I'd like to thank the videographer/pilot for a very nice series. I also humbly suggest that the whole thing would have been better served without the music bed (and I'm a Daughtry fan). It's actually a pet peeve of mine with aviation videos. Imho the aircraft/comms is music enough.
Hey AW pilots!!! This is officially, "Luke The Shuttle Driver," in GSO, NC... I really enjoyed this video... You guys know that I am partial to you ALL, being a pilot and working for Delta previously. I love how someone taped this... sweet. I wanna know what crew this was... I couldn't tell. You guys ROCK! Always remember that BLUE is UP and BROWN is DOWN! love you guys,
But I reccomend getting a major in business or somethinh other than Aeronautical Science because you want a back up job in this line of work lol. I got all my ratings off campus to which saved me tons of money. I also did the aviation business degree very good degree.
If your really determined get your inst and commercial before college thats what I did. As far as college goes if you want to go to the harvard of Aviation schools go to Embry-Riddle but it's expensive but if your really serious and want the best connections in aviation thats the place to be.I went there and I dont regret it at all even though it costs an arm and a leg but totally worth every penny.
wondering how to get to the airlines or corporate aviation world here are myreccomendations? if your young and still in high school I recommend getting a job and using the money you earn to get your private license before you go to college.
hey highlife342 i had a question for you, first are you the f/o or are you the captian and where and how did you go about being a pilot did you go throught a aviatin school or did you do it privately, i'm trying to decide whether to go to a school such as emry riddle or just try to to do it by my self through smaller companies?
Embry Riddle sucks dude... Go to MTSU, Purdue, UND, or somewhere else. Also, I'd go through a university, because if you ever want to advance to the majors, or even make yourself standout for regionals, you need a 4 year degree.
Hey Highlife. nice Vid's here. Question: whether it be Scheduled Op's, Part 119, 135, GA, whatever- would there ever be any FAA Restrictions ,Company specific Mandates, or actual Aircraft Op's Limits, that would discourage for any reason, remaining on LNAV ( speaking for Jets using Slant F, E, or R designations) for Terminal Phase / Approach to rwy segment? in other words, do you need to always switch to "Green" needles here, or: can one fly "Magenta/MFD to minimums? Gfed
When on a visual like they were there, it doesn't really matter, so long as you follow the PAPI's. In actual IMC down to mins, the PNF can remain in white needles/FMS until the final approach fix to allow auto-tuning for position updates in non-GPS equipped aircraft. But from the FAF inbound, both PF and PNF must be in green needles...hope this helps! Since the autopilot sucks at capturing the localizer in the CRJ, we usually intercept white, then run the triangle for green...smoother flight
are you basically waiting for the "Blue Preview Needles" to indicate " Valid Green Inbound Course" then switching over, yes? and are you saying that your capturing LOC in "White" needles???? does that perform a more accurate capture, or more gentle "bank" into the LOC Capture procedure? a 700 captain was telling me this once. said something about, White needle capture (AP/Flight Director) allows for a shallower bank onto the IB course?? thanks for your help. Lol
You got it! Blue preview indicates proper course and frequency, then we switch. Capturing the LOC in white needles does allow for a shallower bank (it leads the course better). In green, the autopilot waits until the last second, then snaps into a bank to intercept, which usually causes us to pass through the loc. Of course, that leads to a few S-turns down final until the damn computer figures it out :) Are you in ATC or at another airline? Seem to know what you're talking about... ;)
my father was. LAS in the late 60's, early 70's. retired around '81 in redding (KRDD) passed away in 2001. i'm merely his 49 yo. son (lol) who always wished i would have taken my lessons sooner. I just Read, Flight SIm, and am an Avid aviation nut. the knowledge i've picked up, has been from reading tons of books ( machado, Instrument, Turbines, GPS, etc..) and flying in FSX. have an amazing Citation X made by Wilco publishing, and about to get the Eaglesoft one. thanks for replying!
FlyWMU - No- my Dad was ATC. LAS in the late 60's, early 70's. I'm a lowly flight simmer, who probably spends too much time fooling with it, but discovered my passion for flying ( wanting to fly) AFTER my dad passed away. oh well. love it as a hobby. 'nother Question if it's alright. what effect is wind going to have, when your on a VOR Radial, and in NAV mode (AP) could the wind "tear" you away from the Course Radial, even though AP is engaged? thanks for helping! cheers mate
In cruise the wind won't have any effect really. The AP adjusts for it and crabs into the wind to remain on course. However, with stronger crosswinds, say above about 30 knots aloft, the AP has a hard time capturing the final approach course (either a VOR or a LOC). It's almost as if the autopilot tries to intercept as if there wasn't any wind, then it has to figure out its wind correction angle. Can be annoying. But to answer the question, no, the wind will not tear you from the course. :)
do it every day.. not to hard, but you have to remember all the rules... for every 10 knots to fast, you loose 1000` of runway...etc.. have to use the brakes and get on the pavement. No 'finesing' it.
no of course he isn´t , he just know every little thing and posts vids from his flights, but no, he´s just a guy stealing other´s vids posted before. -of course he is a pilot ur dumbass!!! btw, very nice vids u have, I like them very much and I do like CRJs, they´re awesome from the outside! keep the posting up!=)
I realize that, I'm pretty sure at some airports the captain has taxi. At the end of this vid upon landing you can hear the captain say "I've got the plane."
Hey, great video. Was that another aircraft taking footage of you, or was that a different flight of you taking another aircraft? This was when you guys were on final at PHL.
Great videos; Very well done! I'm going to flight school in Bethalto, Illinois (Langa) in summer of 2010. Have always wanted to! I've seen a lot of videos, and its nice that a fellow American is finally doing a cockpit recording. I'll be flying the CRJ to start out with at GoJet and just wanted to see what the commuter companies were like. Let me know at GroundPilot3.
good catch! I had to piece together some video to make it stream together better, so yes, some is out of philly and some out of mke. it's a compilation of a couple of flights so I could get the camera angles I needed. cheers!
but I'm a little confused here. In Part I it says that the flight was from PHL to MKE, but the airport in this video looks like PHL. I'm pretty sure about that and MKE doesn't even have a RWY 26. so it should read MKE to PHL or am I mistaken?
just got done watching all 3 parts. very very well put together, gives us ppl out there aspiring to be pilots a good feeling of what its like great job and keep em coming.
How about an Airframe and Powerplant License with a B.S. degree in Organizational Leadership?
