the screen.

  • Hi, my iPhone got a crack on the glass but I can't feel the crack, and after a while the pixels kind of "spread out" all over the screen, do I need both an LCD screen and glass digitizer or only LCD or digitizer?

    Thanks for the help.

  • @TryffelSmulor Check our blog at DirectFix com. We just did an article with pictures that will help you figure out what part you need.

  • HELP. My iphone 3G touch screen is not responsive but the phone still works and receives calls as well i can shut it down, do i need a new "Full LCD touch screen" or just a "Screen Glass Digitizer"

  • @edmon69 Goto DirectFix com and read the article in the Blog "Which Screen Part You Need for a Cracked iPhone 3G/3GS"

  • Thanks for the video.

  • where can i find a little pry tool like the one used in this video?

  • @gregoryshark Goto DirectFix com and the tool is a XX1521

  • ribbon 3 is a small black tab, not white

  • @STATUSthesleepers Actually depending on which vendor apple used and which revision of the iPhone you have it will be either Black or White.

  • my daughter dropped my iphone...now my screen is white and has some black lines on the screen...what do i need to fix it

  • @oneiooknurhookd If the touch panel is not broken you just need to replace the LCD most of the time. If the LCD and Touch Panel are broken you will need a complete screen which is Part Number IP-2322 at DirectFix com.

  • Is prying the screen a better method than using the suction cup?

  • @itaintrite Either will work. Sometime we find that doing both work best. Use the suction cup to start pulling it up and the case opener tool to help finish it.

  • after yu blow dry it what are u lifting up...??? i cant ssem to see it good

  • why dont they show you how to fix it while it is broken. my screen is totally cracked, how would i take off the glass?

  • @10jmsoccer Take a look at our other videos. We have one that shows how to fix the glass.

  • Thanks And high Quality !!!

  • thanks!!!

  • Great video! Took me only a half hour to install my new glass. Thanks for saving me $199 that Apple would have charged me.

  • Do you guys sell iPhone 3G batteries and rear housing? Thanks!

  • @RWTFska8te Yes, we sell both those items at our webpage DirectFix com

  • Will the back plastic housing from the 3GS fit on a standard 3G? Thinking of putting a 32GB 3GS one on my 16GB 3G.. great video guys, thanks!

  • @freddied3 Sorry the back are different.

  • Is there a Difference in the LCD screen for the 3g an 3gs? and my friend was fixing his phone and he broke the part that holds the 3rd cable down and he wants to know if there is anything that he can do.

  • A 3G LCD has a different connector than a 3GS LCD so no you can not use one from a 3G to fix a 3GS and vice verse.

  • my iphone's touch screen is not calibrated. when I try to click something it clicks another thing! what do i do?

  • From your description is sounds like the touch panel is bad. Goto DirectFix com and look at part number IP-2320

  • i juse tuk it apart haw do i put it bak !!!!!!

  • Take a look at our other videos. We have plenty of them that show you how to Re-Assemble the phone.

  • is there anythere way to get the screen off without that tool cuz im not watsting money on something ill use once

  • You will need one of the following tools. Yes you will hopefully only need these 1 time. Goto DirectFix com and lookup...

Suction Cup Tool - XX2373 or Case Opener Tool XX1521

  • is it possible to replace the screen on an iphone 3gS with that from a 3g?

ive seen both videos for each and the components look identical

  • The connectors on the 3G and 3GS are different. So No they will not work.

  • what if i just leave my iphone without the digitizer will it still work?

  • The iPhone will not work without the digitizer. I mean the screen will not work that is.

  • How do you remove the LCD from the glass? Mine is stuck on there. It doesn't pry off easily like in this video?!

  • Take a look at our iPhone 3GS Touch Panel/Digitizer replacement video.

  • Apple really needs to allow the user to remove the battery without opening the phone completely.

  • There is a reason why they dont allow it..If I was running the company I would do the same..just a thought here..

Imagine you have an ipod and you aren't tech savy just as most ipod or iphone users are and your battery dies..Now seeing that it may be a couple years old newer models with more memory or features are out.. So if you aren't insanely cheap.. you'd just go out and buy a new one. For the cheap it doesn't work for them but as we all know apple isn't targeting cheap people.

  • how do you separate the chrome bezel from the back cover to replace it with a new one?

  • Try watching the iPhone back cover replacement video we made.

  • Does the kit come with a new sealer ring since the one on it gets pushed and possibly ruined when taking the glass off?

