Why does everyone think Chris Cornell ruins all the covers he touches? It's called a cover for a reason... you put your own spin on it. Billie Jean was amazing slowed down, and so is Hotel California BECAUSE he thought about his OWN version, not just copying the original. Obviously in comparison to the originals not better, but different and amazing!

I just feel that, what the hell is the point to other people covering music, if it is going to sound exactly the same? I'm not going to listen to a cover, to hear the same song I can hear from the original artist/band. We might as well not have covers at all, if we are only going to change them here and there. I like original covers, not the same but changed slightly.

@GetnFunky It's like, when Bauhaus covered David Bowie's 'Ziggy Stardust', they didn't change it up as much as Chris Cornell changed up 'Hotel California' but they sped it up at bit, and completely changed the way it sounded with the instruments, and vocals. When David Bowie heard it, he said that it was BETTER THAN HIS ORIGINAL. This is coming from the guy who wrote the song, telling another band, that he liked how different the cover was. Anyway, that's just my personal opinion on covers.
