What some people don't look at when they stand up for illegal immigrants is the fact that not all mean well. Some don't just come in to 'live happily'. If that's what they want to do, then they would work hard to become legal. Many do come in smuggling drugs, or even to escape gangs or law issues which just end up causing troubles for those already living here. I find the birth law should just be taken out. It's not fair, and is more unconstitutional to have it then not to.

Well... my assumption was based on the abolishment of welfare. From the standpoint of comparative advantage, and assuming that welfare never existed, it would be a good thing, but yes... you are right that the welfare system would get strained. But since we do benefit economically from immigrants, perhaps the disadvantages of the welfare system getting strained would get outweighed by the comparative advantage they provide? Sounds like a good economic research topic.

What some people don't look at when they stand up for illegal immigrants is the fact that not all mean well. Some don't just come in to 'live happily'. If that's what they want to do, then they would work hard to become legal. Many do come in smuggling drugs, or even to escape gangs or law issues which just end up causing troubles for those already living here. I find the birth law should just be taken out. It's not fair, and is more unconstitutional to have it then not to.

Well... my assumption was based on the abolishment of welfare. From the standpoint of comparative advantage, and assuming that welfare never existed, it would be a good thing, but yes... you are right that the welfare system would get strained. But since we do benefit economically from immigrants, perhaps the disadvantages of the welfare system getting strained would get outweighed by the comparative advantage they provide? Sounds like a good economic research topic.

The federal government does nothing to enforce our country's laws on illegal immigrants. It is time for states to step up and take action. Illegal immigrants are just that ILLEGAL. I am very supportive of legal immigrants, and i am happy to welcome them into america. There is a process to enter america legally, and it needs to be made clear that america will not simply give handouts to everyone.