  • Not 100% sure what your asking. We have adhesive kits for when you replace just the Touch Panel and if you are referring to the complete screen then yes there is a new seal already on it. Take a look at our webpage DirectFix com for the different screen repair options.

  • thanks for the quick reply. I unscrewed the 2 screws at the bottom then when using the tool just as described in the video it pushed in what looks like an o-ring that goes all around the glass. its where you stick the tool in thats right below the bezel.

  • I understand. If replacing just the touch panel the rubber part stays with the frame. If you order a complete screen the rubber part is on it already.

  • I think I was a little confused. I think im going to just order the touch assembly with the frame so I dont have to mess with any adhesives.. even though its much cheaper to just get the touch panel

  • i ordered like 10 3g screens can i use them for the 3gs?

  • 3G screens will not work on the 3GS. On our webpage we list the screens that are specific for the model. You should have shopped with us at DirectFix com

  • What if I wanted to switch from a white iPhone casing to a black one. Would I be able to and how much would it run me?

  • Yes you can. The parts and prices are on DirectFix com

  • The backlight on my 3gs rarely works. How do I resolve this?

  • The backlight is part of the LCD. Goto DirectFix com and take a look at Part# IP-2321

  • ok im going to buy a new screen for my iphone 3gS the top part of my screen is cracked not actually the screen but above the screen where there is the little rectangle thing ....there the glass fallin out some and i can see orange where the glass used to be is this still just a screen replacement or something else plz help!!!!

  • Refer to the reply below "How to tell which Screen part you need for the iPhone 3GS from DirectFix com"

  • From your description it sounds like you just need a replacement touch panel which is Part# IP-2320 at DirectFix com

  • do you guys ship world-wide if you only do a few countries can you tell me which ones

  • Yes, Listed on the webpage at DirectFix com is a list of all the countries we ship to. Check under the international section.

  • hello have you got a vidio on how to help like put ti all back to gether ? and a vidio on how to replace back cover caseing ?

  • Take a look at our other video. We have reassembly video done already.

  • If my screen is cracked, but the display and touch screen still work, what do I need to order?

  • How to tell which Screen part you need for the iPhone 3GS from DirectFix com

    - LCD Only: If the image under the glass is broken and the touch panel is NOT then you only need an LCD.

    - Touch Panel aka Digitizer: If the top touch panel or aka glass top is cracked or broken but the image under it is fine then you only need the Touch Panel.

    - Complete Screen with Touch Panel and LCD: If the top touch panel is broken and the lcd image is either black liquid or cracked you need a complete screen.

  • This is exactly the same as the 3g for anyone who cares, I repalced the lcd 2 weeks ago, easy shit.

  • Wats ur web site agin.n thanks for showin me how to fix it on my own

  • Goto DirectFix com

  • hello is the LCD screen the same for the 3GS as the 3G?

  • No the connectors on the 3G and 3GS are different.

  • may I ask what do I need to buy for my Iphone if only the glass is broken? the touch screen still works and everything functions well. I also would like you to compare your glass and digitizer to Apple's glass and digitizer, thanks in advance.

  • We carry original iPhone parts. From your description take a look at IP-2320 - iPhone 3GS Touch Panel from DirectFix(dot)com

  • will it be packed well when you ship it? and where do you ship from?

because I live in kuwait and use mailbox forwarding from NY.

  • All packages are packed well and we ship from California. We ship to Military Personnel almost every day.

  • THANKS!!!

  • We don't need to do anything about the battery if were just replacing the screen right? (I know that sounds retarded but idk if you may have to reset something to recognize the new screen...probably not lol)

  • Correct. If you are replacing the screen you do not need to do anything with the battery

  • Hey i was wondering does the iphone 3g and the 3gs have the same type of digitizer and lcd screen?

with the 3g digitizer and screen for the the 3gs?

  • No. The 3GS digitizer and LCD might look the same but the connectors on them are different from the 3G.

  • hey bro do you ship your products worldwide ???

  • Yes, We ship to 40+ Countries. Goto DirectFix(dot)com and under the international section is the list of countries we ship to.

  • Sweet

  • Good, clear and simple vid! Great stuff... thanks.

  • Very thorough instructions! It's sounds like it would be a lot of work for the inexperienced, but if you are watching this you probably have nothing to lose in making the repair.

  • does this also apply to the iphone 3G

  • We have a video done for the 3G already. Take a look at our other videos.

  • hi, my iphone 3gs is dead, I need another logic board, do you know where can I get one?

  • For any motherboard issues you will need to go back to Apple or ATT for replacement.
