As one of the last crew members of HS KRITI (EX LST 1076).HS KRITI decommissioned and cannibalized, in order the SYROS to be repaired. Very Old (almost 80 y.o) "sailors" walked around of Souda bay in Greece lugging themselves, but approaching the ship they were reborn and started Jumping on the main deck. I remember and old sailor to explain me crying how a KAMIKAZE hit his ship and his best friend died on WW-II. Amazing people!!!
LST-325 is the former SYROS of the Greek navy. When the veterans where restoring it in Souda bay Crete, my mother being with the customs helped them with their paperwork. Being a ship fan, they gave me an exclusive one-day only-me tour on the ship as a gift. :-)Alas it was 8 years ago...

My dad served on the LST 1110 - San Bernadino County from 55 to DCom sometime in the late 50s when it was transferred from San Diego to Pearl. He was a QMC. Seeing this brought back great memories even thou it was not my dad's ship.......

i served on the lst in 2003-2005 in TAIWAN untill now still have 12 the same type ship still working
