Why does everyone always laugh and celebrate after they drive over these carefully dug rumble strips?? Must be a Cali thing. I think Honda could have said something better about the Civic other than "It sounds cool when you drive over these rumble strips." How about features? Fuel economy? Resale value? Reliability? No. They dig rumble strips. Here in Jersey we have our own musical road, it's called The Road to Mieneke and it's lined with potholes. LoL

Lancaster is adding another musical road - Avenue G. They started adding the grooves for the notes this past week (on Oct 15 I think). ...and there are musical roads in Japan, Holland, and South Korea.

As for it being out of tune or starting on a wrong note, I don't know the exact physics involved (how the air is forced across the grooves), but I would imagine that each car and set of tires may cause the sound quality to vary some.

Should we try to get our cars or tires tuned?

So the city council meeting was this evening, and demolition of the road started this morning at around 7am. I spoke at the meeting about the road, expressing my concern about how quickly they were to get rid of it, and was told that reason they moved so quickly was because of safety concerns regarding all of the u-turns. When I asked how many car accidents had actually occured on the road as a result of u-turns, i was told by Mayor Paris, "Well, none"
