James Kalm, Nobody covers the NY art community better than you. It is so nice to see outstanding artists like Mary Heilmann (and Thomas Nozokowski) being rewarded for standing outside the trends.
Californian color-field painting. I like it better than Kenneth Noland & co. She deserves this long-overdue recognition for an artist who is in the Diebenkorn league. Thanks James. I too would love a sneak-peek at the Morandi show...
Well, it has been quite the year for Ms. Heilmann! It is reassuring to know that her work is regarded with such high esteem, even though I am sure that is difficult for her to swallow/revel in after all of the years she spent purposefully needling the establishment. Also, I second the desire for a bit of Morandi. Thanks again for your time and effort JK.
Thanks for the preview mr. kalm......the paintings look great and a wonderful addition to the catalogue of artists who push the provincial buttons and the formalist canon buttons simultaneously.......real talent!
a vid of Julian just one year before he died
Rest in Peace

Doesn't Heilmann show at 303 Gallery? Be careful James, they might ask you to take this video down. LOL!

Excellent James!
It is a pleasure to see this.
Mary's work is so refreshing, honest, and pure.
There's no pretense, no BS!
She's the real deal!
Like Richard Tuttle.
Just making wonderful work day-after-day-after-year-after-year!
Every once in a great while one slips through!
Thanks!
