I was JUST talking to one of my piano students today about how FABULOUS Horowitz is - and suddenly this song showed up on YouTube while looking at something else!! You are the bomb ~ a BRILLIANT, classy and timeless talent, and I LOVE your style!! Thank you for the incredible inspiration! XO
I have never heard anything more powerful. I don't know how Horowitz did it, because somehow, he just set the bar of 30 years of classical music listening.
@250Yogi Oh! Here comes a troll! What was it a bad day at school? Did mommy or daddy piss you off? Well what ever the reason is keep trolling my friend. You must be on a pretty good troll streak too by the way you fill the comments with so much context.
This is particularly difficult to play because we have all heard it a gazillion times. It's become cliché; Bugs Bunny uses it. But Horowitz pulls it off.
Nie znam wykonania Szopena...bo nie zna nikt, ale wiem, że nikt nie zagra tego lepiej...nikt. Dziękuję panie Horowitz, bo przeniósł mnie pan tym wykonaniem...gdzieś indziej.
This is deep very deep, touches the heart of my soul every time! feeling sad but comfortable. and in the pieces where it's getting different I awake from the sadness, into something what looks more like happiness.
horowitz is so good! he builds the strength of the notes exactly at the right time!
Hm. Chopin perhaps could not have played it that loud. He was described to play very softly, and I've read he envied Lizt for his power at the piano. So, in loudness, perhaps Horowitz plays it better.
You know, i just listened to it again, and i shut my eyes the entire time. For a while, there was nothing but the music. First time that's ever happened...

The dynamics here just plain sick (in a good way). Octaves in the base is plain nasty (in a very good way).

It reminds me of Tristram Shandy, where the death of Yorick is followed by a solid black page.

Horowitz is the best... Kempff comes close, but isn't as good.

The moment the Ab chord is struck, your heart seems to stop.
Horowitz gives this a thundering horror quality, it is beautiful, and I cannot but love the suspension he creates.

The pinnacle of romanticism! Chopin wrote this to honor Polands patriots. Such deep emotions still makes us want to cry...
